I saw Fugazi around this time at 1227, which years later became "The Galaxy." However, I thought that was later than 87. Maybe 89 or 90. The stage is big enough to be 1227, but damn, not sure.
My first Fugazi show was in '93 - two shows at Mississippi Nights (with Dazzling Killmen). I was only 11 years old in '88, but this show looks like it was also at Mississippi Nights.
I never missed a Fugazi show in St. Louis. I was a freshman in High-School in 88. I dont remember where this show was. In 91 or 92 they played a two night show, one of which was my birthday at Mississippi Nights with the Dazzling Killmen. That was wild. That was the first time I ever heard the Killmen. The perfect opener for Fugazi.
A little loose but, hey, it's 1988, and if u didnt want 2 listen to David lee roth (no offense, luv him) u went to a $5 show and rocked out w/these guys. Hell, i'm rocking out to this song even to this day. Good raw $h1T. Thumbs up.
Ian MacKaye is actually a really good guitar player, huh? Would've loved to see these guys live, just another band that was before my time...:-( Still, great video!
Oh, and how come on every single Fugazi video we have to listen to all these douches trying to prove themselves by trying to define this band as "emo" or whatever. Emo=Emotional, and almost all music has emotion in it. By that definition, you could say that The fucking Beatles were emo! ;-D
Saw them around the same time in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan union. Sat on the front of the stage a foot in front of Joe Lally the whole show. blew my 17year old mind!!!
saw them in Kalamazoo,Pontiac,State theatre in Detroit and once in L.A. when I visited my buddy.
alright guys whatever u wanna say about fugazi's genre they are the definition of alternative rock and have had teh biggest impact on alternative rock of any other band except POSSIBLY Rites of Spring and if you don't agree with me just research Jimmy Eat World or Sunny Day Real Estate or damn maybe even Weezer check their influences
fugazi is so much more then hardcore.... they're funky as hell and are creative they dont just scream and shit their music is ultra creative....i dont like hardcore grindcore or any metal for that matter but like i said fugazi is so much more than just hardcore and always stuck to their guns and never sold out
they arent emo. they never sold out, wont make band merch, wont give interviews in magazines that advertise beer or ciggerettes because they are straight edge, print the price of their cds on the cds so stores cant change it, play all their shows for like 5 bucks, and they have ian mckay, if thats not punk what is?
and besides emo back then and stupid emo now is much different.
either way they are awesome, if you dont like them why watch the vid?
Wow, I live 2 hours away from where this happened. Too bad I was 12 at the time and wouldn't find out about them and Minor Threat until I was 18. At least I did. Great clip. Fugazi came to my town in '94 I think. My friend told me that they had to stop playing several times and cut the show early because frat boys thought the point of the show was to start fights. Oh how many $40 concerts I would turn in for one $10 Fugazi show!
I am locking down comments on my videos guys. I spend more time deleted "Great site but check this site out HOTBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH" than I do reading real comments. I hate to censor, and I won't as long as it's on topic, but these comment flooders need to be stopped.
yeah its too bad that i learned about fugazi 2 months ago i love them! now its too late that theyre on hiatus for like 6 years now if only i was alive when this band was around now there is no such thing as GOOD music it seems like im the only kid in the world whos heard of fugazi and other good bands
Green day represents the misery that punk became since the midle 90's. MTV bullshit punk. no more atittude bands like bad brains minor threat, black flag, DK, Husker du, Minutemen or Descendents.
old green day (before american idiot) was pretty good. them along with offspring fitted well in the 90s. theyre 90s punk bands (except green day - they lost their privlages in being called punk: american idiot = sell out!)
Dude, they sold out with dookie, well, sold out to punk that is. banned from Gilman st with that record going major. Then they changed genres again when they made Idiot. By the way, selling out means they just changed scenes and left it behind, but man, they still are a great band, just not street. I respect their performance, their songwriting, all that, they're just not punk, and werent since they made dookie.
Right cunning, it was first performed by Greenday all right. Maybe that's why this video of "Waiting Room" was filmed a year before Greenday was even formed. I would really like to know how Greenday could've possibly performed this before Fugazi when Greenday wasn't even around during this time.
Actually Fugazi is not really a band, and this footage is from the future. This show happens in 2048. Greenday were also ghostwriters for Beethoven, Joy Division, Tiffany and Brian Eno.
i am sure that you have gotten a lot of crap for your comment but i must add and say you must be very young. greenday is pretty standard stuff, explore the world my man - hopefully you will come across minutemen, badbrains and FUGAZZZI!! God i love music
hey guys, i need help. my cd's are packed away and i need to identify a fugazi song to post. it's the song where joe sings off of 'end hits.' let me know please so i can post. thanks, rites
In 88', I was 8 years old and playing with G.I. Joes. Five years later I was doing kickflips and stealing my sisters Fugazi tapes. It's hard to believe these guys have been around so long. It almost feels like a band doesn't exist till' you personally discover them for yourself.
i read an interview with Guy about the whole dancing thing. he said that in the first year or so, when Guy wasn't playing guitar yet, they were pretty okay with dudes just dancing and jumping around and being onstage. when they got more serious they stopped doing that, and realized that they just weren't into the whole toughguy dancing thing.
I use to go go dance to this song! hahaha. Great to shake your rump to it! I danced in a cage 25 feet above a crowd! Not my fave fugazi song either, but still a good one!
I'm surprised to see how casual they were about stagediving and guys running into them and shit. Any time I saw them, that would have brought the song to a halt -- oh no, wait. I just got to the end, and that was probably Guy's first warning to the crowd of the night.
everyone grows, some up, some out, some just tire of it all. i love the fact they STILL perform, they still give 100% today, just like '98 or '88, etc...
Except they DON'T still perform. They've been on "extended hiatus" for a few years. They live in different cities, they're busy with other projects, etc. They've never stated their intention to break up, but there don't seem to be any plans to play together in the near future, either.
