But, she was a great actress.She played the young estelle in this version.She also played in the remake of Dark Shadows. She was mrs. collins, Barnabas's sister.Have you heard? Johnny Depp is supposed to play Barnabas in the new reamake?And i have the orginal music box from the 6o's Dark Shadows.I love that box to death. I love this film because it begins on the Thames marshes near to where I live,the grave yard and black smith's cottage are based on places that still exist.

Dickens lived I the area also, and often walked on the marsh.

If you like this film, I'd recommend that you see the movies "The Apartment" with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, and "Captain Blood" starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. Those movies are completely different from each other and this one, and yet, there is some feeling of hope triumphing over despair that ties all three of them together.

I know that there was a great deal of junk produced back in the B&W days but sometimes they transcended and The Apartment was one of those occasions. What I wouldn't give to see it for the first time again.
