  • tik was in the crease ...lol...tough shit...they would've never reviewed that call anyway

  • still brings chills up my spine..

  • My favorite moment from this, Brodeur sitting in the net in disbelief

  • Howie rose sounds so much different than he does now

  • other than andres cantors call of landon donavan vs algeria this is the best call ever

  • I had the honor of being at this game in section 333 Row K seat 5, my season ticket. IMHO, the greatest hockey game I have ever seen in my life! For pure hockey, this game was BETTER than Game 7 in 94 Vs the Canucks.. Howie's call is one for the ages. Howie was a lifelong Ranger fan, and that is the call of a FAN as much as it was a call by a play by play guy...

  • That never gets old..

  • Howie Rose mother fucker

  • As an NYR fan since '69, I still get a major rush from watching this clip!!!

  • Ahhh such a great moment in Rangers history. I was 8 years old when this happend and i can still rember it, it will never get old. Rangers are starting to look good again this year. Hopefully they can win another championship in the comming years.

  • Devils fans were heart broken, but they have nothing to be ashamed of... both teams were winners in that series. But no one was more of a winner then the sport of hockey and the fans of hockey. And not only that, but the Devils won 3 Stanley cups right after that, 1995, 2000, and 2003.

    MVPs?

    No, NOT BRODEUR, WHAT?

1995: Claude Lemieux (He was scoring goals that Grinders never were meant to score)

    2000: Scott Stevens

2003: JS Gigeure of the Ducks, because he was a BEAST IN NET.

  • It never ever ever gets old for me.

  • ring mother fucking tone

  • Rangers still have 4,, thats one more than the devs

  • Leave it to Raggot fans. Continuing to celebrate an almost 20 year old Stanley Cup as if you won it last season.

What has your team done since then? Fucking nothing. Have fun continuing to reside in the shadow of the Devils.

  • @BrittaanyBanks oh stfu.. it was an awesome moment :P

  • @SVR09Legends If it were not for you losers constantly talking about this as if it were the next coming of Jesus Christ himself people would have forgotten it completely by now.

  • @BrittaanyBanks It's called new york pride my dude. Regardless if you lose or win we'll always think about the good times and hope that we'll have another one :P... just stick with your team and we'll stick with ours m'kay

  • @BrittaanyBanks i dont like to start shit online but what have the devils done since 03? besides bring back the same people over and over and try to keep reliving something? but ur right we will live in the shadow of firing the head coach with 3 and 8 games left, Kovalchuk's 17-year contract (beating out dipietro ha!!) and btw how many people do u hear raving about the devils prospects? in the area rangers and isles prospects r light years better and once brodeur is gone ur in trouble

  • @JJJerryrum As opposed to throwing 8 million dollars a year at players like Bobby Holik and Scott Gomez that shit the bed on the Raggots? You making fun of ANY other teams front office decisions when the Raggots are the kings of shit moves makes your fan base look even more moronic then they usually do. Kudos.

  • @BrittaanyBanks true we have made bad moves but at the time gomez was a great player and u fail to mention that we werent the only team throwing that kinda money at him and as for holik the devils signed him 4 years after we did!!!! plus hows the devils prospects lookin? u fail to awnser my question on that one anyone would take the rangers prospects over the devils plus once again when brodeur retires ur screwed btw how did that 4 year 20 million dollar deal for a 35 yr old rolston work out?

  • @BrittaanyBanks Despite your profane way of stating things, your point WAS correct, until about 3 years ago when the Rangers stopped throwing money at overpriced vets, and started building from within, they are now one of leagues youngest teams (with an avg. age of about 27) and have one of the top scouting and player development machines in the NHL. Certainly better than NJ, who do not have many top prospects in Jr's or the minors, NYR also turned Gomez into McDonagh, win-win!

  • if this was the Double O/T Game 7 Stanley Cup Final can you imagine how balistic he'd of gone he went mad GETTING to the stanley cup final that commentators box would if that happen when they WON.....

  • hate the fucking rangers but this is a fucking dope call !

  • And then, within the next 8 years, the Devils win 3 Cups.

    Wow.

And I'm not a Devils fan - GO JETS!

  • @NessMencesal And nobody remembers the Devils Cup wins. But ask someone who won the Cup in '94 and everyone knows the answer: NY Rangers.

  • would have given anything in the world to have a ticket to one those seats behind that net

  • METAL! METAL! METAL! DEFEND METAL!

  • i love you daddy <3

  • I was in a bar -packed with all my friends in my hometown, when the puck went in we ajumped on eachother ,screaming and smiling--beer went EVERYWHERE! That moment and Bucky Dent's HR in Boston are my 2 most memorable sports moments-and as a lifelong New Yorker,I have seen ALOT!!!!

  • @TheZayne34 not aaron boone?

  • what if the curse is every 54 years (from a ranger fan)

  • @vcambboo you don't say that(think of will ferrell when you read that)

  • Howie Rose! Howie Rose! Howie Rose!!

