  • YAY I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!

  • Adorable! Thanks for adding the ASL gloss. I'm learning to translate songs for children to perform...any suggestions for websites?

  • @memorsomnium LIFEPRINT!! that site is awesome, it even has whole lessons! just Lifeprint(dot)com

  • is the sign of "believe" similar with the sign of "want" ? bcause i see in other video that the signer sign "want" just like this signer when she signs "believe"

  • @xyz12345660 she's actually singing "want" when the word "believe" is sung. She interprets the lyrics "I'd like to make myself believe" as BELIEVE I WANT

  • Wow, honestly this is just beautiful !

  • @lineduse the great thing about interpreting is that each interpretation can be unique and different, depending on the signer (and if the signs are accurate). These signs ARE accurate. Though if you were going to perform a song in ASL you should try and interpret it yourself instead of using someone elses' interpretation.

  • @colormetastic There are blind people who sign. They will either use tactile signing or keep the signs within their visual field.

  • Awesome!!!! Your really good!!

  • ive been teaching myself asl all through 8th grade on my own just becuz i think its amazing i dont know any deaf people though and now im takin a class in high school and i would just like to say i wish allballybabe could be my teacher :D

  • you got ASL swag!

  • Me and my bestie are both learning ASL. I'm hoping I'm as good as you one day.

  • this gave me goosebumps keep it up

  • I am a person in a wheelchair so i know a little bit about being disabled and i am trying to learn asl so i can understand some of my friends who sign.

  • My only wish is that the video was better quality. You did a fabulous job, and this is my favorite rendition of the song in ASL yet - keep up the awesome work! You're definitely a huge inspiration.

  • I'll never be able to sign as fast as her. Especially at 0:40. Lightning fast! xD

  • @SarahBrennan7 Practice fingerspelling everywhere you go, as you drive, as you listen to the radio, watch tv, whenever you see a sign or whatever, and believe me, you WILL be as fast as she was when she spelled "fireflies" at :40. Practice, practice, practice. :)

  • @jenisacutiepie I sign more on the weekends, or when I'm bored. I can drive in a year, but I don't think that signing while driving is too safe. Lol. I sign to my friend, she's deaf. We usually can carry out a 10 minute conversation if she signs slow so I can understand. Or sometimes we just say "hi" or "how are you?" when we pass each other in the halls.

  • The person in front of you has a cowlick D:

  • A person who embraces ASL as their primary language will be considered a member of the Deaf community. I find many deaf friends on a Deaf dating site ----Deafornot dot c om---- Good luck to them!!!

  • @deafornot4 >A person who embraces ASL as their primary language will be considered a member of the Deaf community.

As a CODA... No. Not really. You can't be Deaf without being deaf... You can be a friend of the Deaf community, but even though I'm a CODA, and an interpreter, I am still not a true member of the Deaf community, because when it comes down to it, I CAN PHYSICALLY HEAR. I wondered all my life what its like for my dad, but I will never REALLY know total silence as he does.

  • @1RavynSkye While working for Gallaudet University in Washington DC, I have met hearing people who are considered to be part of the Deaf community. It does happen that a hearing person who is so involved with the Deaf Community is referred to as deaf and considered to be part of the Deaf community.

  • @tyndsu I really want to be apart of the Deaf Community. Its rare for a hearing person to be accepted in, but it is possible. Any tips?

  • this almost made me cry

  • @msparkermarryme From it being so awesome?

  • @SarahBrennan7 lol yea what else

  • @fiyer2086 it means something like "wow"

  • What's the sign at about 1:06 where she shakes her hand? It's right at the part where the song goes "I would just stand and stare".

  • @fiyer2089 "WOW"

  • ~.~ Yhue Sign Reallii Gud!!!?!?!?!

  • is she deaf or mute or blind?????

  • @gabys424 She's hearing.

  • congratulations! your face expressions r really good! :) keep up the good work

  • absolutely loved this! Your facial expression is always fantastic. Me and a friend of mine are signing this for a choir show this week :)

  • Alley are you deaf?

  • @LailaCassidy No Ally is not deaf. She is just very good at ASL. She has a college degree in Deaf Education.

  • This is Really neat :)

  • your amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! when did you learn sign language? and how long did it take?

