  • Was Robert Smith from the Cure on this?

  • No. The single was released in March 1979, when John McKay and Kenny Morris were still with the band. They left the band during an in-store record signing in Aderdeen in September 1979 and Robert Smith, along with Budgie, joined the band to help finish off the "Join Hands" tour.

Budgie remained in the band ever since and Robert Smith returned as guitarist from October 1982 to April/May 1984, after John McGeoch left. Robert is heard on the albums "Nocturne" and "Hyaena".

  • i'm a relatively new convert/siouxsie obsessive...i vaguely remember the older kids on the estate who used to menace me being into siouxsie-and 2 tone of course!! never heard this one before though!!! thanks for upload....

  • You're welcome, thanks for watching!

  • Awesome song. Takes me back. Nice sound quality too. Cheers for the upload :-)

  • You're welcome! This is taken from the 2 disc remastered and expanded edition of "The Scream".

  • @VlogKing Thank you.

60 likes, 0 dislikes. Says it all. I bet you wouldn't find a Justin Bieber vid' with a 100% pass rate like that, lol.

  • Haha, exactly. Thought I'd mention, thanks for the invite.

  • Sioux, Severin, Morris, McKay

  • I bought 4 CD this saturday (along with GT5...) : The Scream, Join Hands, Hyaena and Through the looking glass (I only selected my favs of them on tape more than 20 years ago ;-) I put them on my HiFi and ... my 6yo daughter liked it !!! Especially this Staircase Mystery that she asked my to replay. We only listened to it twice and she managed to get the main theme and some lyrics ("mat looking down" her way). She then sang the melody a capella for some minutes afterwards ! I'm a happy Daddy lol

  • Now you need to collect the rest of their albums. I got into the Banshees around your daughter's age. Maybe she'll follow my footsteps and become an obsessed Siouxsie fan like myself 10 years from now! Let's hope so.

  • @AlanTubeViewer

buy Tinderbox, the best album imo

  • still rock her to this day...blows people away.....if u give it chance....its amazzing. TY

  • Thanks again, pal. But you missed the first note out ;)

  • You're welcome. The reason the first note is missing is becaue before I uploaded it, I was trying to avoid getting a copyright message on this video. So I edited out the first few seconds of the song. I don't think it helps much by doing that though.

  • @VlogKing Ahhh, I've got you, mate. Let's hope it stays as your Banshees vids are of the best quality.

  • The audio from 'The Scream' to 'Tinderbox', as well as the 'Downside Up' & 'At The BBC' boxsets that I've uploaded are taken from the remastered CD's released from 2004-2009.

  • One of my favorite songs, the little spiderette loves it as well........all black feline, she likes songs that mention her kind.........lovecatz

  • the bees knees reminds me of being on dave guyatts waltzer back in july of 1979 great songs wish i could go back.

  • This song is great I love It

  • Siouxsie <3

  • absolutely brilliant!

  • This great song should have been included on the original "Join Hands" album from 1979 because it was recorded and mixed in between 1978 and 1979 before "Join Hands" was released.

  • Another early Banshees classic !

  • The video for this song was partly inspired by the staircase murder of private eye Arbogast in the film Psycho.
