  • i have a question, what do we do about alternative resources? should the gov be invovled in getting solar energy ready? and make sure our machines and military works even when the oil runs out. because it will run out, and we could be in great danger. shouldnt there be step taken to get alter. energy ready for a smoother transition. or do u think free market promises that transition.

  • Lets do what is best for all.

  • theres lots of jobs out there look around

  • How can Peter possibly say anything about american jobs, when he has encouraged investment in Asia for years. Now that is hypocritacal.

  • @louiethegreater So he's a hypocrite for telling you where to put your money so you don't lose it all?

  • @762foru You won't make as much money by investing in your own country, but you won't loose it either. Those 300% corporate profits are being made off the backs of third world peasants. Peter says the U.S. has to start making things again, but he always encourages Asian investments. How can the country ever recoop manufacturng if no one invests in our economy.

Tariffs on third world products will give domestic industries a chance to compete with cheap foreign labor.

  • Comment removed

  • @louiethegreater no, investing in asian countries actually helps our country. Think, dimwit, for five seconds. Not everything that exists is five free out in front of yo. Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper. Most 'Ford' cars (an 'American' company, right?) are made in Mexico. Most Toyota and Honda cars that are sold in America are made in America. Toyota hires more Americans than Ford. Ford sold you out. Not Peter Schiff. This is what the elite want man, think! We're at each others throats

  • @Digali Cant believe that a moronish charecter like you would call me a dimwit. You are to stupid to realize that our markets were thrown open to Japanese auto makers in the 60s. While they protected their industy with 50% tariffs we had our market open to them. Ford started ourtsourcng in that period in order to compete with Honda, and Toyota. You are to ignorant to know that Japanes auto makers would not have built here without threats of tariffs from Reagan. How can a moronish character like

  • Comment removed

  • @louiethegreater Hey ignorant, Ford and GM were straddled with a $1500.00 up front cost for every unit they sold, because of the retired automotive workers. Japanese companies did not have that cost. All the US had to do was add a $1500.00 tariff on Japanese Cars, and GM would still be number one instead of Toyota. We would still have a strong auto industry employing american workers. Detroit would be a productive city instead of a war zone. Same with the steel, electronics, textile industrie

  • Even at home. Suit and Tie. I wanna see you do a report in chicago bears jersey haha

  • Why does he keep ignoring the initiatives in the stimulus package that are meant to spur the production of new green technologies and products to be exported? Obama wants us to lead the world in solar, wind, and biothermal before other countries get the jump on us. Some already have. And I love jab about global warming. Doesn't he know that global warming is causing the ice caps to melt hence the oceans are rising and cooling? It has little to do with weather. It's about overall climate change.

  • @brothermikefan Man made global warming and "green jobs" are the biggest lie the elites have created since claiming the superiority of Keynesian economics, which has been dis proven time and time again as will man made global warming. its hard to find the truth when dissent is suppressed and mocked just like Schiff/Austrians and certain scientists have been but its there. its all about our fake fiat currency and power. you follow those and you get the truth every time.

  • @brothermikefan The government _stands in the way_ of green energy. It subsidizes ethanol, an inefficient fuel, which competes with biodiesel, almost 4 X more efficient. And the new growing crop of biodiesel produces oxygen while taking up CO2.

  • @hallmobility It's unfortunate that WE THE PEOPLE decided to subsidize ethanol and biodiesel sounds great but we're discussing jobs in an emergengy right now. One of the goals of Keynesian economics is to spur exports. We're giving money to small businesses to develop their products and then helping them expand their trade overseas. Literally. We're acting as a liason between them and potential customers in other countries. It may not be cold fusion but hey, we gotta shit or get off the pot here

  • @brothermikefan Exactly right, we're discussing jobs, and you bring in the Obama "green initiatives" that are supposed to fix it. But if you GET OUT OF THE WAY, small business will create efficient fuel, create jobs and benefit the environment. And the way you say "We", kemosabe. "We're giving money to small businesses...." What small businesses? It must be a priveleged few, as who got the "Stimulus" $. Every small bus. I know is uncertain about how much taxes will up with Obamacare.

  • @hallmobility "But if you GET OUT OF THE WAY, small business will create efficient fuel, create jobs..."

Again, I'm discussing creating jobs in an EMERGENCY situatuon. We had to think of some kind of jobs in a hurry. So instead of using the money for something stupid like professional pizza eating contest judges, we decided to invest in a few companies that showed some promise in LED lighting, wind turbines, and other exportable technologies. Hopefully we can tax them soon.

