  • I caught some herring at the Rockingham jetty last week they were tasty.

I didnt know they were in the river, though I have heard of bony herring that people net for mulloway bait, is that the same thing? And gardy64 where have the Cobbler gone to? We used to catch heaps as kids. Not really that great to eat but made our night fishing more exciting. Was amazing pulling up a big Cobbler right in close on bloodworms.

  • @stevengaunt Gday Steve the Herring are the same as the ones you get at the Rockingham jetty .The herring are mostly in the lower part of the river or Fremantle end .Don't know what its like at the moment with all the silt thats being stirred up from the harbor dredging. As for Cobbler they are a protected fish in the swan and canning rivers so no taking them till the ban is over which is a few years of yet. Over fishing and polution are the likely cause of there drop in numbers.

  • @Gardy64 the rockingham jetty is a great place for hering and whiting

  • Herring in the Swan. Unheard of.!
