@aNtHoNyDcKiDdO just buy an Mbox it comes with the latest pro tools and a condenser mic! if your making beats you will need a midi controller and thats just to get you going. hope I helped!

@mr kodak: 2screen monitors is good for draging a mixer or plugin dialog box over while still keeping you editor and transport open. That way you dont have a crowded screen

I had that same problem with my Pro Tools, i had to reinstall it 3 times and downloaded drivers off of their site and it works fine now.. just took a while and idk why i had to do it 3 times, but yeah, try it
@hitthedeckstudios nah man get yourself some balanced xlr cables to plug into ur audio interface.. i dont remember getting any cables with mine, its been a while, but i dont think it its possible to hook directly into ur computer, i have XLR to 1/4in cables which plug into my interface and then that plugs into my comp via USB..

I'm setting up my studio. I also built my pc. Running Win7 Ult, I7 2600, 8gig ram, Sonar 8. I know my pc is plentybut I am having a hard time with Audio in. I am going between the M audio fast pro, and the M audio 1010lt soundcard. I can record midi on sonar, but can only get audio in audacity. My onboard Asus soundcard doesn't support ASIO. Any Suggestions?
I know you probably hear this all the time, but I think with your workflow your should contemplate getting Ableton Live (Suite would be best). It's weird to start out with, but I know everyone who's used it and actually learned it, never go back, including myself, and I use about everything. It's a great daw that lets you write without even hitting the stop button. It's all about those who want to feel the music while they right. Now deal with the technical stuff 24/7. Nice setup!

Hey, I think for that Pro Tools M-Powered Demo..If you can just unistall the program and then re-install it and it should work.Everytime I dissconnect my M-Box and plug it back in, whenever I move it somewhere, it says the same thing..,"make sure that your device is plugged in correctly"..somewhere around that.So I hope you get to mess around with it.Peace and God Bless.

And can u import an instrumental and record vocals over it and all that, so basically does it have all the functions that a normal recording program would have? Because I started out with audacity cuz i was broke and couldnt affort anything so i got that for free, then I got Sonar LE which came with the mic but it kept pausing while I was recording or skipping or somethin so I stopped using that and currently im using mixpad which i downloaded for free until the acid music studio 8 gets here.
How much did that interface cost u? and can u plug in a usb condenser michrophone in it? Because I have a samson C0U1 studio condenser mic and Im tryin to build a studio but all i have is just a laptop, headphones and the mic . @megamegamario13 I love Acid. Its a good program and pretty user friendly for the amount of power the program has. It has its limitiations but every version gets better about that. Pro Tools FTW tho lol
@JAYTEE2007 Nowadays, desktops at retail stores are pretty reliable. No need for a builder unless you're looking for something specific. I built my own which is great and all but mine is waaaay over the top, especially now. @SuperChicanorap Not sure what program you're using but the input track you are recording into needs to be setup as a MONO input. You're hearing one sided playback because you're track is setup to record STEREO and if you have a stereo setup on a mono input, you'll only hear one sided playback. So when inserting a new track, make sure you set it up as mono, and when you playback you'll hear it out of both speakers

I basically have the same equipment with the exception of the mixer and I have a MPD. Could I connect everything to the interface without a mixer so I can hear everything coming through the speakers?
@mayhem1914 Yea, I just use the mixer for extra inputs. The OUT of the mixer is going into one of the INPUTS on my interface so that's all its used for. My setup has changed since this video but that's all I use the mixer for now.

I was thinking on doing a straight desk 8ft wide by 3 ft deep, I'm not sure if I want to put my screen above the main level but maybe it would be nice.
Do you like having an L shaped desk? I originally thought about that but I'm not sure if it would be the best idea for my room. I've got a 10x20 room
@FreedomProductionsz I'll have to get back with you on the dimensions. Message me about them. I would rather have a straight desk but the rooms in my house are pretty small so I had to go with an L. Its worked out pretty well though.
ay i had the same problem with pro tools last night i reinstalled pro tools and it works fine whenever u turn on your computer pro tools must be connected and the guy at guitar center said its a setting u have 2 set so it will run during installation
your m-audio will not work if you plugged it up, before installing the software first, you will have to uninstall software, then re-install software, plug in hardware when it ask you to. i have a mbox protools setup, and it will not work if i plug it in before i install the software, and the same with update for protools, you to unplug unit before update and go by the directions. if not it will not work, im useing win7 ultimate 64bits. p.s look for the correct drivers, not the one's on the CD.

@lyriqdavoice I use acid pro 7 but they should look the same. I was at work earlier when I responded so I couldn't look at it but lets try again. Click 'VIEW' and check the 'MIXING CONSOLE' box. The Mixer should pull up. Now all of your tracks should be listed here. If you scroll over the icons, in one of the tracks you'll see what they mean. Below the 'ARM FOR RECORD' icon is the 'INPUT MONITOR MODE' Button. Select that and you should be good to go. Make sure your inputs are correct too.

Im loving ya studio man, but i lernt something from a top producer, and your in the corner of ya room, its bad for aound from ya speakers, you need to be in the middle if ya can, thats why when you look at studios there all in the middle level with speakers and stuff
@DJEpileptik69 Depends on what version of protools you have. If you have an M-Powered version then you will need M-Audio equipment. Any other version of protools will require you to have Digidesign equipment (ex. Mbox, Digirack, etc)

Yo, you have any suggestions for REALLY cheap electric keyboards and shit? (like under 500 dollars [under 200 would be best, but I know you pay for what you get xD]) I don't plan on going into this majorly, but I have messed around on my friends keyboard and its really fun. I just want something cheap that has a lot of different sounds I can use and some playback capability (may not be a problem if I could find a good computer program that could do it)
@wpalinckx Get a cheap midi keyboard (check out M-Audio or Axiom Keyboards) and then buy a program with VSTs (Virtual Instruments). That's probably the cheapest way to go about trying things out. Check out FL Studio or Reason, those are both good programs to start out on. There's always bootlegs around ;)

looks like you have a lot of bubbles in your coolant lines for your processor. you gotta flick em to get the bubbles out, then it cools much better. Just beware- your motor on the bigwater will eventually just die and you'll have to buy a new one. I gave this system up for a massive Noctura heatsink. Cools even better than the bigwater and its much quieter. Just tryin to look out for you.