  • @brothermikefan As for "One of the goals of Keynesian economics is to spur exports", Keynesianism is a proven fraud, it defies common sense and monkeys with markets, which every economist since Adam Smith says is destructive. For fun see ?v=d0nERTFo-Sk For serious stuff watch more Peter Schiff.

  • @hallmobility Well like it or not, Keynesianism is what our govt practices so we might as well put our stimulus money to good use i.e. helping green industries expand their trade outside our borders. Thats how the expansion is supposed to occur. It's common for countries to go more than 100% of their GDP in debt on occasion until growth resumes. I really don't think we'll see an Austrian style economy here any time soon. Both parties are big spenders. It's just a matter of who gets the money.

  • Bringing the masses wages down to 3rd world counties is the opposite to the answer.. Such a solution would only promote more corporatism and literally enslave their workers.. NAFTA and Corporatism has been at work a long time and theres no quick solution. But the forcing UP of outsourced wages while exercising a healthy amount of protectionism until that goal is met.. is the only way really.

  • w could save alot if we hire people who are on unemployment to do the census, because were paying them anyway to do nothing, i bet peter schiff has never been unemployed himself, any job is better than no job isn't it?

  • Oh yeah, I forgot the regulation was why we were shedding jobs. Must have slipped my mind.

  • Capitalists like this guy, who wants to get rid of minimum wage to lower wages of all.. The same type of capitalists ideals that due to globalization, took all manufacturing jobs and gave them to 3rd world countries at 7-26 cents an hr. THAT'S WHY WE DON'T PRODUCE ANYMORE!! What's the appeal for American manufacturing to pay $8+ an hr when they're currently getting MILLIONS of slaves at 26 cents an hour!!! OUR old jobs!

  • So let them lower the wage to whatever people will work for. But don't let them go abroad for them.

  • Your fatuous post serves to beautifully illustrate that the world is indeed populated with ignoramuses whose grasp of basic economics is tenuous at best and juvenile at worst.

  • because I said capitalist rather than corporatist?... My argument is still a sound one.. your post says alot though.. The real sheeples like yourself would rather focus on irrelevent drama then solutions to the problems at hand. Keep your arrogant, dumb-assed mouth shut next time.

  • @cervantessssssssssss

    Grammar.

    Use it.

  • Groan.. where is my structural grammar wrong?.. misspellings?.. poor punctuations? Your the 2nd guy with some irrelevent stab at my point.. and OH LOOK! -2 on my post. Where in my reasoning do you find offensive or insultive?.. Oh.. a point that discredits and pokes holes through Schiff's message.

  • The trade deficit is caused by the difference between investment and savings, represented by this equation: S-I=X-M, savings-investment=exports-imports. It has nothing to do with the employment makeup of the economy, except in how it affects the savings/investment ratio. When we invest more than we save, we run a trade deficit by selling assets to foreigners, and in return we must by goods and services. The trade deficit is the difference between national output and national consumption.

  • Manufacturing lags behind other sectors for the simple reason that our manufacturing is so productive, and continues to make productivity gains ahead of other industries like services. From 1970-1995, the US doubled output of manufactures, yet employment in manufacturing declined precipitously.

  • It's because of damn Obama. He's trying to make all the poor basterds who won't work in the middle class, and take the middle class and make them poor. It's ridiclious! I fucking hate him so much. I HOPE HE WON'T GET REELECTED. If you want to learn some commensence watch glen beck. Man Obama makes so many promises. He's a fucking moron. He should not be in office. You gotta be stupid to still think he's a good president

  • I've come to the conclusion our gov't is good and two things.

    1. Lying

    2. Counterfeiting

They lie about everything from where stimulus money went and what banks got it and on what terms they'll have to repay it to top secret Nasa projects and deep underground military bases. They counterfeit money by printing too much of it, they make gold plated tungsten to replace the real gold in fort knox, and they counterfeit bonds and use them to collateralize fradulent activities. Liars, cheats, thieves

  • Truth is always simple to understand. I am thankful that there are people like you

  • Our government needs to held accountable for their responsibilty in the destruction of our country. Let's fire everyone of these assholes and take away their retirement benefits. Then we can tax away their property and possessions. And last feed them to sharks. That might make the sharks a little sick but what the hell!

Enemy of the people = The Government!

  • I'm reportining you Girard thats recromending unnescessary abuse to sharks what did the sharks ever do to you!! haha

  • You are right! I don't want to poison the sharks with these little nasties. How about sending them to the Middle east with tattoo's on their foreheads saying they are American's! Yea, I like it!

