  • This was a hot shot move. The correct T/O profile would have been a pedal turn until he was facing the valley, then move forward and dive down once clear of the landing pad. Looks cool, but that certainly not the safest way to do a pinnacle T/O.

  • this is Merdok!!!

  • i bet the passengers literately weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed XD

  • not a big Deal ... read below !1

  • 7 people tried it and got fucked up by a mountain

  • Umm...it's a Pinnacle situation...he did exactly what he was supposed to do...turned altitude into airspeed to try and stay out of his model's danger zone for auto rotating. It may have been thrilling to watch and ride..but the pilot was actually acting in the safest manner for their machine and passengers.

  • he meant to do that

  • thanks mr. pilot for that great show ;D

  • good pilot

Exactly what you do in this situation.....using the elevation and dive to create airspeed, and therefore control.

  • I'll bet the passengers all went wee as well!

  • Colin Mcrae

  • hate to break it to you......... but thats everyday chopper flying.

  • like a boss...

  • No, i bet the pilot thought "Oh jesus, we're fucked"

But what he said, was. *Don't worry ladies, evrything went just as i thought*

  • better than a roller coaster!

  • 6 people have been vomited with that helicopter

  • Fake? Ha, yeah right.. There's always at least one person that has to think something is fake... This is just an ordinary day for the pilot.

  • like a boss

  • At higher altitudes the airs thinner thus making it harder for the blades to produce lift. during takeoff the pilot has to push the engine to it's limits and then descend fast to keep the engine from overheating.

  • I hope everyone had a change of underwear.

  • Lol, it could be fake.

But interesting video. Even though I think it's fake, doesn't mean it is :P

  • @PhysicsTowerTeam its not fake, at high altitudes this sometimes the only way to push through ETL

  • @hawker800FO I know. It was more obvious to me after I researched on this. First time seeing it, even though I'm a fan of aviation :)

  • Hey its Murdock! lol I bet if any passenger was in there they would probably piss them selves.

  • GTA PURIN uhasdhuasuhd

  • Können oder Glüück?

  • @rudman2 Können

  • Irresponsible idiot.

  • :O

  • @SBWaffelmann I am from austria, and i think it is in austria. :)

  • LOL it's like GTA

  • crazy! louco!

  • muito bom mesmo

  • o cara é muito bom

  • Im gonna go out on a limb and say he flew choppers in Vietnam

  • Apparently the pilots of these Eurocopters like taking off crazy in the mountains, I have a similar video, not quite as good though.

  • Oh loco meu!!! Deu um mortal no abismo!! Sangue frio esse heim?

  • I bet the pilot said "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

  • @tonyppe And the passengers squirted a bit out

  • Your mind was saying WOW!

  • its easy to control....its not crazy

  • @zitzit274 shutup please

  • Chuck Norris' way of taking off in a helicopter

  • È doido HEHEHEHEHE.

  • Just doing a little bit of settling with power recovery practice...haha

  • OHHH SHIT

  • awesome

  • first I was like meh, then I was like o.0

  • @1CaptainAustralia1 what does "meh" mean and how is it pronounced? I've never heard it used in English before.

  • @urbex2007

You'd say it if you didn't care about something or were unimpressed: Friend: "Do you want an ice cream?" Me: "meh".

It's sometimes used as an adjective: "the film was meh".

It's pronounced so that it rhymes with "yes" or "get".

It's quite a new english word. It was invented on the internet a while ago, became popular because of the simpsons, and was included in the dictionary in 2008.

  • I wish I had done that.

  • If i was on that i would know how Mr T felt on the A Team

  • well the video stopps at 11:0 then the chopper is crashing propably xD

  • ha ha i love armchair pilots, ha ha ha ha ha

  • ive done shit like that...in video games... :P

  • @xXxMuSiCdUdEXxX AND????

  • if it were my first time flew then id be scared like crazy. but id probably get scared.

  • i can say to him(the pilot) is talented, but he is crazy,.

  • that dude got laid so fast

  • Chamonix ?

  • Go for a dump before you fly with this guy!

  • From a pilot's perspective he seems to be trying to leave the helipad area asap and gain speed + clearance, in case he loses power in his engine, allowing him to auto-rotate (auto-rotation is the maneuver helipilots do when they have no power from the engine(s) in flight and have to use the potential energy left in the main rotor and glide to a safe landing).

It looked a little bit aggressive in my opinion but also I can't really tell what sort of terrain he's at, specially at that cliff.

    :)

  • @allantotti Not a pilot. So want to ask if its possible that he is in so high altitude that he can't maintain hover in not in ground effect so he has to make that maneuverer to take speed? just a question.

  • @anariaq @anariaq Hi there. That is a great question and it might happen depending on the helicopter's performance and the altitude involved. I can tell that this is a AS350 B3, and it's one of the best single engine helos to operate in high altitude so I doubt it would apply to this case. :)

  • @allantotti Thats I think is true. Did not see that its actually empty when he did it. So thats should not be a problem as you said. Now you mentioned it I have been on an AS350 in high alt flying in Greenland. So I should have known :) BTW the pilot back then actually made almost the same maneuverer when he took of :P

  • @anariaq Exactly. He did some things a little fancy but for him to keep flying he had to stay close to the ground until his speed was up.

  • Can somebody tell me where that is........what part of the world is that footage taken??

  • Absolutely beautiful....!!!!!!!!

  • YES!!!

  • I bet he was screaming FREEEEEEEEEEEDOM or THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • i can do that too... in gta

  • my stomach jumped just watching it holy hell great take off

  • wow! those guys are crazy, I really thought he would crash the heli.

