Perhaps some more clarity between the voices, as well as some sort of approach as opposed to just blasting through the piece, might help. Ask yourself why you are playing the piece.

blech, let's just get rid of Bartok. Did he write anything worth listening to? As a violist I like the viola concerto, but of course he didn't write that completely.

Piano quintet, concerto for orchestra, contrasts for violin and clarine, dance suites.... mmmmmmmm yes, worth listening to bartok. You only must know what he composed before talking about him. he is pretty different to the others, and a great part of his music is amazing. it´s just he´s not as well known as stravinsky or others.
