  • Great voice;

  • Both of them sang from their heart & became imortal ,but as tribute Talat sang this for the Great Mohd Rafi & in original Film it was sang by Mohd Rafi ...God bless both of them ////

  • Both were superb and had their own class . We will never hear to such voices again . I did not know that Talat had also sung this song and hearing him now is simply mesmerizing .

  • We can't compare Rafi and Talat based on one song. There are thousands of Rafi songs in lower note that can't even be imagined in talat's voice...abhi na jao, tere mere sapne, din dhal jaye hain, uparwala jaankar anjaan hain, aise to na dekho, and so on..

  • Thanks for uploading this rare gem and also for the background information

  • No comparison between an apple and an orange. Both touch the heart and bring tears in the eyes.We should be proud that we are blessed with such gems. They may not physically live with us any more but their voice shall never leave us up till our last breath.

  • I THINK POETRY IN SUB CONTINENT indo, pak its LAZAWAL, You cant find such huge poetry toch to 7th heavens,I think we cant find such things no any where in any language,Truth is mostly poets was in india,INDIA give birth many great mens,i think subcontenent ke mati hi different hai,

  • Beautiful song by Talat. Comparisans between singers who is better is a personal choice. Just enjoy these masterpieces before these are last. Thanks.

  • Beatiful song by Talat. Comparisans between singers who is better is a personal choice. Just enjoy these masterpieces before these are last. Thanks.

  • Psyche1954: I did not call the music composers of Talat's era "blind". I called them mediocre. To really appreciate Talat, one must have very sensitive ear drums. The voice is so delightful, vibrating, smooth and always under control. The moorkian are so subtle. Rafi also had these qualities in him except that at very low range, he did not give the subtle moorkian like Talat and went into higher notes, where he was unique. Rafi told a gathering that he found it very difficult to compete with Ta

  • I think one just can't compare the two legend singers. Both of the are still role models for all who loves them. GOD bless them.

  • Voices of both were made for different songs I.e Tasveer banata hoon tasveer nahi banti could only be sung by talat, not Rafi while O duniya ke rakhwaley could only be sung by Rafi and not talat. Rafi was most suited for higher pitch songs while talat for lower pitch. If u have heard both the voices with out any instinctly discrimination then u will not compare them as they are completly different.

  • @asifsongs

Asif Talat Saheb can also sing in Pancham sur but he sounds great in middle scale as you mentioned . The composers for both legendry singers know what melody to be composed to suite their scales etc. Listen to Kaisi hassen aaj Sitaroon ke raat hay ( Talat and Rafi saheb duet)

  • This is a briliant version Iam glad Ilistenedto it it is just a different approach and a commendaable one at that Bravo doctor sahib I have subscribed to your channel! Can you post Bade Ghulam Ali khan sahib's version please?

I have heard bade ghulam Ali Khan sahib's private music concert recordings and he was a lovely man, was actually a chatter box and LOVED chatting to his audience! He would go into details about the nuances of raag and taans and sing examples! Brilliant! very conversational

  • I agree that the public is not sophisticated enough to judge the merits of the Rafi and Talat versions. Occasionally, the sales of a song point as to how good it is. We also do not need the knowledge of Barrey ghulam Ali khan to come to a correct conclusion. Talat has sung this excellent tune better than perfectly. It is a pity that the movie did not have this version along with the Rafi version. May be I will make a movie and request permission to put both versions in it. Music like this is so

  • I have been searching for the Rafi version on YouTube but could not find it. Could somebody put it on.

  • @Milahi1935 its posted by so many if u search under Film Bhabhi

  • @Milahi1935 i will try for you,Rafi andTalat were blessed with voices that can never be found from any other artists.AMEEN

  • Let the people decide which version is better by putting both versions in the movie. I have heard both rafi and talat and I would prefer the talat version.

  • @Milahi1935 who the hell are people to judge? is it a public demand show or is it democracy? this is a serious judgement related to ART.. people can only like or dislike..popularity is not a standard.. judge wo karay jo Talat say baRa gawayya ho, ya jis say sara Talat aur sara Rafi suna ho ya jo classical ka itna ilm rakhta ho k Talat aur Rafi ki har taan ki depth ko samjhay.. Judge BaRay Ghulam Ali Khan karen to baat bhi hay..public sirf sunay aur wah wah karay..bus.

