look its not alton towers fault they had a power cut and cos they had a power cut they couldnt get the rescue platform to operate to get them out so lay off it!
in all fairness what do people expect AT to do in this situation??? They offer people free passes to stay at the hotel (which are not cheap) and give free passes to the theme park (again £40 ish a ticket) .
i personaly think this is fantastic from AT, giving customers another 8 or so hours free in the park just for loosing an hour of your day.
Surely they must have some kind of back up plan for when the power fails? I mean what if these people had been stuck upside down on the loop for 45 minutes???
@coopsandamanda stuck upside down on a loop???held by what??? the only place's a coaster can get stuck at are when the coaster is pulling or holding a train. (i.e when being pulled up the lift hill, or being held on a brake run)
I was there yesterday and me and my friends were waiting for well over an hour to on Air. One minute there were people on it and the next minute it wasn't running and then the next minute they are testing it! It took ages to get on and every rollercoaster was like an hour to que up for! I think Rita and Nemesis were fine. Oblivion was stopping, at one point all the carriages were stuck at the same place! And Th13teen was working but the back of the train had broken down! Not a good day!
I was there when both the power cuts happened! was pissed! Waited in the queue for air for over an hour then it got shut down and every1 had to leave but I did get on it later. I also got a full refund for 3 day ticket and got a free ticket for the next day :D
i was stuck on this exact ride !!! i dont really think that people should be filming.! i was hystericall crying and people were taking photos and stuff !! but i dont think this is too bad!
@97AWH I don't know, I hung around Air for about 15 mins then had to head over to customer services to get my money back.
The whole thing was a joke. Thirteen had problems from the start of the day, the rapids didn't even have any water in, and everything else was a minimum of 60 mins wait time, then the broke down for 3 hours+
@mrpawelm they do, alot of rides like enterprise and the skyride have backup generators, also the staff have not got that much experience, they have only worked for a few weeks
@mrpawelm Like what, pulling the rides around by hand with a big rope? How does offering complimentary tickets, giving free car parking, and extending ride close by an hour (all for something that wasn't Towers' fault) not count as a back up plan?
@nickmmb Well in my opinion people stranded on a ride for 45 minutes isn't good enough. As for offering complimentary ticket to someone who lives 200 miles away is no good.
It may not be directly AT fault for the power cut but don't you think a company that generates the kind of money they do should plan for situations like this?
As for extending by an hour and free parking thats nothing you can't get on a ride in an hour and it's a piss take they charge for the parking at all.
I was stuck on thirteen on the hill had to be harnesed to safety the staff were sarcastic and seemed to find it funny well I tell ya it's not nice being left at top of a hill for 50 mins in freezing cold lol
well the other coasters would have made it if they weren't on the lift hill

Umm you know in the description it says it stopped in mid flow which I believe Ive seen it but did they just sort of stop or jerk and stop?

When i went, it was tipping it down and we were waiting in the line for air for about 2 hours cuz the kept opening it and reclosing it :/

Lol i was there today i had to wait about 1-2 hours for air and nemesis to reopen but it shut at 7 so i got more time xD
