I have to say that this totally misses the point of the issue. I'd be curious to see how many police they have there at any given time and how many incidents have occurred at the protest where police mediators have been needed. Do we really need to have a multitude of people standing there in uniform, or is one police officer going to be sufficient to deal with any problems that the protesters have? One man isn't going to put a gigantic financial strain on this city, and he can call for backup.
