  • fuk live atc is awesome but is fuking with controllers

  • The kid was just parroting what his dad was telling him to say. It's not like the guy was in the bathroom or something. Hasnt anyone ever heard of take your kid to work day?

  • Comment removed

  • EVERYTIME something very small happens such as a medical emergency diversion....the news has to blow it up huge and try to make it look like theres something bigger going on...and OMG an airplane diverted! but why? something broke while flying? someone got sick? or is it terrorism?? we will bring this news to you at 6. back to you carol. .......see what i mean.retards.

  • piss off cbs.

  • I really don't think this is that big of a deal. He didn't leave the kid in the tower by himself. If he said something wrong he could've corrected him immediately. This is just silly.

  • Enough WITH THE STUPID FUCKING ADSSSSSSS

  • FUCKING ADS I JUST WANNA WATCH THE VIDEO FUCK OFF

  • You people should are fuckin idiots. All this shit to talk about , and the THIS is news? Brangelina is NEWS?

What about the FACT that America is being governed by actual criminals, swindlers and murders.

The news should be about their prosecutions etc; you people are distracted by dumb shit BECAUSE you're dumb.

In a very short time all this will come to a head. JUST WAIT. It'll be worse than "1984."

  • From a pilot's perspective. THIS IS NOT A BIG DEAL. THIS WAS NOT AN ERROR IN JUDGEMENT.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ATC, IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE YOU'RE SCARED.

  • i don't think it will cause any big security problems because his father can manage the child at this short period of time, do not need to fire him immediately, please give out warning is better i hope that.

  • 1 security

    2 safety

STEP I: Know the difference between the above two.

STEP II: Know what you end up with anyway when you have one but not the other.

  • #1 Kelly Wallace is fugly as hell, #2 this was blown way out of proportion, these lazy fucks are just bored and are looking for a simple story to blow up, hell if a kid stole a dollar from his mom's purse, the media will probably make him look like the next Dillenger. The kid was basically repeating the words, nothing wrong, his father was with him the whole time.

  • As a pilot I think he should be fired as well as the supervisor that had knowledge of the incident for a few different reasons. If this was bumblefuck Ohio I would have less of a problem with the situation but the traffic of JFK is heavy and it is unprofessional & unsafe. It reminds me of an accident on a Russian Airliner when they had the son of the pilot in the seat and he accidently clicked the autopilot off ,crashed and killed everyone on board, it was cute til' then.

  • 1 The idiot-father should be fired and never be allowed to work in a busy airport again.

2 The supervisor should be fired, too.

3 At the very least, everyone else who was present but chose to say nothing should be reprimanded.

Anyone who is paid so much and required to work only for short periods at a time BECAUSE of the numbers of matters to give one's FULL attention to AT THE SAME TIME evidently does not know what his duties are and what level of professionalism is expected of him.

  • Someone who is paid so much but chose to bring his children to work instead of hiring a babysitter or leaving them at day care does not deserve the pay ... especially someone too dumb to know the difference between "bring your kid to work day" and "have your kid take over at work day".

"Dear Patient, I am your surgeon. I shall let my 7yo son make the first incision. Don't worry, I will be there to give instructions; it's not as if all adults will leave the room. Nothing to worry about."

  • "PS: My 10yo daughter likes making dresses. I shall have her stitch you up after. Again, no worries--I am sure that having been informed beforehand of what will be done, you and your family members will give your consent. Chill!"

  • you're a fucken loser, you clearly have no concept of ATC. the kid was doing ground control. his dad was right there telling him what to say. FAA says there was no saftey breach. jesus, have a little fun in life

  • CLICKSPACEBAR

    > FAA says there was no safety breach.

The FAA's own statement as well the FAA's suspension of both the idiot-father and his equally-idiotic supervisor disprove your conjured-characterization.

Jesus or no Jesus, have enough brains to know the difference between an amusement park and the air traffic control tower at a busy international airport.

  • clearly the pilots didnt care either. infact it sounds like it was a nice change in pace. you think if there was a safety issue, the 100s of people involved would have said something sooner. you dumbass

  • CLICKCLICKSPACEBAR

    > clearly the pilots didnt care either

People with responsibility failing to exercise that responsibility is a problem, NOT proof of the absence of a problem.

LEND ME YOUR LINE: You dumbass. You are a SPECTACULAR IDIOT.

  • the pilots where replying. the kid was giving legit clearances. there was no policy against it. there was nothing wrong with this situation. obviously the father was a good enough atc to be working at jfk. there was zero change in risk when the kid started controlling. The media blows this shit way way out of proportion. and the father never left the kid alone, he was always there telling him what to say. fuck your a dumb shit

  • @gagothesith being an atc myself you are an idiot...learn how atc operations work then speak, this is no different from some brand new trainee trying to get rated, at any time the father could over key the kid. You have no idea what you speak of so shut your mouth, you are just as bad as the moronic news staff blowing this way out of proportion.

