Chrysler is the dumbest company in America for not offering diesel in the Jeep lineup. Do you know how well this Jeep would sell? Does Chrysler? I think they know, but I can't figure out why they don't seem interested.
EPA won't let you? Find a way. Everybody else has managed to do it with large truck exemptions. Why act like the regulations can't be changed?
The government is even dumber by not forcing/allowing makers to offer more efficient diesels as part of the bailouts.
Okay so except for what a 24 volt system and armour this is a JK. Not trying to disparage the military aplications of it because a JK is a good lightweight gas saving alternative to a Hummer. Regardless neither a HMMWV or a J8 is a true MRAP however given the highly mobile in tight spacess need for the modern Army at times this would have it's place and as a border patrol or police vehcle it would run circles around the competition.
@dofishbuster its not Just a JK, Dana 60 rear, Beffed up Dana 44 in the front. Locking differentials. It comes with either the 2.3 CRD turbo Diesel or the 5.7 HEMI. Just that alone is far from JUST a jk.....
@ScRoTe1992 And I can't add all of the above to a JK? Ummm wait a minute it's been done well not to mine I can't afford it but I have seen JKs in action with such mods.
@dofishbuster It'ss not just a JK with paint, it is a heavy duty chassis with upgraded heavy duty axles,electrical system and running gear none of which the jk comes with or can be ordered with.
Yep those Jeeps made me all sorts of happy in all sorts of places... I'll take two of the up armored (you know, in case I some how blow one up... haha) and one of both the border patrol (M2 come with the sports package?) and the high back. just drop them off with the keys in them and Jeep don't worry you check will be in the mail Monday. Promise ;-) lol
Build and sell a Civilian Model of the longer wheelbase two door!!! They will sell as fast as you can make them. Build them with a V8 or a CRD if you really want to boost sales.