  • I love your videos and how expressive you are! I have a good asl vocab but being working on my facial expressions is what I need to do.

  • I love it! Your sign is SO expressive. I have watched others who have very blank expressions. Is there an ASL dictionary? They add new words all the time to Websters. How often are new signs/words added to the ASL or any other for that matter?

  • im in costa rica and im learning asl and my friend's mother teaches at a deaf school. I already knew some costa rican sign language and then started learning asl and i was like "woah, i didn't think their would be a big difference ." Well, yep there was XD

  • @nikomakrov Yeah American Sign Language is used in the U.S, Canada, and some parts of Mexico.

  • she is absolutely gorgious. love her to watch signing

  • ur so cool. i no sign language but not as much as you. and i wanna be as good as you.

  • @BlueIrisKiller1331 no she is not deaf. if you go to her channel she describes how she is totally hearing and she just started signing when she was in middle school. so ya. and also she has other video's where she teaches you how to sign the song while she is singing and talking at the same time.

  • That was awesome!

Here are the videos of Keith Wann for that day if anyones intrested.

you dont know ASL - Keith Wann,

    lifetime ban for Keith Wann,

book keith wann now for your ASL laughter needs.

  • Thank you for this.

  • you did awsome

  • you did awsomw

  • Do you have to gloss when you do a song in ASL?

  • @Dekitaa1 yes you do

  • @Rustycode89 ohh. ive seen people that didnt. and im on a drama team and we never did gloss. I know alot of sign language but i dont know how to gloss.

  • @Dekitaa1 oh well its pretty much just reversing the sentence and such but uh you guys must have just said the song or sentence like it is and that's what pretty much everybody does so thats probly why you didnt learn it

  • @Rustycode89 Yeah thats what we do. But im trying to learn how to gloss.

  • @Dekitaa1 ask your teacher or a friend who knows it or somene deaf who knows sign language they can tell you

  • @Rustycode89 Okay. I just asked someone who knows sign language and they said everyone signs differently and that you didnt have to.

  • @Dekitaa1 k then best of luck

  • @Rustycode89 There is such thing as PSE which is signing the words, word for word.

  • @Dekitaa1 what it stand for

  • @Rustycode89 Pidgin Signed English

  • @Dekitaa1 oh cool thnxs

  • @Rustycode89 lol

  • every time i watch you i get the chills!!!!! good chills lol

iv seen alot of your videos and they are all amazing

i am in sign 2 now at my school and plan to to go Flagler to become an elementary teacher for the deaf. is there anything you could tell me a to becoming to well in sign as you are?(:

  • LOVE IT! I want to learn sign language so badly thanks to you!

  • you just made sign language sexy

  • How many years did it take you to learn this much? This is my first year. I'm learning since my friend is deaf. :)

  • You're so cool :) I'd love to meet you!

  • i think this is really cool! My friend showed me and i think your awesome!!!!!

  • i got into ASL cause it's just like dancing.

    except with your hands~

    :D

  • i'm 14 years old, and i am inspired by the deaf language................i'm actually learning it myself

  • i'm 14 years old, and i love the deaf language..............its so amazing to watch ppl talk with their hands and am learning to do it myself

  • Thank you! Finally! There's SO many versions of this on youtube, and you're the only person I've seen who doesn't use the sign "make" for "I'd like to make myself believe". In ASL, that sign does NOT work that way and I had almost lost faith in humanity, but then you used proper ASL grammar. Yay!

  • Hi, if ASL is different from other countries sigh language, does this mean ppl outside USA won't understand it?

  • @xXLittleTearXx Mostly they won't, no. The US and English-speaking Canada are ASL's homeland, and British Sign, for example, is totally different.

Two reasons someone might understand a little: First, ASL is partly based on French Sign Language, and some other SLs are too. Second, ASL has got schools that teach it, lots of signers, dictionaries, writing systems ... which give it prestige and global influence. Just as speakers borrow English words worldwide, some other signers borrow from ASL.

  • @eritain

    Thanks for answering C:

  • WOW!! Amazing!!! I LOVE wathcing ur videos X)

  • is there a copy of this with the asl subtitles like tik tok, im just learning, and I love how you sign, but im kinda lost with the speed on fireflies, and tik tok made more sense seeing what signs I was watching and Im very poor at signing like I dont already speak. I sign like I talk which isnt right, its over complex. thanks!

