This camera (and all other canon cameras) cannot use optical zoom while recording video.
They showed the lens moving while zooming during the video recording, so they clearly gave the impression that it can do optical zoom while recording video, which is false.

@realisticHomeboy well as for me, i have no problem zooming in and out while recording videos. I can do such with my canon ixus 200is.
