  • This is amazing. I got a 10D a few months ago as my first DSLR, and this made me appreciate just how complex and beautiful it is. Just to be annoying, there was one thing that annoyed me about the video - the lack of the "finger bump" on the grip. Other than that, fabulous.

  • I cried as well! I never forget the time (the summer of 2003 when I got this camera with this lens)

This was my first digital slr camera what used to study the digital photography!

    I never forget!

Thanks Mate to share this video!

  • wow.. i like almost cried.. lol

  • Splendid.

  • very nice details and animations

  • amazing job

  • I loved the work of these talented students - lovely work, nice relaxing music - Good luck to all of these hard working students and all other students around the world who try to construct something positive.

  • Good animation! But why such a drama?

  • Awesome animation! Glad I saw this before trying it.

  • @1c0a0ro0n0t0eporscp1 i think the gap within what's semi expert and expert is little now. d7000 is perhaps all we want. go to... freedslr(.)com remove () and try to get an opportunity win a new Nikon D7000

  • Amazing job there! Do you have the camera's blueprints? I'm doing the same thing with a camera design, as a Final Project. Not nearly as accurate as yours; but it would really help me to have each pieze's blueprints.

  • Может кто-нибудь знает что за музыка звучит в этом ролике?

  • maginificent!

  • Oh wow, how long did it take to put this beauty together?

  • Wild guess 1 semester.

  • Okay

  • wow, wish everything in life came with this instead of stupid owners manuals

  • As a Drafting and Design Teacher, I am blown away by the level of skill demonstrated by students in this 100 level class! I can only imagine where you will be in a few years. Keep up the good work. As a Canon 10D owner, I now appreciate my camera much more than I did after seeing this animation. It makes me feel like I got quite a deal on all that technology, which is considered "old" now!

  • student of berkeley claims....

    Is he right?

  • Not bad at all guys. Congrats. I'm sure you got A's for this. haha

  • :O omg!

  • amazing Job mate, I can only Hope to have my animation skills at this level one day sir :)

  • are the author work in canon?

  • Fantastic (Y)

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stunning!

  • luv d song.. mars ost =D

  • Great! demonstration! great Job! i nevr took it simple coz iam a autocad animator tooooo..................

  • truly amazing, i will never look at a camera the same way again... well maybe i will still look the same way at one of those stupid little disposable cameras, but not a canon.

  • this is amazing.. as the camera itself!

  • An outstanding job. I hope this gives the average Joe a feeling for the the work, development and accomplishment of engineers, technicians and scientists.

and to quote Einstein : "And everybody should be ashamed who uses the wonders of science and engineering without thinking and having mentally realized not more of it than a cow realizes of the botany of the plants which it eats with pleasure."

he said this 1930... long before mobiles, tv, computer etc. were taken for granted...

  • lol 'How it's made' by discovery channel

  • bien

  • awesome job man!keep up the good work!btw what's the name of the piano song?

  • MAUREEN SOUZA FOR PRESIDENT !!

  • Wow!!!

  • wow!!!!!

  • thanks a lot for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm An italian student !

  • What was your work flow? why 2 CAD packages?

    Great Job!

  • Awesome job man, awesome job

  • this is ridiculously awesome! i would have lost so many screws if i tried to do this. i'm glad you got an A.

  • that´s lovely...veeeeery interesting video...I never seen before something like this...I have my 40D, but I think, the base is the almost the same...

  • Someone must have worked at Canon. No waaaay you guys could have modeled all those parts.

  • Looks like they really did it on their own, as you can see the case molding details are missing, and i cant see many ribbon cables which canon uses a lot.

  • Ribbon cables are sorta tricky to CAD. They did it on their own for sure though. That's how E128 is always run.

  • wow..really2 cool~so detail u all make it.nice one ^^

  • Really amazing work Matthew Farrell. I am highly impressed. I have seen Sony did an ad of a900 with a similar concept.

  • i think they won.....you guys should ask for a job at like, nasa

  • Just incredible - how long did that take to do?!

  • You have been busy little CAD monkeys !

  • I am kinda curious about what software did what, like, i think the textures were made using the Autodesk VIZ, and the parts and assembly were made by the Catia, but for what the Pro Engenier were used for?

    I would apreciate a reply ^^

By the way, very nice job!

  • VIZ was used for the animation and texturing. ProE was used to model the parts. Catia was not used. Thanks for watching, Matthew Farrell

  • Wow, very nice. They should have a video like this for every camera haha.

  • what is this

  • How long did it take to finish the camera?

  • I am due to give a talk on Digital Photography soon - Where, oh were can I get a copy of this bit of video - of better quality if possible. Some say what is the point of it - but can you imagine the how entertaining it is and, do not forget the skill of the graphic workers!

  • Gives me a GREATLY renewed appreciation (by a factor of 10 now!) for what goes into a DSLR - AWESOME video folks, very imaginative idea!

  • wow are you that retarded...it was for a project for a cad class LOL

  • then don't watch it, and stop complaining...

To the guy who made it, great job.

  • If it wasn't for the music, I wouldn't of watched this video

  • Excellent rendering! The 10D does look easier to disassemble to the shutter unit than the 20D.

  • Thank you fro sharing the CAD video - my first dig camera - still have it - now as a backup to Canon 1Dmk3 - btw - I recognized the music -Thy Word by Amy Grant - what is the first song? blessings!

  • Kind of makes you glad you don't buy one of these from Ikea - i have a hard enough time putting their book cases together but this...?

P.S. - anyone remember the old Heath Kits? wooo boy!

    P.P.S. - spectacular cad illustration!!

  • when i dropped mine, it looked like the beginning of this video clip..

  • very well put and exceptional presentation. great demonstration of CAD capability. just a camera fanatic in awe. good luck in all future endeavors.

  • Very funny. Thanx for share.

  • i am in awe...

  • We've come a long way from the old box with a hole in it setup. Simply amazing project here. VERY well done. Thanks for sharing it.

    Varina Patel

  • Very nice...almost makes me feel some sympathy for the Canon techs...almost...

  • Buy Olympus, they come assembled ;o))

    Sorry guys, amazing video, really!

  • One could meditate watching this. Amazing video, thanks for sharing!

  • this is why i tell people not to buy the DIY kits.. takes forever to put them together

  • Never again will I complain at the cost of a camera repair ... fantastic, well done.

  • Excellent insight to the building of a Camera.

What is the wonderful music please?

  • This has got to be the best animation I have seen for a long time. I have just bought a 50D and my first digital camera was a 10D. They just seem to get better and better. Fantastic Job!!!

  • Well done! Now I know why it cost me so much....

  • im going to treat my 10d with a lot more respect

  • holy shit

  • excellent video. really inspiring. how long did it take for you guys to create this video?

  • Wow, amazing!

  • Great work offering insight to the non-technical-graduated photographer and camera enthusiasts.

  • Spectacular work!

  • AMAZING!!!! Great...

  • Plese, what is the song? Incredible video by the way!

  • Awesome job but one has to wonder...how long did it all take to a) dissasemble the camera/reassemble the camera b) create the animation ?

    Regards, Ray

  • wow... great project!

  • Really great job.

  • this is pritty cool can you do that with a ferari?

  • Sure, you give me the Ferrari and I'll make a video of it! :)

  • Phenomenal! I'd like to just say - that's my cousin!!

  • Amazing both for content and technique! How did they do it? --BillV

  • Parts CAD'ed in Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks. Animation created in Autodesk 3D Studio.

  • Wow, did you get the CAD designs from somewhere or did you have to model all those parts yourself? If the latter, holy crap! How long did that take you to CAD all those parts so accurately?

  • this is really great!