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Oh my word... This makes me wish my school,or any local gathering place of sorts, had a class to teach sign language!! I think learning ASL would be just as importent,if not more, than spanish. You are so inspiring!!! <3

  • Just watched the whole thing speechless (no pun intended) with my wife. We were in awe and without words to describe your beautiful performance.

    * Hands shaking in the air *

You have a gift, and it comes across with grace and honesty. Well done.

  • the top three sexiest things that a girl should learn to do: Sing, Dance and sign language.

  • You are just so much fun to watch, and what a great idea. I saw you on ABC News and wanted to see more of your videos, and this one is my favorite thus far. Thanks for sharing your passion!

  • i love that you do this :]

  • I've always had a fascination with ASL, ever since I was a little girl. I used to watch a show called Signing Time with Alex and Leah, and tried my best to learn how to sign, but it didn't work out very well.

However, these videos of your make me incredibly emotional for reasons I can't describe. You have such talent and you are amazing at what you do. Never stop. ;___; <3

  • Thank you so much. My daughter is12 and is deaf with cochlear implants. Music is still very hard for her to understand. She loves the fact she can listen to the music with her little sister and watch you sign. Again thank you.

  • @ADTDOG thats what i was wondering, because if your deaf.... and you clap....you dont know how loud it is? uuum, lol, not that it would matter in a room full of clapping people!

  • @KeswickCamp08 Most Deaf people prefer to sign their applause (hence the people shaking their hands in the air) if they know the performer(s) understand the gesture. However, if they were at a more traditional performance, they would clap and just look to a friend or family member for a cue to stop.

  • @JellicleKitten cool!

  • do you do Christian songs? i would really be interested in seeing a certain song we do at camp Chapel.... we sing, then it speeds up, and just speeds up every time we sing it again, and its a GREAT, VERY FUN song...

  • totally awsome!!

  • I have a friend who is fluent in dutch. She speaks it often with her family when I am over. Although I don't know dutch, it feels as if I have a general idea of what they are saying. I know the things they are saying has logic and communication behind it, I just don't know what they are saying. I have the same feeling when I see you sign.

  • Great job Ally

  • @ADTDOG That is how they clap, since they wouldn't be able to hear a "clap".

  • Hey Ally I Have A Friend Shes Deff And Im Trying To Teacher He You Belong With Me By Taylor Swift So Far Im Trying My Best But I Don't Know How To Do That Much Sign So If you're not busy can you make a vidoe of that One? Please

  • You should make tutorial videos for people who want to learn how to sign the songs! It would be so awesome and amusing to be able to do that randomly when it plays on the radio :)

  • Awesome. I'm glad this is geing done!!!! Hurraahhhhh!!!!

  • Awesome dude. You rocked it. You stayed on beat wonderfully.

  • You seriously aced it. You killed it. Your expression is absolutely excellent along with sign languages which is a must, at least in some events and such that are like this and among others. You definitely have talent in you, if you never came from a family that are hearing impaired then I sure don't know where the hell you got your talent from, because the way you signs it seems authentic than learning from college.

  • since its called AMERICAN sign language, does that mean that its different in other countries?

  • @nikomakarov yep! that's absolutely correct! :)

  • @allyballybabe thats so cool

  • @allyballybabe One question that's been in my head for a while is, how to deaf Chinese people communicate? It's not like Spanish, or another language, where they have an alphabet. Do you know, by any chance? I asked my Chinese teacher, and he didn't know either XD

  • @FF7RLZ There are many different "languages" for signing. ASL is just American Sign Language. There's also French Sign Language, and presumably Spanish Sign Language and Chinese Sign Language.

  • @FF7RLZ There is a good article in LifePrint about Chinese Sign Language (CSL). And I did a quick Google search which provided several CSL dictionaries and tutorials including some on YouTube. You might try a Google search for shouyu.chinalrbk and look at the robroad which provides numerous website links.

  • @nikomakarov there is FSL, french sign language and BSL, british sign language. As well as complete english signing. Just a few examples!

  • @nikomakarov yes every country has their own sign language

  • @nikomakarov

ASL is based off of french. It has its own structure form. In english we link words together to make a sentence structure, ASL doesnt do that, its understood.