@JAYTEE2007 Nowadays, desktops at retail stores are pretty reliable. No need for a builder unless you're looking for something specific. I built my own which is great and all but mine is waaaay over the top, especially now. This was made almost 2 years ago now and i've upgraded almost everything, but thats only cuz im a tech geek and I make good money at my day job.

@landmarqmusic I make beats too and im gettin pretty serious about it. any suggestions to make a very powerful computer? I know i need alot of RAM so i can run multiple programs at once and alot of hard drive space. I know its an over kill but i was thinkin like at least 8 gb of Ram and a tb hard drive. I also wanted to get a good motherboard, sound card, processor with a cooling system like yours. I heard gaming computers are the best to use for music, any suggestions?

hey i bought a fast track pro an i have everythin hooked up drivers and everything an i have a problem i can only hear playback from one speaker everytime i record and if i hook up the xlr cable to the 2nd input ill hear it from the right speaker! could you please help me?

@SuperChicanorap Not sure what program you're using but the input track you are recording into needs to be setup as a MONO input. You're hearing one sided playback because you're track is setup to record STEREO and if you have a stereo setup on a mono input, you'll only hear one sided playback. So when inserting a new track, make sure you set it up as mono, and when you playback you'll hear it out of both speakers

I basically have the same equipment with the exception of the mixer and I have a MPD. Could I connect everything to the interface without a mixer so I can hear everything coming through the speakers?

@mayhem1914 Yea, I just use the mixer for extra inputs. The OUT of the mixer is going into one of the INPUTS on my interface so that's all its used for. My setup has changed since this video but that's all I use the mixer for now.

Hey any chance I could maybe get an idea on the measurements of your desk? maybe not exacts but I do wanna build myself a desk. Looking for ideas I guess.
I was thinking on doing a straight desk 8ft wide by 3 ft deep, I'm not sure if I want to put my screen above the main level but maybe it would be nice.
Do you like having an L shaped desk? I originally thought about that but I'm not sure if it would be the best idea for my room. I've got a 10x20 room

ay i had the same problem with pro tools last night i reinstalled pro tools and it works fine whenever u turn on your computer pro tools must be connected and the guy at guitar center said its a setting u have 2 set so it will run during installation

The mixer added to M-audio is the issue with Pro Tools. I had the same issues until I configured the mixer.

your m-audio will not work if you plugged it up, before installing the software first, you will have to uninstall software, then re-install software, plug in hardware when it ask you to. i have a mbox protools setup, and it will not work if i plug it in before i install the software, and the same with update for protools, you to unplug unit before update and go by the directions. if not it will not work, im useing win7 ultimate 64bits. p.s look for the correct drivers, not the one's on the CD.

@lyriqdavoice I use acid pro 7 but they should look the same. I was at work earlier when I responded so I couldn't look at it but lets try again. Click 'VIEW' and check the 'MIXING CONSOLE' box. The Mixer should pull up. Now all of your tracks should be listed here. If you scroll over the icons, in one of the tracks you'll see what they mean. Below the 'ARM FOR RECORD' icon is the 'INPUT MONITOR MODE' Button. Select that and you should be good to go. Make sure your inputs are correct too.

Im loving ya studio man, but i lernt something from a top producer, and your in the corner of ya room, its bad for aound from ya speakers, you need to be in the middle if ya can, thats why when you look at studios there all in the middle level with speakers and stuff

@DJEpileptik69 Depends on what version of protools you have. If you have an M-Powered version then you will need M-Audio equipment. Any other version of protools will require you to have Digidesign equipment (ex. Mbox, Digirack, etc)

hey the reason why your m powered is saying that was because of your usb port. i had the same problem you need to go to m audio website and find the lastest update and keep switching different port. let me know if that works. that how mine finally got to work. i was pissed at first but then it came alive

Yo, you have any suggestions for REALLY cheap electric keyboards and shit? (like under 500 dollars [under 200 would be best, but I know you pay for what you get xD]) I don't plan on going into this majorly, but I have messed around on my friends keyboard and its really fun. I just want something cheap that has a lot of different sounds I can use and some playback capability (may not be a problem if I could find a good computer program that could do it)

@wpalinckx Get a cheap midi keyboard (check out M-Audio or Axiom Keyboards) and then buy a program with VSTs (Virtual Instruments). That's probably the cheapest way to go about trying things out. Check out FL Studio or Reason, those are both good programs to start out on. There's always bootlegs around ;)

@landmarqmusic Thanks man, the keyboards are reasonably priced and have good reviews online. As for the programs well...yeah, there are bootlegs :P I'm not worried about buying any of that cuz I don't see this as a major interest of mine yet.

looks like you have a lot of bubbles in your coolant lines for your processor. you gotta flick em to get the bubbles out, then it cools much better. Just beware- your motor on the bigwater will eventually just die and you'll have to buy a new one. I gave this system up for a massive Noctura heatsink. Cools even better than the bigwater and its much quieter. Just tryin to look out for you.
