As a pilot I think he should be fired as well as the supervisor that had knowledge of the incident for a few different reasons. If this was bumblefuck Ohio I would have less of a problem with the situation but the traffic of JFK is heavy and it is unprofessional & unsafe. It reminds me of an accident on a Russian Airliner when they had the son of the pilot in the seat and he accidently clicked the autopilot off ,crashed and killed everyone on board, it was cute til' then.

the pilots where replying. the kid was giving legit clearances. there was no policy against it. there was nothing wrong with this situation. obviously the father was a good enough atc to be working at jfk. there was zero change in risk when the kid started controlling. Just to make it clear... The child was not controling the planes. They were just saying what their father was telling them too. If the child had said something wrong the the pilot would have asked them to repeat. It's the pilots responsibility to make sure the passengers are safe and if the pilot doesn't feel that they are being safley declared permission to take off they won't take off. I know from personal experience. I'm a pilot and I wouldn't be bothered by this at all.

ATC is needed because I need to be cleared into and out of different airspaces. Also on days where the visability is low how am I supposed to see a plane on final? ATC can tell me. Why do you think fighter jets are scrabbled to intercept airliners that have lost radio contact? To stop terrorist attacks. ATC stops planes from crashing into each other as well.
