@Justinjaro Lol, I was wondering too ! maybe macro, 'eh? nah I don't think so, I think they zoomed it with the kit lens that's more than 55mm, or maybe 55mm.

Strange they are advertising 'the more detail...' because the 550 has a cropped sensor. I'm happy with mine though.. for now.

@lepeanut - more detail because of more MP I would assume, Im pretty happy with mine too though, Ive taken some A grade shots with it.

@lepeanut More details because of the pixel count (18mpix)....not the sensor size ^^

@faloc Canon 550D 22.3x14.9mm sensor is very small for its 18mpx, therefore canon "squeezed" the pixels in its sensor resulting in worse image quality, worse color depth and worse noise performance if compared with the nikon's 16mpx but bigger sensor for example. And that is how nikon delivers stuning photos. Canon although has a quite better video performance.