  • this is better then fast train xD

  • @CommonRaven Perhaps the classification of a "slightly over confident but probably good pilot" would have been better than "luncatic and potential killer". Indeed I was wrong by assuming he was to enter the DMCurve. I should have said there was a very high risk of entering it. BTW it is applicable on a downhill manouvre since it is a height-velocity diagram. Height being the distance to the ground! Your VSI is no factor in that matter. Nevertheless, let's enjoy someone elses hazards...

  • @sanadek1 Get your hand off it dude, That was COOL!!!

  • @pulsejet1 & @CommonRaven:4)When diving past the pinnacle he enters the right side of the dead man's curve: High speed and low height. An autorotation is very difficult if not impossible on that side of the curve.

5)By the way: all textbooks will read to NEVER dive down the slope when clearing the pinnacle. I just hope this brief explanation prevents others from pulling this stunt, because that what it is. And pulsejet1: I am a rated commercial helicopter pilot. Is this dumb enough for you?

  • @pulsejet1 & @CommonRaven: 180 degrees into a tailwind situation. First thing that will happen is loss of ETL when speed builds up. If a katabatic wind is present it will just get worse and a close encounter with the mountain will be inevitable.

3)Should there be an anabatic wind, speed build up could be agressive and VNE can be easily exceeded due to the aid of gravity. Resulting in flapback and roll belly up with very little time to react and then there is that mountain again.

    ...to be cont

  • @pulsejet1 & @CommonRaven let me enlighten you:

1)It's an airspeed over altitude takeoff (not the other way around), meaning building up speed is more important than gaining altitude. This does NOT mean you can drop altitude like crazy but you have to maintain it! The pinnacle provides the instant altitude which provides you to convert the alt into IAS gain.

2)Assuming he lifts off with a head wind (entering the deadmans curve to approximately 60ft mind you) he then turns... continue next post

  • @CommonRaven I know, I was responding to a comment that referred to the pilot as a 'potential killer'. Obviously not knowing anything about helicopters. It looks wild, but is a very practcal way to get into forward flight. I was just asking for an example of why this would be dangerous, because it really isn't.

  • i take off like that, in battlefield game xD

  • WOW, he rocks... nice move...

  • i would piss myself and hold tight on my seat

  • That's a nice take off, I would do it like that too

  • the pilot clearly knew his surroundings...

  • Not the prettiest take off, however it's a good technique to get enough airspeed quickly enough to be able to autorotate, besides it seems to be flying quite high in density altitude!

  • fantastico

  • Many pants were filled that day...

  • thats a helo of "Airway Helicopters" from South Tyrol (Italy)

  • I shat a house of brix

  • Wowwwww!!!!!

  • Makin' that AStar do the Dougie.

  • I want my ride !!

  • Amazing!!!

  • porqué decis que está en la curva del hombre muerto? (dead man's curve) he have speed and altitude, if he enter on autorotation, he should not have any problem, bcs he have all requirements to make a good autorotation

another thing is if he have tail rotor failure...

  • The pilot just picked up an old lady from the house with severe diahorrea. Her toilet was blocked and this was an emergency as her stomach was already rumbling. The helicopter was brand spanking new and he didn't want any accidents.

  • i love seeing potato sack helicopter pilots write posts.

  • This guy is a potential killer if there are passengers on board! Ignores all hazards imaginable. It is just a matter of time until Murphy's Law catches up with him. I will never get in with this lunatic...but it does look nice though.

  • @sanadek1 Tell us.....what is so dangerous about this?

  • So much for "Dead Man's Curve ah?

  • The guy needed to go the loo.... fast.....

  • Sweet!

  • That's how you build speed in a rotorcraft. Holy sh*t.

  • look how fast that thing dives, it totally fucking shit myself

  • it's not a crazy take off but just a good pilot! :-)

  • Shiza that's not even funny. That's some serious braveness and some serious skill. Nice one pilot!

  • I know this place,i have been there. It's Hornli Hut on Matterhorn. It's on altitude of 3260 ASL . It's amazing to fly so precise on this altitude.. Damn good pilot

  • @z3dcf Do you mean 3260 feet MSL? That's nothing.

  • @RobertGary1 I mean 3260 meters MSL. So it's not that low :)

  • fuckin hell...

  • holy shit!!! porco canne!! que hijue puta........que guay....damn run out or expressions.....that is fucking incredible

  • Ух клЁво!!!

  • that's not a full sized copter

  • HOLY FUCK!!!!!

  • @kamma 44

sure man, looks to me its an full size RC helicopter in the mountains,

  • Looks like he knows what he's doing but damn... I would sure like to be the passenger :O

  • Oh god yeah

  • Awesome!

  • i'd shit myself

  • me too

  • @jdsanchez473 totally

  • That guy knew exactly what was behind him and where it was safe to go. Within a couple of seconds of taking off, he'd even have a good chance of coping with an engine failure.

I still wouldn't try it at home though.

  • in afganistan soviet pilots do the same.

  • That probably is nothing for that pilot.

  • cool

  • There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are very few old bold pilots.

  • That Mr T can take off helluva cool... O_o

  • ME NEXT! ME NEXT!!!

  • Wow!

  • Thats an A-Star pilot for you

  • wow.

  • Sick.

  • i wanna fly on it noe

  • OMG!))

  • Filete!!!

  • Hell Yeah!

    Hold your panties honey :D

  • woah, and did it so smoothly too

    thats one helluva drop