  • I agree with Schiff economic views but come on global warming does exist look at the data. And global cooling is a part of that.

  • @ChaoticSouls He probably agrees that it exists as well. Just not in the way that it is portrayed by its most zealous advocates that have managed to become mainstream of late. Global warming is an excuse for massive government regulation of the economy. If you actually agree with his economic views, you should be able to understand this as a major problem in terms of economic output.

  • The job situation is not going to get better...Everything that is being done is exactly the opposite of what should be done to turn things around.

And If I can see it I know the powers that be can...Ross Perot predicted this when he ran for president...our jobs would be sucked right down south..and out of here. And he was right.

  • This was also planned in advance as told in 1996 by Dr. John Coleman.

The American middle class was torched by "DEMOCRAT" Clinton in his 1998 "American Competitiveness Act."

ALL "DEMOCRATS" voted to export our economy and throw us into a deep recession. (They're not even Chinese?!?)

  • @UnoRaza

all democrats, my friend at the time Repubs ran the show so how could the act pass without their approval.

  • it was bipartisan, McCain and Fienstein silicon valley's Frankstein monster.

Clinton was hired to start the implosion pls see above video by coleman.

It's amazing and, as this torching of local jobs thing was done in Roman days, no one can deny it's constructed; it's damn obvious to me in the longer term like ~10 years.

  • Does anyone realize that our government has been throughing manufacturing overboard for years? Our government actually gives companies a tax break for giving away American jobs and technology. This has been going on for years and no one mentions it. How ridiculous. Then our government says it has to create jobs? They just gave them all away.

  • Everyone should claim max exemptions this year and not take on any new debt. Stop paying the unsecured debt like credit cards and if you have the balls and are underwater on your mortgage let that go too. You can always rent and probably for less. Cut the throat of the beast and speed this collapse so a new plan can be implemented. Bankrupt the FED and it's class A owners. Stop being debt slave puppets and demand a real solution. End all unnecessary wars as well and bring home the troops!

  • @MrThefutureisnow

You are 1000% correct. The Goverment expects everyone to play along. Well what if we don't? :-)

  • @MrThefutureisnow

A new plan will not be implemented. If the current system collapses Americans will have their hands out for more government and help from the same banks.

We have no vision in America other than the same old crap.

  • This may sound unrealistic and improbable but what if there were a group of "white knights" working to expose the thievery and fradulent practices that investment banks and politicians have been engaging in together.A new system would allow banks 0 leverage and fractional reserve banking would be a thing of the past. Those in charge will have to play by the rules or get thrown in the gulag if they're not there already on charges of treason. A resource based economy is the answer not monetary.

  • @MrThefutureisnow I like your thinking, except that for it to work...people will have to learn how to thionk for themselves. THAT could be a problem.

  • @chefshitpiece True. People don't have enough time and there are too many distractions which keep the attention off what's really going on. That combined with the fact the media lies to us about the truth so that even if you think you know what's going on you really don't. It's the ol' if you don't read the newspaper (or watch TV) you're uninformed and if you do then you're misinformed. Mark Twain.

  • @MrThefutureisnow That is why I enjoy abstract philosophy so much. It does not require facts, only conceptual reasoning.

  • @chefshitpiece Actually, Logic and the Scientific Method are Philosophical concepts, so I'll let that go.

  • @Rensune Ooooohhhh...Im scared!!! Promise you'll let it go...please MR. Big-man!? Who the fuck are you? Logic and the Scientific Method are Philosophical concepts! WOW!!! That was brilliant! Evberybody stand up and cheer for Rensune, saviour of epistomolgy!! Tool.

  • @chefshitpiece You meant Epistemology, right? Try spell check.

  • @chefshitpiece Thanks SpellCheck! Now why are you butting in on my post, asshhole. Oh look, wanna correct that mistake too? Im sure its a word you hear a lot.

  • @MrThefutureisnow A resource based economy is communism. The only responsible way to apportion resources (unless you have Star Tr5ek Replicator technology handy) will always be Capitalism.

  • @MrThefutureisnow A resource based economy is communism. The only responsible way to apportion resources (unless you have Star Trek Replicator technology handy) will always be Capitalism.

  • I wonder if Peter has an opinion about the Illuminati FUC:( Wads that are behind all this Bull shit? The government post skewed numbers that aren't legit and then these experts talk and talk about numbers that aren't even factual. Our economy is shit, our national debt is too big to overcome and our politicians and bankers are the MF's that caused this problem in the first place so how are they going to fix it with more of the same? This chaos is by design and from it will come a New Order.

