  • Why have animals? Seriously. Animals need food. Food needs to be grown. Which means that youll need alot of land to grow food for animals which could instead have gone to growing food for humans. If you want meat its better to hunt animals that get their food from the wild instead.

  • Hey isn't this the guy who founded military psychological operations? He's one of the bad guys man! He's a war criminal responsible for the torture of tens of thousands of people! Don't listen to this guy he's totally evil. He's just coming up with excuses for a military crackdown! Plus he's a white supremest!

  • I can see how someone might feel that way. However, I know this man well. If you watch the movie, "Men Who Stare at Goats", you'll see that he is one of the few really good guys. He went his own way and a precious small few of higher ups in the military (they are not all bad) saw the value of his maverick ways.

Ltc. Jim Channon commanded five rifle platoons in Vietnam. After losing the first man in battle, he never lost another one. At great risk to himself, he followed inner guidance.

  • How do you protect yourselves from roving bands like the Toe Cutter's gang from Mad Max?

  • A person can order a very nice do it yourself assembly cabin for a lot less $ and put a nice big secure and hidden basement under it.Set it up correctly for your needs for a lot less than 100 k.

  • ROFL GAY FAILING SHIT.

  • this is a bit idealistic, because, terrain varies enormously around the world. 2 acres in one place is vastly different, rainforest, desert, prairie, mountains, etc. True harmonious living can't be so structured and measured out, like stamping out "villages" that look basically alike. That's the kind of mentality that got us here in the first place. The people who survived the longest lived directly on and with the land, eating what was there or moving to where the food and water was.

  • so,,,, there is room in this world for us all.

  • This is INCREDIBLE ~!!! What a Fantastic idea~!!! Simply Brilliant ~!!!

  • I think he is trying to show a way to return to a more self sufficient way of living together. He indicates 30 years of exp in these efforts. Sharing that exp is genorous. Respect the wisdom of your elders.

  • i have a feeling this guy would like to play some SimCity Type of game. or maybe he just played too much when he was younger.

  • if we ever need to be self sufficient, they will come for you and your properties...

  • $100,000 for a third world shack? you are insane.

  • either that or just throw some sticks over dirt and call it a day

  • yeeeeee intake ikhton el 3alam ,,,,,,,,,

kess ekhta el maz7a sarit kteeer jad w sadda2ouwa killon!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • These ideas about selfsustaning are good but i wouldn`t like to live with other people. I am 23 years old and i have a wife and daughter. Next year I will buy my property and erect my house. It will be powered with wind generators and I will plant crops. I also make over $70000 a year. I did good with out a high school deploma. (that didn`t help my grammer and spelling thoe)

  • I empathize with your perspective- not living with other people. I have felt the same most of my life. After more than 30 years of trial & error in the wilderness of Minnesota, Alaska and Hawaii, I am convinced of the wisdom shared by indigenous people of Africa long ago, "It takes a community to raise a child." There are many reasons for this & perhaps you will be exempt from that long-standing wisdom. In either case I wish you the best of luck, resources and wisdom to live as you best see fit.

  • @fringlishman living apart is good too, but it's helpful to be social. As one ages, one realizes how much it means to have a healthy community. everyone benefits. One has children, then grandchildren, so even one's own family is like a small community. a balance of solitude and community is a goal.

  • what a dreamer

  • who would want to live like that?

  • Imposing poverty may also be named as confiscating ones right to live a peaceful life & deprive one of the basic needs of life to survive by any society. If we all take the world today as a GLOBAL VILLAGE then we must work out & implement an applicable formula for providing the basic rights to survive to all the human beings as the current situation of increasing poverty makes a man, brave enough to commit suicide in any form whether we name this suicide as terrorism.

  • "Earthships" are the way to go

  • I think you have some pretty good ideas and I'm not an expert but I think 5 acres would be better, with some of the land left or nurtured into it's natural state. At least your trying, keep on bro.
