Christianity gave the people of Britain to embark on a "Holy Crusade" being able to kill mindlessly. No! the foundations of modern science were laid by Christians in the 16/17th century and beyond. the roots of the great universities are Christian. Science has flourished due to Christianity. Yet in countries like china, science failed to match the development of the west due to its communism ie. no religion

first off, religion implies the belief in a deity with faith. darwanism is a proven theory, not a religion, and both islam and christianity oppose free thought. to say Hitler killed those people because of atheistic principles is wrong, because atheists dont have uniting principles, they simply possess a lack of belief in a deity. why he killed them is a different issue alltogether.
secondly, the church used to burn those scientists that opposed it. it did not help science.

@george43g freedom of speech is relative. In the science field, any objection to darwinian evolution is considered apostasy.
The movie Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed exposes persecution of anti-Darwinists, Some leading scientists have lost their jobs for expressing dissident views on the origins of life.
And all because these scientists and educators pursue research opposing scientific views to the reigning orthodoxy.

the occasional atrocities committed by professing Christians were completely contrary to the teachings of Christ, while the atrocities of 20th century Nazis and Communists were totally consistent with evolutionary teaching. Hitlers commitment to social darwinism/eugenics led to his application of surival of the fittest and the murder of millions. With no Creators laws to restrain them and with the justification of evolution, there is no accountablity.