  • @lovehumanity Great yar. Both are beyond words and imagination. No comparison. Love them both.

  • @Milahi1935 well..... I like both voices, Talat and rafi..... but for ur kind information both voices are completely different ........... one is heavy but very melodious .... the other is light but soft. No comparison at all.....Some time I prefer to listen Rafi while the other time I prefer Talat. And by the way if u are challenging by putting both songs in front of public assuming that talat version is better than don't forget that there are countless die heart fans of Rafi.

  • @Milahi1935

You are right this composition is much suited for Talat Saheb. Gentleman Ghazal singer with best Urdu pronunciation. Superb ghazal singer with his unique style. Too bad Naushad Saheb did not get on well with him due to one small misunderstanding.

  • The movie should have put both versions in it and let the people des

  • Talat has excelled Rafi in certain parts of this great song. At the end of this song, Rafi takes his voice up and away all the way to the seventh heaven. That is why, I think that Rafi's song made it to the movies. Talat said that Rafi was the greatest singer ever. Talat was very kind in saying that, for Talat must be the second greatest ever. I am sorry that the music directors did not give them more songs and people like me were robbed of great music. The quality of voice, which is something

  • @Milahi1935

I think the music directors were NOT deaf or blind! Talat'svoice did lack the "Punch" and so when Dramatic excesses were anticipated they chose Rafi in preference! A soft lilting romantic interlude would of course demand Talat's particiration like "jalte hain jiske liye" Or "Jayen to jayen kahan"!

*Chal ud Ja re panchi* DID NEED Rafi's "Umph" factor! I think!

  • This song was always dear but this version really made me cry. thanks a lot sir.

  • This song was always dear but this version really made me cry. thanks a lot sir.

  • @kiranmoon09 am obliged by your sweet words of encouragement :-)

wish you all the happiness in life too :-)

  • Very touchy and memorable song.

Eventhough Talat sings, in rare gem collection, would have been also popular and memorable as memorable of Mohd. Rafi.

Both the singers are different in their class. I love both these singers.

  • thanks sir (@lovehumanity) for uploading such wonderfull song

i want to thank you but don't have words to express

  • thanks sir (@lovehumanity) for uploading such wonderfull song

i want to thank you but don't have words to express

  • There are subtle differences in the renditions. The assertiveness, emphasis and pathos are not up to the mark in case of Talat's rendering. Not for nothing, Rafi Saheb was emperor of emperors when it comes to playback singing !!!

  • @chella19

No, sir! Talat is simply superb. Rafi was a great singer. But, then Talat is unique. There are people like me who would listen nothing and no one but Talat. And let us not compare two geniuses lightly. Talat's rendition of this song is heart-rending and so touchy. Thanks for bringing us such a nice song sung by Talat.

  • the PICTURE collection, extra ordinary

  • I wasn't expecting Tallat Mehmood to sing so perfectly like Mohammed Rafi sahab did .. Its amazing ... Thanks for uploading dude ... Another gym in my store :)

  • @lovehumanity , This songs chal udja re panchi was First Recorded by Talat Mehmood but demand from

someone or other reason ( which I don´t know ) again recoreded this time with Mohd.Rafi .

  • @taklatakli plz check the description for details.. everything is there for you :-)

  • dr B ji

thank you for your many great uploads BUT this is just not on.

there is a saying 'IF ITS NOT BROKEN DON'T TRY FIXING IT'

  • Utterly different voices, the same glorious pathos, superb ability and God sent talents sing the same unforgettable song perfectly! How is this possible? Do we deserve to receive such a priceless gift?

Thank you to that other master, Dr. Bukhari.

  • @ib422000 thanx for ur sweet words..

i wish i cud have it in the voice of Salim Raza too..

may be a heaven-project in the life after death..

will you be there with me to request it then?

  • @lovehumanity

I agree! Salim Raza had that great star quality in his voice, too.I used to sing one song of his in my performances, and it was very often requested, "Ae dil kisi ki yaad men'.

Of course, if heaven exists, then you, and through your influence, I get front row seats to the celestial concerts, we will request Rafi, Talat, Saleem and Manna to sing this and all their songs, one verse per singer!

What a treat that will be!

  • It is true that chal udja re panchi was sung by Talat Mehmood first . Thereafter in case again recorded with

    Mohd. Rafi .

