This is amazing. I got a 10D a few months ago as my first DSLR, and this made me appreciate just how complex and beautiful it is. Just to be annoying, there was one thing that annoyed me about the video - the lack of the "finger bump" on the grip. Other than that, fabulous.
I loved the work of these talented students - lovely work, nice relaxing music - Good luck to all of these hard working students and all other students around the world who try to construct something positive.
@1c0a0ro0n0t0eporscp1 i think the gap within what's semi expert and expert is little now. d7000 is perhaps all we want. go to... freedslr(.)com remove () and try to get an opportunity win a new Nikon D7000
Amazing job there! Do you have the camera's blueprints? I'm doing the same thing with a camera design, as a Final Project. Not nearly as accurate as yours; but it would really help me to have each pieze's blueprints.
As a Drafting and Design Teacher, I am blown away by the level of skill demonstrated by students in this 100 level class! I can only imagine where you will be in a few years. Keep up the good work. As a Canon 10D owner, I now appreciate my camera much more than I did after seeing this animation. It makes me feel like I got quite a deal on all that technology, which is considered "old" now!
truly amazing, i will never look at a camera the same way again... well maybe i will still look the same way at one of those stupid little disposable cameras, but not a canon.
An outstanding job. I hope this gives the average Joe a feeling for the the work, development and accomplishment of engineers, technicians and scientists.
and to quote Einstein : "And everybody should be ashamed who uses the wonders of science and engineering without thinking and having mentally realized not more of it than a cow realizes of the botany of the plants which it eats with pleasure."
he said this 1930... long before mobiles, tv, computer etc. were taken for granted...
Looks like they really did it on their own, as you can see the case molding details are missing, and i cant see many ribbon cables which canon uses a lot.
I am kinda curious about what software did what, like, i think the textures were made using the Autodesk VIZ, and the parts and assembly were made by the Catia, but for what the Pro Engenier were used for?
I am due to give a talk on Digital Photography soon - Where, oh were can I get a copy of this bit of video - of better quality if possible. Some say what is the point of it - but can you imagine the how entertaining it is and, do not forget the skill of the graphic workers!
Thank you fro sharing the CAD video - my first dig camera - still have it - now as a backup to Canon 1Dmk3 - btw - I recognized the music -Thy Word by Amy Grant - what is the first song? blessings!
This has got to be the best animation I have seen for a long time. I have just bought a 50D and my first digital camera was a 10D. They just seem to get better and better. Fantastic Job!!!
Wow, did you get the CAD designs from somewhere or did you have to model all those parts yourself? If the latter, holy crap! How long did that take you to CAD all those parts so accurately?

Ribbon cables are sorta tricky to CAD. They did it on their own for sure though. That's how E128 is always run.

VIZ was used for the animation and texturing. ProE was used to model the parts. Catia was not used. Thanks for watching, Matthew Farrell
