That why the north won....men decide wars...boys lose wars..
@Limazulu85 LOL stands for "Laughing out Loud". You're joking about me joking right? You didn't actually think I believed that Matthew Broderick is somewhere between 165-175 years old? Maybe he found the "Fountain of Youth" where Ponce de Leon had failed.
My great great grandfather served the Confederacy in the Orleans Artillery, and two great great uncles were in the Bienville Rifles. I found these images to be terribly poignant, particularly the very last one, and I concur with another poster that this era feels very deeply familiar to me; as if I had been a part of it in some previous existence. I don't doubt the possibility at all, and in fact it is a high probability. Thank you very much for this video, which is painful yet proud.
I don't know what it is but I have this enormous affinity fpr the American civil war. I'm not trying to glorify what would have been a nightmare for the common soldier but for some reason I am drawn to all things American circa 1860s. Apart from the historical aspect I feel almost as if I could have been there. A bit crazy I know but that's how strong I feel about it. It really wasn't that long ago when you put things into perpective, as little as 3 generations is possible. Thanks for the post
Great Post! My great great grandfather fought in the civil war with the First South Carolina Regulars (Infantry) and he was from Anderson S.C. My southern relatives still refer to the war as "THE WAR OF YANKEE AGGRESSION".
two of my ancestors were in the civil war as well. one fought for the union, and he was a german from wisconsin. the other was a virginian who I believe was distantly from england, and he fought for the confederacy. both died in the battle of gettysburg; the union ancestor died on day1 and the confederate one died during pickett's charge on day 3,
Excellent collection of great, brave souls. I feel I was there, too, in a past life but as a woman who lost husband and sons.