  • has this video ever played? I've been checking and checking and it never plays just loads.

  • @KP23anda

Agree, I have been trying to watch this video all week long, it loads but does not play. I even tried it in a different browser. Can't believe it.

  • We could of had Peter Schiff as Ron Pauls economic advisor if only Ron had won in 08! instead we got Obama and his tean of advisors that lead us into this mess.

    Raines, Frank, waters ect!

  • It seems pretty basic. We consume more than we produce. We can not just be the worlds "intellectual" leaders. We need to produce goods and sell them to the rest of the world. That is how you create jobs. Government doesn't create jobs. When they hire more people all it does is increase the task burden on private citizens.

Schiff is right on, as usual.

  • Wow. Lots of comments. Seems as if the Boot On Your Neck Party types (Republican as well as National Socialist) are whistling in the dark when they downplay Mr. Schiff as a potential candidate for the U.S. Senate seat that Chris Dodd has been been "persuaded" to abandon.

They really can't afford to have someone in that prominent a post who's on record as advocating sound economics and who has publicly cut through the bafflegab they peddle.

  • Video won't play.... tried yesterday and one more time tonight...

  • Manufacturing jobs require people to consume more of the planets resources. More manufactured product requires people to go into more debt. More debt means we must borrow from other countries. Borrowing from other countries means our children will have to pay it back.

  • manufacturing=work=production so how can it create debt? if anything it gets us out of debt, and spending (opposite of production) is what tend to create debt... you make no sense

  • @AgentOrange04

Its worked well so far hasn't it?

All we have done is create debt. Our entire fiat system is based on debt.

When the planet runs out of resources what are we going to manufacture then?

In 50 years technology will have replaced 50 percent of the jobs what do you suppose we do then?

Heck we have been working towards making our lifes easier on this planet. Eventually we will work ourselfs out of work.

I probably don't make sense to you.

    It's called vision.

  • lol. if having a large crisis every few years is your definition of "worked" then yes it has. But for every other person on the planet we don't enjoy having large crisis's.

  • You are missing the entire point. The goal of an economy is not to create jobs, it is to increase our standard of living and allow us to have better lives. Jobs are a side effect. As technology advances, it doesn't mean there will be less jobs, it means there will be better jobs. Because we have more resources to use on better jobs, since the lower level jobs aren't necessary anymore.

  • first of all im not defending the fiat system and the fiat system actually promotes spending over creation ie manufacturing, which is why all this debt is created, NOT because of manufacturing... and saying that resource is somehow "running out" is ridiculous;although by no means free, there are definately more than enough for mankind (weve barely even scratched the surface of the earth) to survive and prosper on

  • ps. not to mention the rapidly developing technology that allows better and new ways to efficiently gather and use resources, and even to reuse them

  • @AgentOrange04

I will leave you with this last quote to think about.

We are all insignificant consumers who live to consume and to create things that can be consumed, without identity, or reason to relate to one another.

    Peace

  • im sorry, what? now i know youre a pretty sick person... just wow

  • AgentOrange04

I must ask you what is it America should manufacture that isn't already being manufactured in other countries? At a very low wage I must add.

I havent met anyone lately that can't purchase what they need. We are not running around saying I would purchase new clothing if it was available to purchase.

This planet already manufactures enough products to supply everyone with their needs.

Your visions for America is the same old outdated one most other people have.

  • @AgentOrange04

"...what is it America should manufacture that isn't already being manufactured in other countries?"

What to make? HIGHER QUALITY PRODUCTS!!!

The garbage from China needs to be pushed out of the market by quality products (that outlast a 30 day warranty). It will require a severe depression where even basic products from China are too expensive for the (vanished) middle class. Then we will be forced to manufacture and consume (and export) domestic products.

  • if you really believe manufacturing is simply a means of production of goods to meet our basic needs then you are seriously misguided... manufacturing not only supply people with their NEEDs but with what people WANT, by developing new technology and innovations to make our lives better... if your vision of the ideal world is nothing more than to supply people with their basic needs then by your logic any advancement from a primitive agrarian society would be totally unnecceary

  • @AgentOrange04

Manufacturing a product will lead to improvement of that product. But if a new product was developed that would help society but would not be profitable we would never see it.

You keep singing the same tune got anything better?

  • if it would help society how would it not be profitable... you do not seem to understand the very basic concept of profit

  • @AgentOrange04

What if someone figured out how to make energy to power your home just by rubbing your hands together.

Lets say that person owned the current power system.

Do you think he would tell anyone?

