I AM A HUGE FAN OF SISTAH SOULJAH. BUT THE BOOK WAS OFFENSIVE TO BLACK WOMEN. I UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE WAS TRYING TO DO BUT GO ABOUT IT IN A BETTER WAY. INSTEAD THE BOOK COULD OF BEEN ABOUT MIDNIGHT AND A BLACK WOMAN. SHE COULD OF SHOWN HOW A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP IS. INSTEAD OF BEING TYPICAL AND HAVING HIM WITH ANOTHER RACE OF WOMAN. SMH. I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP ON HER THOUGH. PEACE.
i remember when i paid 27 dollars for this book . and to me , it was worth it . it was nothing but the truth , captured my attention , gave me knowledge and everything . I hope there will be anotherto fill the gap between this and The Coldest Winter Ever .
I have enjoyed all of sister souljah's books, but Im having a really hard time reading this book. im only on page 130 and every page i read i keep hoping that the story line gets a little better. in your opinion, does it? It just seems to be going slow to me right now :-/. is this just not the book for me?
I have enjoyed following the career of Sistah Souljah for all these years. However, I am very disappointed with the end result. Her last two books although interesting and well written, have had multiple negative connotations regarding African-Americans. I would venture to say that the author is GLORIFYING other social/ ehtnic groups and religions while bashing Black Americans. I am very disappointed that nothing positive, helpful or encouraging is to be found in these pages. I lost a sistah...
@NolaGurl555 i agree she said alot of negative things but what she said was true and i think it needed to be said and it needed to offend some people in order for them to realize and change the way Americans in general behave because she also mentions other races in "Midnight" Jews, African Americans,Sudanese,Japanese and Chinese negative criticism is often the best and realist (my opinions)
Loved the book and can't wait for the next one and the movie but I HATE that he married Chiasa...she should have just been his comrade that's it! After Akemi lost the only family she knew to be with him and he falls in love with another girl??? Plus how could he say that he is all hers, doesn't make since. I would have stayed in Japan for that and raised his kids by myself. However, GREAT READ!
The climax to the first midnight is still burnt into my brain.,can't wait to see how he goes to japan too get back his wife...i'm speculating that things go way over his head when he obviously goes to war with his wife father? who is very powerful...i hope his wife aint on some foul shit?!

@ 1:30, her first book was "No Disrespect"; thus, "Midnight: The Meaning of Love" is her 4th book.
