  • hey you can add album art! by editing the album!which is great haha!

  • For anyone who doesn't know this, but I doubt anyone doesn't, just right click on the album then click find album info. Then you can sort through a series of albums and find the one that matches best with the songs in your library. I have done this with all the album art that is sketchy on what album artwork should actually be displayed.

  • Hey you only have 4 albums? :)

  • Four Green Day albums, yeah. ;-)

    - Jason

  • hey! just download the image of the album cover off google images and then set it. thats what i do and it works perfectly. :)

  • This video was recorded six months ago - I've since fixed the problem. ;-)

    - Jason

  • I would love to learn how to fix this problem properly.

  • I no longer have this problem. First, clean your metadata with MediaMonkey and make sure everything is perfect - use MediaMonkey to embed your album art, and clean up all the left-over album art that's hidden inside the folders. Make sure you're running the latest version of the Zune software. Then Google the Zune Media Collection Reset tool and let it re-scan your entire collection. That should do the trick!

    - Jason

  • I started doing this a little bit after I posted, actually. But thank you for replying back. Sadly, not even media monkey is completely saving me from my problems. That reset tool has come in pretty handy, though.

It's just sad that you have to jump through all these flipping hoops for zune's shit to work.

  • I hear you, it would be nice for it to work 100% right the first time, but there's so much junk on the P2P networks I can't blame the Zune team for not being able to anticipate every possible problem. My collection is 100% made up of CDs that I've ripped, or tracks I've purchased online - and I have no problems.

    - Jason

  • Thank you sir!

  • this problem can easily be fix by having the file "ZuneAlbumArt.jpg" (hidden) on the album folder, windows explorer reads a file called "folder.jpg" (hidden).

  • I'm afraid it's not that easy - the examples I show are with songs that are all in the same root folder, not their own folders (like albums are). Your solution doesn't quite work here. But all my problems have pretty much been solved with the 2.5 update. :-)

    - Jason

  • if i use media monkey to embed album art into tracks, that album art will be displayed in winamp? and if i use winamp to sync my libary onto my zune (zune alternator), will that album art be displayed on the zune itself?

i seriously don't want to use the zune software, i don't want to have an image file in my album folders either

i think microsoft should give you the option of which player you want to sync your zune with.. or just be able to drag and drop

    thanks

  • I'm not sure about Winamp, I haven't used it in years - but I'd surprised if it didn't display album art. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think that, yes, the new Zunes will display embedded album art.

    - Jason

  • i've been using a tag editor. all the song information is allot more secure now and the zune software doesn't feel like changing titles anymore/if it does i'm able to change them back unlike before

the embeded album art works fine too, also in winamp

i guess now that the zune software indexes my music properly and displays the proper album art i can bare it until there are improvements or the choice to use somthing els

    thanks

  • i love you

  • Umm...thanks? :-)

    - Jason

  • HEY Guys! The problem that I had with the album art wasn't really a problem at all. I un-installed the zune software, reinstalled, and clicked on customize options in the premier startup screen. I then clicked on "No, just the .... that's missing" (don't quite remember the line) after it asked my if i wanted Zune to replace my metadata, but since I already had all my album art pics in Media Player 11, it just transferred those right into the Zune software. Hope this helps you guys!

  • Hi. I have the same album art and metadata problem with my Zune 30. Did your album art that was missing in your software actually show up on your zune after you finished sync? Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

  • Hello, I have a problem with my 8gb Zune. For some reason when I sync my music to my Zune it is progressively slow, And when it does 100% sync the music, It tells me that the last command was an error or something like that. If you can help me I will really appreciate it.

  • I'm sorry, but I can't help - I suggest you call Zune tech support.

    - Jason

  • Oh alright, Thanks.

  • i have a similar problem...except instead of just showing the zune logo, it puts a different albums art in its place...so right now a large amount of my collect has zz top artwork on the album...help?

  • how do you get album art if you do not have it on your computer? because i know itunes has a feature where if you dont have the album art for a specific album it allows you to scan and it will get it off itunes

  • The Zune software will try to download album art on its own, but there's no way to "find" the album manually like you can with Windows Media Player 11. If you have the JPEG you want for the album cover, you can right click on the album and point it to the JPEG.

    - Jason

  • The fix is to delete the JPG file that the Zune Software will put in the folder the song is in. Just do a search for "ZuneAlbumArt.jpg" and you will find dozens if not hundreds or thousands of copies of this file all over you computer. Zune takes embedded album art and copies it to these files. Delete these files to clean the slate.