  • well if youre gonna give a hypothetical example then give one that at least make some sense; if it were that easy why would we even have a power system... at least you dont pull out a strawman like some others i have talked with such as the case involving E H Armstrong or N Tesla

  • Cant we see this system is broke?

We cannot continue to manage our planet this way. A new way must be found that will protect our planet for the future, we have nowhere else to go. If we dont someday this material world will wake up and find all the material has vanished.

    Think past the present.

  • Who cares about your voice.....The American firms are producing jobs.....in China, Vietnam, Mexico,Canada and Hong Kong. Until Americans are willing to work for 50 cents an hour they will continue to create jobs outside the US. You Rightwingers said nothing during the Bush years when jobs were going overseas everyday. Learn facts

  • To fix my bicycle the workshop takes 50$ per hour. The workshop gets at most 10$ from that. I suspect, that the rest goes to support the welfare state! China does not have the welfare state. Perhaps that is another reason why the services are cheaper there.

  • I think YOU should be the first person hired for 50 cents an

    hour....jerk

  • Sure, I might agree to work for that. But I am a law abiding citizen. I myself and whoever agrees to hire me to work for 50 cents goes to jail because of the minimum wage law.

  • Yes, because employment will rise, but so will poverty. It's an unintelligent economic policy to get rid of minimum wage.

  • your an idiot. all minimum wage does is cause inflation.

  • China doesn't have environmental laws or labor laws either.

9 year old kids make half of the cheap consumer goods american "consumers" buy.

Our problem isnt limited to welfare or entitlements we also have corporate welfare, high taxes, government regulation , cronyism etc.

  • The problem is not limited to that, I agree. A lot of the tax money go to finance wars.

  • It should continue to be legal for corporate tycoons to keep shipping jobs overseas, no matter what the overall economic cost for the other 90% of United States citizens.

It is immoral to regulate any corporate ideas that make CEO's, Executives, and share-holders richer. Nobody can rightfully question whether there's socio-economic disparity when the top tax bracket to the lowest tax bracket is 532:1.

It is common sense that the top 1% should make 532 times the average lazy and poor worker.

  • LOL:) I like how my comments speak the truth but everyone gives them a thumbs down, wake up people.

  • Why should the government create you a job????

A good conservative would never ask the government to create them a job.

Use the skills you have acquired over the years and create your own job.

The people that have trade skills will be the ones working in the future.

Technology is slowly eliminating jobs and some day we will have 50 percent less than we do now.

Just sit back and think about how many other jobs you could eliminate today using the technology to its potential.

  • marsha marsha marsha

  • This guy is a conservative bozzo sounding the same junk you can hear on fox news.

If we are at 17% unemployed as he says then Bush & Cheney put us into a Depression. Obama is just trying to rescue us from the full impact of a depression.

Our jobs went to India, Mexico, South America, & China when all the lazy CEO's who instead of being progressive decided they could give themselves bigger bonuses by reducing costs by moving all the work off shore.

  • well, how convenient. The same old "Bush did it, Nixon did it" chants we will hear for a long time. Remember, Al Gore did a great job debating Ross Perot on CNN , defending NAFTA. Also B.O. is just expanding Bush economic policy (bailouts, expansion of war (Pakistan), increase in govt sector/entitlements/regs, and so on.)

  • Yeah, Goering and Hitler got blamed too. Poor Mr. Bush

  • This "bozzo" was one of only a handful of people to warn and predict the great recession. If you weren't so blinded by party lines and did some research you'd learn that Peter is as much anti Bush as he is Obama because they are making the SAME MISTAKES.

  • @notmarcofilms Well said You have the Bozzo. If bozzos like him weren't encouraging offoshore inveatment the government would not be attempting to create jobs. A Dodd twin.

  • @notmarcofilms Bush and Obama are not making mistakes, they are simply following the plan that the authors of globalization elected them to do. To say that Bush and Obama makes mistakes, is to say that everyone since Eisenhower had made mistakes, that has produced the NWO order of today.

  • Oh, you are right. When the jobs were being exported Bush and his pals said "don't worry...we are moving to a service economy!"...that asshole sold the nation out. There will be a special place in Hell for him, right next to Herr Limbaugh

  • The constitution says we have to conduct a census every ten years...it also says the government can only use gold and silver coins for money...a clear example of what's wrong in America. It took 170 years until Kennedy's debase, 15 years till Nixon completely violated the constitution, and 10 years for the consequences to start negatively effecting the economy with corrupt S & L's. Although an argument can be made that the parasite class began chewing on the fiat supply in the late 70's.

