Calvinism is sick & twisted to suggest God would actually choose to create people and punish them in Hell for all of eternity. He tells us to love our enemies. Would He turn around and torture His forever?
@whatthehellbook The bible does teach to love our enemies, but its not cause we are enemies that people are going to hell, its because of our sin. God hates sin! and he doesn't want to have anything to do with it. God is set a part from us who are sinful and is Holy. Now if God is set a part, then where do you think sin goes? It goes to hell. Romans 6:23 says, "for wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Death in hell is something we earn because of our sin, but in Jesus we have life.

Just as a good tree can't help bearing good fruit, if we abide in Christ , the fruit of that union will naturally follow. If we are not in Christ the fruit of the Spirit will not be found in our lives. There are rewards in heaven and I believe it is perfectly possible for God to sovereignly choose a soul to save and for that person to bear very little fruit with the consequence that that person will receive a smaller reward in heaven. Rom. 11.29 shows God doesn't change his mind about this.
Israel was an example for us. They were saved by God from slavery in Egypt. God said the same thing to them that He says to us "I do this, not because of your righteousness, but because of mine" (In other words, not because of any works they did). But He still expected them to keep the commandments and do good works. When they didn't, He destroyed them as a nation.

He wants to show us how we can be good. To give us a new heart and new spirit. HIS spirit and HIS heart. That is what the new covenant is all about. I think the problem is you don't know what you are saved FROM. We are saved from slavery to sin. We are given the Spirit to helps us resist temptation.

@Jakeztube23 If we return to sinful behavior, or don't do good works, we lose salvation. We are being judged NOW, according to our works and will receive our reward later in the resurrection. The word "predestinate" does not mean what you think. Don't base your beliefs on just a few verses or sentimetal things you have been taught. Look at God's word with no preconceived notions and look at it ALL.

@Iamwithyou1000 If you are a new creation it is God doing the works in you. You technically can be seen doing them, but God causes them to come, not yourself. You play a very small role in this thing called righteousness. You are merely offering the vessel to be used for righteousness. So you set your body apart for the works of righteousness which GOD apportioned for you. He is the only one good not anyone else. Jesus says God alone is good. So your works are the works of God. @Iamwithyou1000 The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit was done by men who were religious. They believed what they were saying was the truth. Jesus showed them the condition of their hearts that they were not lovers of God. It was unforgivable because Jesus says so, but I think it should be seen as a cautionary tale for the rest of us. These men did not lose salvation, they failed to obtain it, so the gentiles "we" could be grafted in.

Read Romans chapters 3 through 6, Galatians and Hebrews closely and you'll see that Christians should be free from sin, that Christ's sacrifice is able to establish us where there is 'NO MORE CONSCIOUSNESS OF SINS'. That's a direct quote; if you don't know the scripture you should read your Bible instead of listening to Piper!

yes, thats because the new believer depends on Christ- Total depravity speaks on the behalf of our sin which is of our flesh- I'm assuming your not in the spirit yet so- yes you still need Christ in your flesh as well as your spirit someday. It makes sense.

By Jesus free gift on the cross. Take a look at Romans 6 since it seems to touch upon what both of you speak of. Although we should be renewed by the spirit to fulfill good fruits, this does not rule out our salvation but confirms it. There's a difference. Those who still live in sin could possibly not be saved since they are not truly "born again" in Christ but still living with sin as their supreme God. However, once someone has been saved, I do not think that they can lose their salvation. N

Just as a good tree can't help bearing good fruit, if we abide in Christ , the fruit of that union will naturally follow. If we are not in Christ the fruit of the Spirit will not be found in our lives. There are rewards in heaven and I believe it is perfectly possible for God to sovereignly choose a soul to save and for that person to bear very little fruit with the consequence that that person will receive a smaller reward in heaven. Rom. 11.29 shows God doesn't change his mind about this.

Israel was an example for us. They were saved by God from slavery in Egypt. God said the same thing to them that He says to us "I do this, not because of your righteousness, but because of mine" (In other words, not because of any works they did). But He still expected them to keep the commandments and do good works. When they didn't, He destroyed them as a nation.

