I tried researching the specifics of the case but again, it came down to harassment.
They should be tried only for harassment not for her death. It wasn't involuntary manslaughter. It was some assholes being assholes without much thought or compassion. On top of community service and probation, I would throw in counseling.

And that he wasn't dating anyone, the girls who retaliated saw this as not apropriate as she wasn't "in" with their crowd. I feel that even though you are right, she did take her own life, however the matter of the situation is that the surrounding events played a big part. They should all go to prison for Negligence or Involuntary Manslaughter with Special circumstances. They should have been given SEVERAL YEARS to twenty years depending on their particular involvement. A minimum of 7 years. Maybe her despondent father will put them all on ice.

When I was a kid, I used to be a bully. A violence necessary. I would bully other bullies to teach them a lesson. It was the norm for me all throughout my childhood. If I ever saw a kid being punked, I would serve up an ass woopin' to protect him or her. I couldn't stand how dudes would hate just because their grades sucked, so if I ever saw a nerd gettin' punked, I would swoop in like brown hornet with the bees. Moral to the story parents? Teach your kids how and when it's ok to use violence.

Speaking as someone who's occasionally suicidal due to results of past bullying, no one's to blame for a suicide but the suicidal person themselves.
What I mean by that is the bullies aren't slitting their wrists, shooting them in the head, or force-feeding them pills, *they* are. If it becomes punishable to be a suicide victim's bully after the fact, that could very well end up encouraging more suicide.
We have to do our best to stop bullies and help the bullied now, *before* it's too late.

The whole point is that while their harassment may have led to her decision to commit suicide, it was NOT a direct causation of it. At the end of the day, it was still Phoebe's decision & in terms of legality, you can't get tried on influencing someone else.

I'm a huge fan of TYT but I am disgusted by this video. Bullying in schools is out of control, and there have been dozens of suicides by teens who were tormented to the point where they can no longer see the good in life.

I have a cousin who lives in New Jersey, and she says in NJ there are laws against bullying. Kids have been thrown in juvie for the following
1. Friendly joking around at lunch " you're so stupid sometimes " etc.
2. Accidentally bumping into kids in the hallway
3. Touching another student in class

Resolving violence with more violence is not the solution to bullying.
I tried researching the specifics of the case but again, it came down to harassment.
They should be tried only for harassment not for her death. It wasn't involuntary manslaughter. It was some assholes being assholes without much thought or compassion. On top of community service and probation, I would throw in counseling.
It's for the best we don't know their names or some idiot would look for retribution.

And that he wasn't dating anyone, the girls who retaliated saw this as not apropriate as she wasn't "in" with their crowd. If you feel the need to kill the person who cheated on you thats a horrible thing to do. I feel that even though you are right, she did take her own life, however the matter of the situation is that the surrounding events played a big part. Those bullies should have been charged with the Assault since what they did caused harm to that girl. That's as far as it should have gone if people actually did something about it when she was alive. But since she's dead, I say just let them go. When I was a kid, I used to be a bully. A violence necessary. I would bully other bullies to teach them a lesson. It was the norm for me all throughout my childhood. Speaking as someone who's occasionally suicidal due to results of past bullying, no one's to blame for a suicide but the suicidal person themselves.
What I mean by that is the bullies aren't slitting their wrists, shooting them in the head, or force-feeding them pills, *they* are. If it becomes punishable to be a suicide victim's bully after the fact, that could very well end up encouraging more suicide.
We have to do our best to stop bullies and help the bullied now, *before* it's too late.

I didn't have an issue with Cenk's opinion up until he tried to justify it by stating “If she hadn’t committed suicide, they never would have tried any of these people, right?”Of course there would have not been no charges, the consequence of it hadn’t occurred yet. They should be charged, she was harassed verbally and physically.
As someone who has been bullied, the punishment is reasonable. But it doesn’t solve what can be done about bullying unfortunately.

I'm a huge fan of TYT but I am disgusted by this video. Bullying in schools is out of control, and there have been dozens of suicides by teens who were tormented to the point where they can no longer see the good in life.