  • Both legends unforgettable

  • Rafi had a command on any kind of songs and was special and rocked you name it and he had it ..Bravo

  • Talat Mahamood...a very great singer...I love him.....However i still maintin...the Guru...Grand Master....the Maestro among them all ....The late great...Mohammed Rafi Sahib...Jairaj Singh ...T&T....

  • surprising , i never think that it is possiable. great song great singer . wah . inever read any thing about this that this song also sung by talat.

  • Wow. This is indeed a masterpiece. It doesn't matter who has sung better here. The story itself is so fascinating.

  • Zindagi Dene Wale Sun Teri Duniya Se Dil Bhar Gaya DIL-E-NADAN (1953). Another gr8 song sung by Talat Ji.

  • zbrdst

  • It is a rarte song no doubt. In the olden days we use to hear same song sung by male and female singers.Specially S-J used this method with great success. As kids we used hear such songs in Radio Cylon regularly. Thanks for posting this song.

  • Thanks Dr Bukhari Sb , the antara by Talat sb sounds better as he has taken it with very subtls and soft change in note compared to Rafi sb also this is sung in lower key than Rafi sbs key thats why sonds very soft. thanks for this collection I will always be greatful.

  • Dear Dr. Bukharisaheb, Crores of Salams (Salutes) for this rare treasure. Tu si great ho.

  • Just Awesome Song..it did touch my soul and bought tears of joy ... Thanks for uploading this song..

  • wonderful. Thanks. listened first time in T M's voice

  • great indian

  • great indian

  • Wah.. Kiya yadain hein iss gane ke saath.. Thankyou Bukhari saheb.

  • Ilyas Bhai am glad that u liked it :-)

    khush rahiay... salamati ho..

  • my all time favourite song.lintened this song 1000's times.

    cannot forget.

  • melodious song good lyrics fantastic composition heartful rendering by talat mehmood but Rafi ka javab nahi

  • song is definitively sung by Rafi . No question about it however song is great music is lovely and lyrics awesome. i like talat version better than Rafi

  • Dear Dr Bukhari, There is a place to say that God has blessed you in your life. You seems to be a great soul dearer to the Almighty. I solut to you. I am happy to listen songs of Rafi Sahab and Lalad sahab sung togather. How ever, it is a great enjoyment which rerely would be understood amongs the people.

I prey for your good health and spirit.

  • very informative comment. another song from the same movie, "chhupa kar meree ankho ko wo poochhe kaun hai ji hum" is also very good.

  • hats off.....for some rare photographs....really feeling good to see such video..

  • both rafi and talat have their own styles......both are great

  • Talat's version- soothing

    Rafi's version- heart wrenching

  • wah wah... aapne kamal kar diya yeh moti dekar hum sab ko... Talat Saab excels in this version, the depth of emotion adds meaning to this gr8 song

  • The first time I heard this song, then of course, sung by Rafi Sahab, many, many moons ago, I instantly fell in love with it. Now hearing it sung by a man who not only bears my name--but sings it with such controlled vibrations of his voice, my love for it has reached new heights. Talat Mahmood Sahab has excelled himself in this particular song---I won't be surprised, if he's asked to sing it to us in the life to come.

  • thanks for such rare Gem.

  • Thank you! Great work, interesting info!

  • nice collection

  • love rafi but talats version much better

  • Million thanks for sharing this. What a beautiful rendering!

It brought tears to my eyes.

  • A rare occasion indeed and thanks for this song. Talat had his own style and so did Rafi. As someone has said Lotus and Rose should not be compared. Each has its own beauty. Well those were the great times, when melody was the queen and we had five gems in Hindi - Rafi, Talat, Manna

    Dey, Mukesh and Hemant Kumar.

  • Very melodious song. Originally this song was sung by Talat instead of Rafi

  • @narindershaunak ..sorry sir.. Talat sang it very late ..on demand of HMV who produced a series of cover versions songs like this. For more details plz check my description just under the playing window. Thanx for being with us.

  • @lovehumanity .... It is a great collection indeed. Thanks. But do you or anybody else know that Raj Kapur had given playback for himself in an old film? What was the name of that film?

  • @sinhaharendra Raj Kapoor had given playbak for himself in two films

TheFirst was Dil Ki Rani [Raj Kapoor & Madhu Bala, Music Director : Kumar Shachindra Dev Varman later He had known as S.D.Burman] and The Second was Jaan Pehchan

  • absolutely right

  • @lovehumanity Gentlemen, what better tribute to both these legendary singers that we are on the internet, debating whose original this really was! And refreshing that there are still some of us who value this gold.