  • hi, peter!

  • Comment removed

  • if GOVT has no capital to pump into the economy, and this so called stimulus is not helping create job what will create jobs in markets where demand for supply is drastically low? is it safe to say that the jobs outsourced during Bush admin. is the real culprit in this recession?

  • this country is going down fast thank you u.s government

  • we could export ourselves as slaves!......?...no?

  • Great idea....at the same time lets give a tax cut to the wealthy.

  • Yeah, to fix the economy, we need to give the rich tax cuts and raise taxes on the middle class. We also need to privatize every market that exists. You should have to pay for your military, police, and even education!!

Recent history has proven that unregulated free enterprise works best! There should continue to be no transparent derivatives, legal credit default swaps, and continue to allow the investor and commercial banks to merge.

Those policies contributed nothing to 2000's bubble!

  • jobs that don't generate real capital are worthless

  • What job........?

  • wow you got featured

  • America, the land of childern. Welcome.

  • ***WAKE-UP***

Take a look at the US government organizations. Homeland Security, FBI, CIA, FDA, USDA, ATF, EPA, USIA, IRS, INS, FTC, FCC, DOT, DEP, etc, etc.

"We The People" are in charge of these Federal organizations. And I'm getting pretty angry with the mis-appropriation of funds! i.e. HARD EARNED MONEY PAID TO THESE ARROGANT, FRAUDULENT & CORRUPT organizations USED TO TERRORIZE "WE THE PEOPLE"!!!!!!!!!

Paid for but not approved by "We The People"

    End The Fed!!!

  • I'm pretty angry that americans are doing nothing about our government. Don't blame the politicians. It is their nature to be crooks. But, americans just sit back and take it and refuse to act.

  • Sadly, you are exactly right...the only people who are involved with government are ideologues who "protest" or are active at local, state, and federal levels while trying to get a foothold in the "system" so they can become upwardly mobile and eventually perpetuate the problem of maintaining the status quo

  • Thanks, Peter! You're GREAT!

    Get Well Soon!

  • Taking of Pelham 123

    That describes Schiff's policy.

If he wants to be senator than the least he could do is stop profiting from any business/investment income while in the senate.

  • better yet, at your mom and pop, try and trade services without currency exchange.....

  • yes, the US imposed a large tariff on Chinese made tires recently. What benefit does that have to the consumer (us)? Didn't we read about the government imposed tariffs from England in the 1700's? That didn't work out to well for the government.

  • 8000 american tire workers lost their jobs over the last six months- for what ???

So Pep Boys can make 60 bucks on a sale instead of 58!!!!

  • Look at all the cow hides why can't we begin making leather items again. Take shoes, we use to have Naturalizer shoe company but now they too are made elsewhere. Lets have this factories again here in the US for example and see shoes with labels Made in USA. Americans need to build again, we have the minerals and trees, etc. Laws need to change.

  • Feel better Peter.

  • @SuperWorldwide23

Banking speculation usually doesn't hurt the workers, as they don't have to deposit. The other two are government actions.

Capitalism raises the standard of living for all. Mass production of cars, for instance, doesn't benefit the rich (except for owners/investors), at least not as much as the middle class and workers. They now have cars. With the price system in a free market, it doesn't matter what they are paid because the cars have to be sold at a price they can afford.

  • Caught a story on Bloomberg a couple of days ago. The Fed has been telling the banks to run "stress tests", to see how they would fare "if" the funds rate were to be "rapidly and significantly" raised. The tests were to be run if rates were rapidly raised 0.3-0.5 percent and in another scenario - 4-5.0 percent (400-500 basis points). Hang on.

  • "the hard numbers broken down.

    Shocking watch?v=W_rHpq4q7b4"

  • China is not a free market, but we can be. The Chinese government won't set upper limits to wages, and why would they? The Chinese workers are willing to work for low wages because the cost of living is very low and $3 per day is a lot there.

China is more capitalist than you might think. Private companies are allowed to do business over there.

Also, read that article, it explains this too.

  • Private COs must become 50/50 partners with the Chinese Gov.

  • china is much closer to capitalism than america is. america hasnt had anything that can be called capitalism since before the early 1900's.

  • How about all the day traders wanting a quick profit invest in small local business. The stock market is the problem and stock salesman.

  • @SuperWorldwide23

Google "Milton Friedman tariffs" without quotes and follow the first link. Friedman explains how a free market where exchange rates are set by the market adjusts supply and demand in countries.

  • What's the difference? His wage isn't paid by the taxpayer.

