You guys need more training. Just a few quick observations of the fundamentals. Failure to duck below windows and failure to jump over basement windows and loopholes. You guys perform a "I'm high and your low" and the team quickly comes running out at the same time. Did not leave any time for you guys to engage or provide accurate cover if there was a threat in order to allow them to pass. The Soldier running down the alley alone and then turns the corner without pieing it first.
Parents teach your children the Constitution. Especially if they are military and swore an oath to it. Otherwise, you may find them confiscating your guns someday.
It's amusing to me that you clearly have no concept of Army ROTC operations... We are not about to deploy. As hard as it may be, keep in mind that we are:
1) Doing full-time college classes
2) Are severely underfunded (that's an understatement)
3) Only get so many days to actually do any training
4) Don't think we are the coolest thing since sliced bread.
We know it's not pre-deployment, active duty type training, all you are doing is being Mr. Obvious. Thanks.
@mcdunlo corps core, higher ups say that anyway. do before you complain that's what they say so never thought of correcting them. lol! anyway go diss someone else i don't have time for childish arguements. :]
@xXw4l4b2Xx saying something the right way isn't a childish argument. the difference between saying and writing something the right way (CORP) and saying and writing it the wrong way (CORE???) is the difference between being smart, and being a dumbass. and "higher ups" that say CORE should obviously not be higher ups. they don't even know how to wirte or say the name of the orginization they are in charge of?
@G60ed77 ROTC training is about half-speed real Army training. Half-speed real Army training is not hard by itself, but imagine trying to do it while maintaining a 3.5 GPA...very very difficult.
Almost any school with an Army ROTC detachment will offer this same thing, although they will not offer SAD, which is looked upon negatively by many members of the Corps nowadays.
Hence, I said that the set up is looked upon negatively by members of the Corps, who mostly do not go and watch what SAD does. Last year, they were OPFOR for a National Guard unit and performed well in that regards. That handful of guys who went down there more than decimated the, if I recall correctly, battalion with which they trained. As with all things that are open to all, there are good and bad examples within the bunch.
I just graduated with a degree in History. We have LOADS of liberal arts classes, although not the kinds you are probably used to seeing at a normal college. The only art class we have is art history, there isn't any hands-on (but there used to be). It's about half and half but we've been known as an engineering school for a long while. I can honestly say you really can't go wrong with picking either type of major at VMI, both areas of academia have AMAZING faculty and programs.
@2011VMICadet well the main reason I didnt go there is because they dont offer political science so instead im attending Norwich. Ive checked out the Citadel too and Norwich offered everything I was wanting out of the experience. Besides the Citadel lol I think both schools have outstanding faculty and programs Norwich just offered what i wanted man no pun intended.
I'm glad you found a school that suites your desires, that's really what it's all about. I guess now would be a bad time to inform you we do in fact have political science here. Oh well. Of course VMI calls it "international studies," but it's poly sci alright. VMI does a lot of things differently compared to most schools, it's unfortunate but you really have to pry deep into the Institute to fully understand it. Did you attend an open house?
@2011VMICadet No it is not a bad time to inform me of this as I said earlier Norwich just suites me yes I have attended an open house about a year ago and im pretty sure international studies is different because Norwich also offers that as well. And its not only VMI that has its traditions every military college/academy does and like VMI you have to dig down and wait it out to fully understand them I still have the upmost respect for you and all other cadets from rival schools because we are
Well I meant what I said about being glad you found a place that best suits you, being somewhere you don't like or isn't living up to what you wanted is frustrating. I think each school has its own unique traditions that really set it apart in unique ways but ultimately it all boils down to the same type of experience. People argue all day about the details of how hard or easy it was but ultimately most options you choose will be challenging.
@ninjatit yeah, thats what forbes rated VMI. Another piec of info i found out is VMI has something like 98% of their faculty holds Phds while the academys is much lower because they can only higher within the Military. West Point only like 50%.
so im thinking about joining this and i was wondering what all goes on at this.... "fine" institute

@bnctaj If thats the case, then how often do you think they do things similiar to this? Why is that?
Lyr1calbeast 10 months ago
@Lyr1calbeast
SAD does it weekly, but not with airsoft guns. SAD also goes and shoots. Other ROTC's might do it once per semester.
bnctaj 10 months ago
@bnctaj
SAD is a joke at VMI. Most of them are wannabees, though I heard they did good training about 4-6 years ago.