  • @lovehumanity , This songs chal udja re panchi was First Recorded by Talat Mehmood but demand from

someone or other reason ( which I don´t know ) again recoreded this time with Mohd.Rafi .

  • Both Talat and Rafi are in the class of their own. this is such a treasure to hear this song in talat's voice--------------

  • Ok Talat sahab did sing this in his sweet voice , however the selected voice of Rafiji deserved the place in the film - after I listened to Rafi's version his voice has that special filmy clarity and I can understand as to why Rafi's version made it to film.

  • Talatsaab & Rafisaab are gr8 singers in their own respect & ways. But here Talatsaab just sings exactly the way Rafisaab has sung the song and doesn't attempt to do extra to show his superiority or something like that. Such a SAADAGEE, pure gem as a singer & as a person too. Kahaan Gaye woh log?? Shaayad woh jamaanaa hee kuch alag thaa.

  • Perfect in Talat Mehmood's voice too.

  • Of course Rafi has sung this song very beautifully, but in Talat's voice, it really touches to the innermost core of the heart. Very soothing and velvety. I don't want to compare between them as they both have respected each other through out their lives. But personally I like this song in Talat's voice more. Heartiest thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of work.

  • Great song, lyrics and great voices singing it. Great composition.

  • wow, I never imagined Talat Mehmood singing Rafi sab's song!

He has such a melodious voice with the trademark 'shiver' which puts a light feather touch to the song, something Rafi's more emotion laden and higher pitched/ranged voice could not do...with all respects to both great men...

  • these r the singers !

  • Just wonderful - I can't stop listen to - thank you lovehumanity for posting that video with rare pics and that beautiful voice ..

  • beautiful song, as my Dad loves it and brought tears in his eyes,i love whatever my father loves, Thank you for uploading !

  • best pottery by pardeep

  • Can anybody ask for better than this from a King Talat!?

  • Brilliant !!!!!!!!!

  • I cannot agreewith you. Talat had the most unique voice, nobod could imitate him ever. A most beauiful man with a beautiful voice. Please do not ever compare him with past or present singer. His loss is greater than ever in the music industry.

    1945Moby

  • talat mahmood sahib, mohamed rafi sahib greats

  • one can easily notice a shiver in TALAT's voice ... rafi rendered it much better ------- an all time great score by chitre gupt and sweet lyrics by rajindra krishan.

  • As far as I know, Talat sang the song originally but Rafi was replaced due to commercial/popular reasons. No doubt both sang beautifully but in my humble opinion in higher tones Rafi has no comparison.

  • no doubt his voice is much better and beautiful.... better than original.....

  • we in south asia were blessed by god to have such vocal playback singers- like

MOHAMMED RAFI - TALAT MAHMOOD- MANNA DEY-MUKESH- and many others

  • what a graet artist. a singer with great voice

  • EXCELLENT.

  • Thanks Dr. Bukhari for this great song in Talat mahmood's voice. From where did you get this? Do you have any other collection like this?

  • The film required a powerful and emotional elegy to a separation. He does it with great perfection. But the words have deeper meanings in other contexts too. The more contemplative and subdued rendition of Talat Saab I believe captures those. His version is not particularly suited to the specific scene but more appropriate for a time when the emotions have not died out completely but feeling are even deeper. In my humble opinion, we get an emotional Rafi and a more subtle Talat.

  • It is difficult to compare these two giants. First of all, Rafi Saab sang it for a particular scene of a particular film. I just watched the clip along with the film. His rendition is perfect for that occasion. Anyone with the memory of that film will prefer his version. However the song itself has a life on its own (not being just part of the film) and others are welcome to come up with their interpretations.

  • Great yaar. Really Rafi's base voice.

  • Talat is great

    IRC

  • Talat's mesmerizing, mellifluous voice

has no parellal. Similarly Rafi's voice is

equally incomparable. Talat is the emperor in his field. Rafi is an emperor

in all fields. Talat is King of ghazals and slow-moving melodies. Rafi's base voice, which is very special

  • I think Talat's voice has a specially beautiful, mesmerising effect on the song.

However Rafi had this unique ability of scaling at very high pitch without losing sweetness and yet without sounding feminine. No other singer in history could ever be Rafi.