  • @SuperWorldwide23 The "average worker" doesn't make minimum wage. You're still ranting and making sweeping generalizations.

  • @flightlevel66

    I agree.

The advocates of the minimum wage are the labor unions, even though no union worker makes anywhere near minimum wage. They do it to drive away competition in the labor market.

  • min wage is one of the many major distortions that the gov does. it hurts the economy, employment, and it hurts the advancement of our economy. if gov knew better than individuals when it came to running any or all of an economy than socialism and communism would have worked instead of failing EVERY time.

  • Do you smoke crack.

Turn off the fucking radio. Give Beck and Rush a break. My family owns a small Co.

TRUST ME- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. START PAYING LESS THAN THE SHIT MIN. WAGE AND SEE WHAT YOU GET. WHO IS GOING TO SHOW UP FOR LESS THAN MIN. YOU GOING TO PAY 2 BUCKS WHEN THE BUS RIDE TO WORK IS 3 BUCKS. GET REAL OR GET OFF

  • End unemployment benefits and welfare and you'll see how many people will work for less. Of course, that would just make our dollars worth more.

  • your missing the point douche. im not saying that there should be a law that says you have to work for 2 bucks and hour lol, im saying there shouldnt be any law at all about wage. you yourself just admitted that the min wage law doesnt determine wage because its all about supply and demand for labor. if you think that min wage is good then whynot make min wage 500 an hour? why not 1,000? min wage hurts low paid workers the most and caused unemployment

  • even if you have a good supply of labor, do you want to deal with workers showing up for work that dont make enough to ride the bus.

no law = wages will drop

    the bus ride will not

  • then why isnt everyone getting paid min wage now then? if the law is what determines wage why isnt eveyone getting paid min? min wage is a law that stops young people from entering the work force, because it stops people with no skills from working which is how they develop skills and experience. if you are a 14 year old kid and you want to begin to learn a trade the law makes it illegal for you to start as a helper or something for a plumbing company for $4hr, why make that illegal?

  • Because all the plumbers would hire kids at 2 dollars an hour. And that would be the end of it. No plumber would ever pay a dime extra if he could find kid to work for 2 bucks. Now the kid will pay tax on his 2 bucks (big deal) , the plumber will continue to hide as much income as he can (they do that, offer one cash and get a discount). You and I will pay what is lost in taxes. Stoping the min wage law is a BS point that Beck and Rush use to stir the mindless masses up.

  • lol your being very incoherant. are you suggesting that all plumbers today get paid min wage? why wont you answer my question? and that is..if min wage is the only thing stopping everyone like plumbers and so on from getting paid $2 per hour then how come peole get paid more than min wage? your incoherant and ignorant argument would only make sense on a half ass level if every worker in the U.S. was getting paid the min wage. would you work for $2 per hour? no, so how can someone pay you that?

  • If the min wage law is stoped, wages will decrease. NO, I am not suggesting all plumbers make min wage. I was responding to your comment about teenagers.

  • ok then why is it that all plumbers dont hire teenagers who get paid min wage then? and you forget that the min wage doesnt make people get paid more it simply stops people from working who would get paid less. the teenager thing is a problem because its not like a teenager who has no skills and can only justify $4 per hour is going to get paid a higher min wage, he simply will be unemployable. employers wont hire for a loss just because there is a law, they simply wont hire that person.

  • again that would only make sense if everyone was currently getting paid min wage

  • do you really think that if the gov changes the min wage to $.01 per day that everyone now getting paid min wage would just get their pay dropped to $.01 per day and they would still show up for work? lol, wage rate is supply and demand plain and simple. laws have no positive effect. please think before you mindlessly repeat the ideals of what a political party tells you.

  • lol if you think that a plumbing company would do well to have a staff of kids getting paid $2 per hour than your more insane then I thought. your ignorance and blind beliefs based on what a political party tells you and/or simply the opposite of whatever a political party you dont like says is retarded. its people like you that are facilitating the decline of america. your ignorance allows the gov to go unchecked in its destruction

  • Your a repeater station for the Rush and Beck show. Go ahead, do your best to destroy the min wage law. America is well on its way to becoming a two class country. Two class countrys dont last. Sooner or later the greedy rich get put out.

  • lol there you go, is your argument really to say the word rush and beck? how is naming those two ass wipes a coherant argument? its equivalent to me telling you that 2 plus 2 is 4 and you telling me its 5 and then when I tell you to explain you call me a poopie head lol. america is becoming a two class country because of gov and its regulations not because of anything else. min wage is one of many many laws that are not only unconstitutional but also economically stupid and damaging

  • What is it you people see in stoping the Min wage????