  • Zune Software is retarded.I CAN"T GET IT TO DO ANYTHING RIGHT>>>>>>>F**K IT! IM SO PISSED WITH THE CRAPINESS OF IT!

  • yo man i forgot how to transfer my pics on my zune to my computer... would you plz tell me how!!! i would really appreciate it..

  • Switch to the pictures area on the Zune software, then drag and drop the photos onto the Zune.

    - Jason

  • yea i solved that problem yesterday after i replied i was messin around and found it

  • im having this problem too. They need to patch this problem

  • Hey Jason can you edit the video meta-data with this media monkey program you talk about? if not do you know how to so I can have my music videos in the right "folder" on the zune. Currently when I sync they go into 'All Video'. Cheers

  • No, MediaMonkey can't edit video metadata. I'm actually not too sure how to edit the metadata associated with video files on the Zune - something else they need to add to the program.

    - Jason

  • mate could you possibly repeat yourself anymore ?

  • The perils of doing videos without a script, mate. ;-)

    - Jason

  • Is there anyway to edit songs in your Zune software? I just bought a zune 3 days ago, and I have like 300 songs in Windows Media Player 11 that have the Album Art, artist, etc. Is there a way to bring that right into the Zune software, or at least a way (a program/ app) that will help me label my songs and album art correctly in the Zune software? Thanks mate.

  • No, the Zune software pretty much sucks for doing that. Look up a program called Media Monkey, it's an amazing program for correcting metadata problems.

  • i had the same exact problem. but i just left it alone and eventually it fixed itself

  • dude i have the same problem but i kno how to fix it

  • Yeah, it seems to be a problem with the ID3 tags, some sort of versioning issue...I managed to fix one of my problematic albums using Media Monkey's "clean tags" function then updating them. I need to explore it more...

    - Jason

  • Yeah, some problem happened to me. I updated my album art, and the Zune never changed it. It was the same old album art before I changed. I hope MS fixes this with a firmware update soon.

  • Yea its kinda messed up cause i have about 200 vids and sometimes they rename my vids to other stuff.....which pisses me off.

  • FUCKING ZUNE software. messed up a bunch of my songs.

  • I have one file that has incorrect album art which zune won't allow me to change. Argh!

Also, most of my music will no longer play on the xbox 360's media tab since I installed zune on my pc (vista ultimate 64). It still plays ok in media center on the xbox 360. Huh???

  • I also have experienced the problem whereby the wrong albut art is assigned AND the "update album art" function does not work.

In fact, the meta tag update functions are so limited and disfunctional, it makes the whole Zune experience very poor.

It just blows my mind how a company such as Microsoft could make such a WEAK product (the Zune PC software).

I would have been better if they just allowed Windows Media Player to synch the Zune device.

  • That's the problem I'm having too... I can't even FORCE cover art onto a song with the "update album art" function.

It's only on two songs, but it's REALLY annoying me because the Zune software has assigned t.A.T.u. cover art onto my Shiny Toy Guns music... grrrr... I think I'll try burning the CD again...

  • i have the same problem but its really bothering be because its not one or two songs, its like 40 songs that don't have the right album art =__=

  • and its the same with videos i have just convtered a avi to a ipod file then dragged it into zune and it reconized it straight away i think its a bit strange like

  • what i have found out just as i have watched this video is that if u go in itunes and do it so there all right ones the u drag the file from the folder its in ( not itunes it self ) it goes to the same pic as itunes i know tht this is not a good way or there might be a quicker ways but i just thought to let u know

  • yea i had that problem and i didn't like it sometimes i couldn't change the art album,,,so now i have the ipod touch and using Itunes is WAY EASIER! to do ur music art and stuff!...

  • I have totally agree with lpfan091989 I have the exact same issue and it sucks because my Zune has only once given me a problem where I had to reset it. Now I have many issues and its because of the software. As Far as editing track info you can still right click on the field you want to change for example artist or song title. I hope Microsoft irons out this issues quick!! I'm driving from FL to NY in December.

  • i have the same problem but in mine, certain tracks are in the wrong album, i also can;t figure out how to edit track info. it think it was a lot better on old zune software. this just has too many problems. maybe i'm wrong but i've had the zune for a while and never had a problem with fixing album info like this one. honestly the software now is crap.

  • I don't have an album art, but i do have a major problem. I have the band Muse and the band Linkin Park in the My Music folder. When i drag the two Muse albums over, only one song goes under Muse and the rest goes under Linkin Park. Note; this didnt happen with Zune v1.

  • same with me.i have metallica songs on my rage against the machine.

  • Check out the Zune forums for a fix for that MIGHT work...although it didn't work for me. :-(