  • This is a good tribute from one great singer to another. However, Talat or any other singer to that matter just does not have the range of Mohd Rafi. He was a class apart and will remain so. The range of emotions, command of classical singing, and utter devotion to singing is what represents Mohd. Rafi.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • Both Rafi and Talat are great in their own rights. This song however covers sad experience that almost every human being experiences. Often we dont receive the acknowledgement or recognition for our sacrifices for our near and dear ones. It is exactly this theme coupled with such great voice and sweet music that touches our hearts. It is the truth and reality of life that we experience in our day life and come across the same in this beautiful song.

  • however Talt saab also sings very well....but rafi saab is the most special one...

  • i learnt about your stock of songs from comments . i am thrilled with this and the background of the making . thank you very much. i have a request. you surely have the song "yeh duniya roop ki chor / bacha le mujhe ..." from shabnam (1949).i enjoyed the song in my school days.i find the song posted in youtube but we cannot listen nor download it because of some error ( as shown in the clipping). many like me are eager for the song. would you plz upload the song to youtube, if you have.

  • a rare upload. i enjoyeed talat singing chal ud jare panchhi from bhabhi.

  • awesome !!!!!!

  • Yes awesome! One single word is enough for a heart gladdened and overcome. Rafi or Talat, this song has its own innate melody, even when I sing it to myself in my croaky voice. Each word a glittering gem string together by a silken voice and flowing tune.

  • thank you sir..awsome

  • And thank you Sohihs....

  • The younger generation muslims have such a dilemma and so misguided about the beauty of Indian music...Talat or Mukesh, Rafi sahib or Manna Dey...Hemant Kumar or Naushad....does it make any difference, no it does not....we respect their music...and nothing else matters...

  • listen i am a sikh and have loved both talat and rafi so dont know what to say i guess they belonged to US meaning human race

  • Well said bro, No need to say that You are sikh or inidian or paki,

The song is really great and we should enjoy it

god bless you . and may all of us go to heaven after death :)

  • thanks i appreciate your feeling :)

  • Can I add here that all these gr8 singers

were genuine & had natural admiration 4

each other like RAFI & KISHORE had

photo posters of each other in their rooms

    & admired their counterparts.TSTALUJA

  • i have heard the same song sang by rafi shab. But i nfind this song is sang beter by talat mahmood than rafi shab.

  • Tapan Bose was a bengali hindu from Kolkata. He fell in love with a bengali christian girl. Their parents objected to their marriage so they found convenience in islam. It also made a lot of commercial sense for who would like to hear gazals from a Tapan Bose. This also expanded his audience. bengali . He has sung bengali songs also. These are talented people - who knows whether he was really converted or not. In one of the pictures here you see him as original. A.R.Rahman - the same case

  • the masters voice rafi sir

  • Good song Muzammil says

  • Talat was actually Tapan Bose from Kolkata.

  • was he coverted then to islam?

  • the other way round - he was a muslim and took a hindu name to appeal to the hindu majority in bengal. I dont think it was as much of a communal thing as it was a norm in those days. So you will find many muslim actors of that time having hindu names - Dilip kumar was yusuf khan, Madhubala was Mumtaz Begum Jehan Dehlavi, Meena kumari was originally Mahjabeen Bano, Shyama was Khurshid Akhtar and so on.

  • well i know that madubala,s name was mumtaz, knew dilip kumar was yusuf but to hide from his father bcz his father did not want that he goes to cinema, madubala i do not know ,meena kumari was muslim i do not know too. BUt talat mahmood was a muslim born in avery consernative family he was not converted, check it please in google wikipedia,i knew that but i also checked again yeasterday

  • come now, fly away bird for this land has become a stranger. Finished are the days on the branch you perched. Today here and tomorrow there, like a Jogi. This was not your's just for you for a little while. Fly away now bird for this land is no longer yours. You picked each straw to make a house. The rain wet your feathers, the suns heat you worked under. Do not sorrow if your work did not benefit you, it's better to give something than to take it away...

  • this was played at a funeral there was a not a single dry eye including people who did not speak hindi but this was beaurifully translated

  • One of the best singing a great sing by the best ever

  • mesmerizing voice.

  • Though both are the great singers but nutrally he can be rated the best whose voice touches your heart. In that case, I think Talat saab has won the battle!!!! Isn't it fair too?
