If he (the anchor man) did not want to get into a silly argument about the quality/cost of US heath care then way was he bring the subject up? The FACT is the US does pay over the odds for a healthcare system that delivers far less than those other advanced nations that use a UHC stem. Why? Simply look at the cost of maintaining your private medical insurance companies.
Poor poor america, the more it goes the more it seems like watching the news of a poor dictatorial brainwashed country, hey by the way, you've improved, you're 37th now ahead of slovenia (38th), next you have to beat costa rica (36th) ;) .... if you wanna get a free healthcare (and a good one) come to europe, thats all we can say.
Republicans let people sick / die and smile. They will always support insane wars/weapons but fight against healthcare for poor people. Lou gets defensive when doctor tries to compare heathcre systems with other nations. Its bc he knows
he will lose that argument everytime. Sure if you are rich you can get good healthcare...that was true in 1890 also.
I think Lou Dobbs didn't want to compare US per capita costs to Slovenia because comparing countries of these sizes is apples to oranges, and the numbers do not really prove anything.
I'm conservative and love America, but my hate for Obama has brainwashed me into thinking health-care is a privilege not a right. Life is so precious, and that's why we need less of it. You guys staying healthy is diminishing the value of life. So to raise the "precious" value, I need people to stay sick. Oh and you're healthy but get sick we gotta make sure that bankrupts you. Why? Freedom! That's why!
lol man how obvious was it that Dobbs did not want his audience to hear the truth regarding the quality of care in the US compared to other countries?? Truth is the truth, except on Fox News.
I agree, it's like a ponzi scheme, but essentially that's how all insurance works... if you have private health insurance, who do you think is paying for all the old or sick people in your same private health pool? It's the young and/or healthy people that pay in every month but don't use the services. The only reason the private system can stay afloat is because you the healthy person are paying for the sick people.
the debate was going fairly well until the doctor pointed out a VERY good point and Lou completely shuts it down. Our price per capita for health care (around $6k) vs the quality of health care (37th in the world as Dr Scheiner points out) is skewed. We pay too much and don't get as good of service. Slovenia is number 36 as far quality and their price per capita is only around $1800. We pay too much and don't enough for it.
@Scuderiaferre Right. People like you say these things at a young and and when you are older and the costs are overwhelming. Something like Social Security and Medicare will be a godsend. But hey. Taxes are the cost of living in a society.

@MrGelfling I agree with you too. But I see insurance as a huge racketeering scam too.