  • @nikomakarov However it does share a lot of similarities with French Sign Language

  • This is amazing! Geez. How long did it take you to remember all of the signs?

  • so...my communications class, we watched a couple ASL videos..i've known the alphabet but thats it..I really wanna learn! you are awesome!

  • your great ALLY... You are awesome at ASL

  • My school is doing love changes everything for the winter concert

  • you are very awesome I am not deaf but have a son that is taking sign in school and I truly enjoy watching your videos I have even cried watching them due to the beautiful emotion you translate. God bless you and keep on doing this amazing work.

  • Excellent!! Loved the song and the ASL translation. Funny how there are people that don't like the video, lol to them! Awesome! _lml

  • These videos make me wish I took ASL in school

  • Hey ally! good to see your acc back up and running :) great job on fireflis

  • thank you for educating other in correct ASL form... there are lots of people out there that are hearing that are not being true to ASL and the Deaf, Again thank you,

  • WOW!!!!! I LOVED IT....good job

  • Phenomenal would be an understatement.

  • WOW. ur facial expressions and interpretations were absolutely amazing.

  • @iluvcandyhaha yeah that THANK YOU!! i was a little confused there.

  • This was just BEAUTIFUL! You are walking poetry! The fact that it's different than the way Torrence does it adds many layers and textures. Just like when different singers perform a song changing up tempo or even lyrics, those differences ADD to the overall musical experience! Torrence does Fireflies one way, you do it another ~ AS IT SHOULD BE! Both versions are wonderful! Bravo to you for your rendition! Delightful in every way!

  • I Love most of the video's that I just saw. I am doing ASL the wind beneath my wings for a funeral and I was hoping to find that song under your name but no luck. Keep up the good work girl. my request is to do the song "Wind Beneath My Wings". Oh for the ignorant people ignor them. They are not worth it!

  • awesome!!!

  • What was that where you were waving your hand by your hip?

  • @MistaOctavio you mean in the beginning? that just means music :)

  • ASL is for deaf people, its like another language, you study it, practice it and then perfect it

btw:you did an awesome job :D

  • Very nice job with the signs, i'm learnig ASL this semester and i was thinking about doing this song for my project, but i dont think i could do justice to it the way you have. Great job.

  • i love this i wish i saw ur videos sooner. thank you.

  • your vids are so cool. since i have started watching them ive been working harder on learning sign language. ive been workin on it a few years but until recently i have never gotten farther than the alphabet and a few random easy signs here and there. i think that since i have started watching ur vids i have learned more than i have on my own i think asl really cool. i decided 2do my senior project on the importance of asl in society.sorry abt writin u a book lol i hope1day i will b as good as u

  • your videos are seriously an inspiration. you're amazing!

  • You do an amazing job at signing and using facial expressions when you do the songs in asl i hope that i can be as good as you. Keep up the good work

  • dear Ally.... have you ever thought of doing this song like the others? like... not a live version?

  • Where did you learn to sin? You're ASL is beautiful. I took 3 years in hs but haven't really signed since then and I miss it so much! Excellent job, I will be watching the rest of your videos right away! Thank you!!

  • You,re very good!

  • beautifullllll!!!! I'm your fan!!! that's great!

  • I love your videos! I am an ASL student and I am only about two months in the class and I really like it! When you sign the song I can follow along and learn a few signs.

  • You did a grate job. =^.-=

  • wonderfully done Ally. peace & love form Australia. Our AUSLAN is not dissimilar to your ASL. i understood much of what you were signing.

Thank you for what you do

  • You are just amazing!!! I love watching your videos! I work with special ed children, mostly autistic, as a teacher assistant. I went to my community college and took 1 semester of ASL to learn some basic signs to help my students. I enjoyed the class, but didn't realize how hard it was to transfer the sign (in my brain) to english if you know what I mean! I had to do sign to a song and it was really hard for me! Thanks again for all of your videos and good luck teaching!

  • I love how songs have so much more emotion when being signed because you literally have to put your whole body into it. You can't have a straight face since your facial expressions are kind of like grammar in ASL. Very cool.

  • @Princess100112 ?? Because its AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE

  • @allyballybabe LMAO! :)

  • @allyballybabe r u really cant hear anything? =(
