  • Tanks for the video! Appreciated!

  • Too much talking

  • Wow, for once I had actually found this lick before I watched the video.

  • just play the damn lick omg

  • thank god finaly someone on the internet explains how those double bends work real fuckin thankn you to you :D

  • rock and roll ain't noise pollution!!!

  • Thanks for the help. I'm learning the second solo to Crossroads and you have to do this very technique on the 19th fret. I figured it out what to do myself but I wasn't sure because it's so hard to fit my two fingers so close together that high up.

  • anybody know what key this is in? i'm think A or Amin? maybe?

  • @triggerex33 A dorian (Amin6)

  • Good lesson.

    Thanks.

  • he looks like the guy I pay protection to

  • Hey Jody, Always enjoy your videos! Love that Tele! Good lesson!! Man you can do it all! Do you have any music on cd?(not teaching) Or were you in a band??? Thanks again! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • Show the technique before talking for 10 years, saves you a lot of negative ratings and our time.

  • I'm sure when he filmed this video, the number thing he was worrying about was negative youtube ratings. Youtube was probably not invented yet when this was recorded.

  • Go to 2:58 if you want to actually hear the lick and see if you want to learn it - it could save three minutes of your life....

  • This guy looks like he'd be from the Sopranos

  • @ConstantineGuitar don't be a wise guy or he'll have to whack you off.

  • @vapegenie

    @vapegenie

You mean, "...whack you out".... you do.....right?

  • :55 almost played stairway to heaven lol

  • no need to use two fingers. i use one finger and pull down towards the ground, and with a pick. way easier and exactly the same

  • 1 2 3... lalalallalaand i really want to make you mine! (8) you look so fine and i really want to make you mine... sounds like jets sound! xD

  • nize vid :P 5/5

  • honestly, I just do it with one finger. it's easily in my opinion.

  • Agreed. The only problem is that you have to jump your hand out of position. Neither way is perfect.

  • not at all =P

  • same here ;-D

  • I know it's easier with a flattened finger but tonally it sounds better with two fingers. Unless you can grab both strings with one pad of your third finger then tonally it's the similar.

  • Does Jody use a very high string action on his Tele?

That's the impression I have for watching this.

So high action is better for bending?

  • it's all about your technique. J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. has really high action. it's all about how you attack the strings.

  • You have to have a high action on vintage style Fenders because the fingerboard radius is so small (7.25") If the action was low the strings would just 'choke' out when you bent it.

  • Merci !

  • im a beginning guitarist lol so my queston is...wont the strings snap from bending the strings that far up????

  • nope

  • naw 1/2 to a whole won't break strings if done the right way' if your guitar isnt well intonated you may fall out of tune a little

  • the pick usually is fault of strings breaking;unless your strings are really old.9's are the best for this kind of bending.watch Bob Kulick'S lesson of Kiss' "All American Man".he bends by pulling the string behind a hammer on.

  • Great video. And what an awesome fingerboard on your Tele.

You know: I'd LOVE to see a version of this video for folks who are wedded to picks. Learning to use my picking hand without a pick seems daunting. I'm more interested in focusing on my fretting hand for the moment.

How would this sound if played with a pick?

  • 7 - 5 - 7 :)

    7 - 6 - 7 :(

  • it would just be more crisp with a pick but not much different and not any more difficult -fingerrs will always have the advantage because you cant pick 2 or more strings at once with a pick. Personally I practise both ways.

  • so you gave me a thumbs down? i just thought the note on the 5th fret would sound better than the 6th.

  • playing 2 strings can be done with a pick. you can use your ring and pinky fingers.

  • Check Jerry Donahue from the Hellecasters for a reality check in the flat pick/finger pick-style. Man, we mere mortals can only dream.

  • hi jody worrell

  • Great stuff, Jody! A talented, humble teacher with a kind demeanor. I'll be back for more!

    Lee

  • this guy is an excellent teacher - just wish he'd been around when I was learning 50 years ago - wudda saved me a helluvalotta time! - but maybe spoiled the fun of finding out 4 myself...hmm? Funny thing - a half century ago none of us thought this stuff would last - how wrong can u be!

  • My motto--"have a good time, all the time". Great lesson, Jody.

  • You teach really well dude. But I agree with the below posters point about playing the lick first.

Opening with- "Today I'm going to teach you this...((play lick))

...would be a great start to the vid.

  • write "hernan gonzalez country boy" it's amazing!!

  • great:))

  • I really like the way you teach and of course the way you play, but I wish you could put

some tabliture up there as well.

    Thanks for the lessons,

Yours for the Love of the guitar,

    RAMBINI

  • what year is a telecaster?

  • I love you, Jody Worrel

  • That helped a lot - what a great teacher ;-)

  • I wish he would've played the lick first and then gone into the discussion. That way you know if you can skip it or want to know more.

  • Jody, good stuff.

  • JUst happened on to guitar lesson vids for the first time today.

I've watched about 10 so far including a few of your's Jody and must say you have a wonderful demeanor for putting students at ease and that helps make learning a whole lot easier.

    Keep up the good work!

  • thanks it really helps alot

  • I've always loved this little bend-lick style, I just called it a "warm transition", because I've never known how to do it. Now I do! Thanks a million.

  • Hey, Jody. Thanks for this one. Well done explanation and the little jam at the end showed how many possibilities exist with this. Awesome.

  • Demonstrating use of the lick was an eye opener.

  • its easier for me to do the same thing but baring the two strings with only my third finger and bending them the opposite direction.

  • Great lick, nice explanations and cool demonstration ! thanks a lot

  • Ain't that fun? Nice Tele

  • jody's the best one!

  • really cool, really cool . . .

  • man thats a nice tele

  • i vant you geetar

  • Loved it. Thanks a bunch. I'll be conning my way off the cotton farm in no time.

  • YOAHHHH