What has wal- mart done for you???

Why do you want to see the wal - mart types make more money?????

Does wal-mart knock on your door and hand you a check????

Do away with min wage and you hand wal-mart a wind fall.

Then Pete and his CEO friends and his Wall Street friends all cash in.

How is it you people buy this stupid bullshit.

  • first of all if wal mart paid its employees $200 per hour it wouldnt be walmart that hurts it would be the consumer, its the same if they become more efficient and bring their costs down, it would benifit the consumer. your too obsessed with rush and bush and obama and all these retarded ass wipes that you blind yourself from independent thought. go learn about economics, stop believing in things that political parties tell you to think and maby youll have a chance of being a coherant adult human

  • 1- I am no fan of Obama

2- I never said wal- mart should pay 200/hr

Wal- buys very cheap and sells high. you only think your getting a low price

  • well if you think that min wage has only positive effects on workers and no negative effects on the economy and consumers than why is $6 better than $2 but $200 is not better than $6? you seem to understand that the min wage cannot be $200 but accorging to your own words the min wage simply raises peoples wage and is a benifit?????? can you see the illogical nonsense of your argument?

  • What has wal-mart done for me? Nothing, but for my american friends they have provided cheap products.

The minimum wage keeps wages up by keeping low skilled workers unemployed and preventing the youth from getting their first foot on the rung(e.g. working as a gas station attendant while apprenticing as a mechanic).

  • A TV is made in America for 350 and sells on the shelf for 500. The American worker gets a slice of the pie (a good wage and health care), and he pays a fair tax on his wage. A TV is made in China for 75 and sells on the same shelf for 500. They sell you a line of shit about how cheap that TV is and you buy it. Wal- marts

CEO and Wall Street laugh at how stupid America is. The worker now has a min wage job with no health care selling the TV at Wal- Mart. The worker in China makes 20cents/hr.

  • your wrong, first of all the american worker doesnt pay a fair tax he pays an oppressive tax mostly in the form of inflation. and the only reason that this chinese example is possible is because of the american and chinese gov, not the free market, the individual in america and chaina are both hurt by their gov, so your solution is more gov? to put our inflation tax and insane overall tax rates in perspective think about how impossible it is for you to live on .5 per hr, impossible, thnks to gov

  • Not more Gov.

A Gov that is for the people not for the Corp. FREE MARKET, FREE MARKET, FREE MARKET THE CEOs LICK DA CHOPS WHEN THEY HEAR THAT

  • I got news for you, a gov with the power to take from some and give to others will never be fore the people, it will be only for the select few that have pull. why cant you understand this? a big powerfull gov with power to regulate business and wage and a million other things is not and never can be a gov for the people. only if we obey the constitution and limit our gov can it be fore the people.

  • Sir, do you watch G. Edward Griffin videos here on youtube? Peace and Happy New Year 2010!

  • I guess thats what it has come to in America. We screw all the workers we can. We screw the stock and savings and 401Ks of the working class. We screw the working classes with taxes. Now we have to screw the teenagers.

  • its not the free market who screwed people and their savings its the gov. remember wall street didnt steal our money, our gov stole it from us and gave it to them. you have no understanding of reality and economics, your views all come from a fantasy of an ideal world. it would be nice if everyone in the world was a millionair and had everything they wanted, but thats not reality so stop comparing ideas to that notion

  • The free market is nothing more than a joke that will come to an end. South America sent Bush home with his free market up his ass. The EU rejects it as well. America just needs some more free market pain -poverty, no health care, increase crime, unsafe products, class warfare, more unemployment. In time the free market types will hang.

  • ok well I can see you are too far gone in your socialist propaganda to be coherant so I said all I can say to you since you already are brainwashed from this idea that gov knows best and individual freedom is somehow a bad thing. its funny because no one had healthcare or safe products when the socialist soviets collapsed, and crime was higher than ever, are you smarted than the rest of the world? is your brand of socialism somehow more feasible than everyone elses? g/l finding the truth one day

  • Your a repeater station for Rush and Beck.

YEA YEA THE DEMS HAVE STOLE MY FREEDOM, BOO HOO, BOO HOO

That was the Bush Admin. Your a year late.

  • bush and obama are the same thing ass wipe. just like dem and rep, they both ignore the constuitution and take money from us and give it to the rich. obama was just as responsible for the bailouts as bush or mccain and the rest of them. stop living the lie of choice between dem and republicans lol. you keep having this straw man argument with rush and so on, deal with reality son.
