If Thrust vectoring is so hot why is the F-22 the first production aircaft with it. If NASA has all this reasearch with it why not put it on a production model.

They want fast, high payload, cheap to maintain, with similar parts. But now you look at almost every modern fighter coming out it'll have thrust vectoring or use forward canards for better manueverability, and stability.

@topol007 Two factors probably played into this. One, we're talking about Pakistan, so they probably don't have the world's best pilots. Second, those F-16's probably didn't have all of the equipment used by the U.S. Airforce.

What happened to the fact that when new models met head to head during the korean war and they were operated by russian pilots the ration of russian planes shot to amercian planes shot was 1:4.
those russian engineers really know their stuff: they build stuff with functionality and practicality in their mind american jet's are designed to look cool that's why they are more popular than the russian ones