  • VATRUCKIE

    > YOUR A RETARD

    Spot the irony.

Come on. Try hard, try very hard.

  • By the way...nice grammar. "YOUR" is used wrong. I'm sure the kid in the tower with his dad would've picked up on the fact it should have been YOU'RE not YOUR....YOU RETARD!! No wonder we (the US) left the Philippines!! Your argument in this thread is null-and-void as you can see. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! GOODBYE!!

  • VATRUCKIE, you are SPECTACULARLY STUPID.

It was YOU who wrote out "YOUR A RETARD"--you were being quoted.

Yes, "'your' was used wrong"--YOU did that.

LEND ME YOUR LINE: YOU RETARD!!

  • Ridiculous to let a child do that but no harm was done. It's JFK Intl. The ATC is obviously good at their job. I hope the're not punished too much.

  • MTHTMTY

    > no harm was done

Yeah. No one was ACTUALLY KILLED--and ONLY WHEN PEOPLE ACTUALLY DIE should anyone start thinking that anything could possibly be wrong.

  • MTHTMTY

    > no harm was done. It's JFK Intl.

Yeah! It's only the 6th (?) busiest airport in America.

There are ONLY a dozen or two flights along only a few runways at any one time, ... and there are only a few hundred passengers in each of those jets, ... and there are only how many liters of fuel in a jet which has not even used up much of it yet, ... and jet fuel is only this or that much more flammable than the one in the cars we drive.

    Yeah!

  • Just to make it clear... The child was not controling the planes. They were just saying what their father was telling them too. If the child had said something wrong the the pilot would have asked them to repeat. It's the pilots responsibility to make sure the passengers are safe and if the pilot doesn't feel that they are being safley declared permission to take off they won't take off. I know from personal experience. I'm a pilot and I wouldn't be bothered by this at all.

  • MTHTMTY

    > If the child had said something wrong

    > the the pilot would have asked them to repeat

    Wrong.

You assume that the pilot would be able to tell what is wrong from what is correct--in which case *what need is there for air traffic control*?

  • uh yeah. why do you think pilots get take radio theory while getting their licence. if i was on final approach runway 27. and ATC clears me for the full procedure NDB runway 33, im pretty sure im gunna tell him/her something is wrong with that clearance. people make mistakes. this example is rather exaggerated, but its to get the point across to your retard brain.

  • Just read clickclickspacebar's comment. I don't know why you are arguing with me. I fly A319's and know alot more about this than you. ATC is needed because I need to be cleared into and out of different airspaces. Also on days where the visability is low how am I supposed to see a plane on final? ATC can tell me. Why do you think fighter jets are scrabbled to intercept airliners that have lost radio contact? To stop terrorist attacks. ATC stops planes from crashing into each other as well.

  • @gagothesith the kid was saying what the dad told him to say regardless whos voice it was it would have been the same transmission, if it wasnt the dad would have over keyed and given the correct transmission before the pilot even acknowledged with a read-back...and if you think the dad wouldnt have noticed you are even dumber, atc are far more intelligent and have a quicker rate of thinking and speech then you obviously do, go back to your insignificant job and let us do the important stuff

  • This is blown way out of preportion. This guy had a laps of judgement. No one was in danger and this guy should be repremanded not fired. This country is full of unemployed we are trying to crusify this guy and for what. He brought his kid to work. grow some hearts or brains in some cases.

  • 1 If you knew how much air traffic controllers are paid for how many hours of work AND WHY, you might reconsider your "blown way out of 'preportion'" conclusion.

2 Would you be surprised to know that "judgement"--a lapse of which the air traffic controller-father suffered--is among the requirements for the job?

3 Fire Duffy and replace him with one of the unemployed--someone not bound to suffer a 'laps' of judgement.

4 "Grow some brains" is one advice you should give to Duffy.

    . . .

  • 5 Same advice to be given to those who cannot tell the difference between "bring your kids to work day" and "have your kids take over at work day".

6 Also to those who see "Would you like fries with your burger which my 7yo kid will prepare for you?" as no different from "Hello 300 passengers of Flight XXX. Your pilot today will take air traffic directions from my 7yo kid. Those of you who see cause for concern should grow some hearts or brains."

  • 1. your dumb

    2. Who cares

    3. Didnt cause any problems

    4. Just the news causing a BIG problem

    5. people like you making A BIG F'EN DEAL

  • JZUBOV

    > your dumb

Read the above and tell the world WHO IS DUMB. Better yet, have someone who is not dumb TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE DUMB.

  • Who cares? His dad was there giving him the commands and just like they said, noone was in harm and they blew it waaaaay out of proportion. It's not like it was some random kid giving random commands or false info lol~