Fruit comes from relationship and relationship changes you. God has a relationship with His people. What God has put together let no man separate. @Iamwithyou1000 If you are a new creation it is God doing the works in you. You technically can be seen doing them, but God causes them to come, not yourself. You play a very small role in this thing called righteousness. You are merely offering the vessel to be used for righteousness. So you set your body apart for the works of righteousness which GOD apportioned for you. He is the only one good not anyone else. Jesus says God alone is good. So your works are the works of God. Keep it up!

Yes, it is God doing the works in you, but the fact remains that you need to do good works, which is producing fruit. You are fully capable of refusing to do the works, if you refuse, you will be cast aside for not producing fruit. @Jakeztube23 and by the way, those scriptures that I quoted (hebrews 10:26-29, 6:4-6, 1peter 2:19-22) all CLEARLY show that these people had recieved the knowledge of the truth and the Holy Spirit, but they tunr away from the truth and back to sin, losing their salvation. This is blaspheming the Holy Spirit, the only unforgivable sin.

@Iamwithyou1000 The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit was done by men who were religious. They believed what they were saying was the truth. Jesus showed them the condition of their hearts that they were not lovers of God. It was unforgivable because Jesus says so, but I think it should be seen as a cautionary tale for the rest of us. These men did not lose salvation, they failed to obtain it, so the gentiles "we" could be grafted in.

That is what the context of that passage is saying along with the passage itself, Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things--things that belong to salvation. talk with me not at me.

Not once have I ever disagreed strongly with anything from John Piper...until now. For you, or John Piper, or anyone to believe we, or you are bad is both theologically unsound, false, untrue and entirely against the truth of one's new identity in Jesus. A Christian is not a sinner any longer, your identity at the deepest core of your being is NOT sinner...or bad. If you are a Christian and identify yourself as a sinner or..."bad" you nullify the grace, power, and forgiveness of God. BAD? NO!

Romans says that "for all have sinned, and have fallen short of the glory of God".
I'm pretty sure "all" means "all". John Piper? yes. Me? yes. Everybody? YES.
The bible also says that "it is by grace we have been saved, through faith, not by works". We have been saved by the only one who is not bad, Jesus.
It stings a little to hear that we are bad. We don't like to hear that. It's also truth. And we don't like to hear truth either.

I am depressed at the state of the world.....mega churches with virtually no conversions, no discernible effects on the community and no revival....
During the Welsh Revival of 1904 bars were entirely abandoned, church services lasted long into the night and were held everyday, the spirit flowed almost constantly and conversions were happening everyday and there was no human organization or schedule....
We have suited theologians who think they are leaders....but leaders appear from nowhere.

@SkiesVibrant In love: Paul had to keep telling Christians the truth in part because so many were teaching false, law-oriented, sin-oriented doctrines. Read Romans chapters 3 through 6, Galatians and Hebrews closely and you'll see that Christians should be free from sin, that Christ's sacrifice is able to establish us where there is 'NO MORE CONSCIOUSNESS OF SINS'. That's a direct quote; if you don't know the scripture you should read your Bible instead of listening to Piper!

God can save anybody, but he has to chose you, according to calvinism. So why tell people about God, if God has to chose you anyway?

yes, thats because the new believer depends on Christ- Total depravity speaks on the behalf of our sin which is of our flesh- I'm assuming your not in the spirit yet so- yes you still need Christ in your flesh as well as your spirit someday. It makes sense.

What the bible is, is the authoritative word of God. The truth. Not an allegory. It has some symbolism in it. but it is usually clear when it is being symbolic and when it is being literal. If you don't take it for what it is, the literal, precise word of God then you are no different from 95 percent of the population. GODS WORD IS NOT A STORYBOOK. Any claims you might make that The Bible is the "Word of God" are without any credible evidence. The Bible is a bronze age storybook of fables , mostly borrowed from other religions and written by men who drank rough as shit wine and knew nothing about the workings of the cosmos.