  • 17 years to the day

  • Can't believe Howie Rose does the Islanders now

  • Just brought a tear to my eye. Can't believe it was 17 years ago now

  • still gives me chills no matter how many times i watch it, im getting his jersey soon

  • still sends chills down my spine

  • i remember just going crazy that day

  • probably the most memorable sports moment of my childhood

  • As a Flyers' fan, I hate both of these teams, but I'll never forget this goal.

  • My toe! My toe! My toe! I bend my toe!

  • always gives me chills

  • Ugh, this still hurts to watch, although the Devils have had much better success since that season than NY and I guess in hindsight I can say NY had an awesome team that year and deserved it, but still... hard way to lose that way.

  • one of the best night's of my young life!!

  • the rangers have to many memories this is one of the best

  • MY TOE MY TOE MY TOE STEP ON MY TOE

  • Thank you Howie Rose !!!!!

  • brings a tear of joy to my eye

  • That's one heck of a hook by Niedermayer lol. My, how times have changed.

  • THIS IS NOW MY RINGTONE!

  • Have seen this play dozens of times, still not clear how he beat Brodeur...did he bounce it of the d-man's skates?

  • I was there in section 333. One of the greatest moments of my life. By far the greatest hockey game I ever saw. In terms of pure hockey, it was better than game 7 against Vancouver.

  • Section 409 Row D seat 14. One of the best nights of my life. FU Debbies!!!

  • stephane is one of my dad's best friends since they played together in chicago... great player, amazing human.

  • @noangeldustneeded Is claude lemieux your uncle?

  • @TheTzdope yezzir

  • I personally think this should be in the "sportscentre top 10" "greatest annoucer calls" I love the intensity he has!

  • ironic how the announcer who called this is howie rose, who is the present New York ISLANDERS televison play by play commentator. but wat a great call

  • @tyrehd we can only feel bad for him :(

  • @tyrehd he sold his soul and is currently paying the price!

  • This is still the worst moment of my life. The Devils have won three Cups while only missing the playoffs twice since this and I'd trade them all in. I was 14 when this happened and living in Westchester County ... I was the only fucking Devils fan any of these people knew and they were relentless.

  • biggest goal in ranger history and it was scored from behind the net!

  • sounds like his mouth is covered

  • a classic call....GREAT announcer

  • This brings back so many good ol memories hahahahahaha. Matteau, Matteau, Matteau!! The whole city of NY was going crazy that yr. I was like 12 back then watching this at home with my brother I remember and he is a devils fan. I was jumping for joy and laughing at him. He was so frustrated and didn't want to talk about it hahahahahaha. Those were good ol memories that will never be forgotten. Now the rangers need to start rebuilding right if they want to win another cup like this one.

  • I wonder if Brodeur picked up the puck to give it to Matteau? hmmmmmmmm

  • @scales57 the fat boy wanted to eat it, afterall it was double overtime!

  • @TheTzdope hahahahahahaha

  • im a flyers fan but in my opinion that is one of the greatest calls in the history of sports

  • i'm a flyers fan but in my opinion that is one of the greatest calls in the history of sports

  • I was pretty young when this happened, but I'm so glad they could win it all so my grandfather could actually witness a Ranger championship before he died two years later.

  • THANK YOU MATTEAU FOR A RANGERS VICTORY <333333

  • its the 16th anniversary of Matteau's goal

  • my favorite words other than THEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES WIN lol

  • the best thing about ranger videos is the immaturity of the devil fans, are they all 12 years old or something?they seem to not be able to understand its a business and trades are made, sometimes they work out, sometimes they dont.

  • GO MATTEAU

Richeter > Lundqvist > Brodeur, richter is amazing brodeur sucks balls

  • Howie Rose is the most under rated play by play man in all sports.

  • 2nd bday :)

    best birthday present ever

  • I never get tired of this....

  • @ekimfloom Good thing, because it is never going to happen ever again.

  • brodeur brilliance again..how about coach lemaire and ottawa's alex kovalev...

all again with a 2010 playoff chance..

though almost NOTHING matches this moment in nryrangers fans history....every ranger fan remembers where they were that night.

me,,,i was in Toronto with a nother ranger fan,,,a blind gentlement,,,we wouldnt leave a restraunt til it was over,,,then we acted like foolish little kids...rolling around and jumping like crazy,

    forever young

    jctoronto

  • I remember where I was. NOT BORN YET!!!!!

  • maybe harder to believe,

the great Brodeur heads into another playoff round in two weeks,,,and this is 2010.

  • My god it doesnt get better than that... hard to belvie it was 16 years ago... still feels like yesterday...

  • Potvin STILL Sucks!

  • That is why he has as many Stanley Cups won as the Rangers do in their entire existence?

  • @mrceebees14 So? Henri Richard has over twice that. Who cares. We won. You lost.

  • @11DNA11 Not a Devils fan.

Edmonton won, they were just wearing Rangers jerseys.

  • @mrceebees14 You must be a VERY bitter and jealous hockeyfan, because whenever i go see a Ranger video, your stupid comments are there. Get a life or end it. I don't care.

  • @11DNA11 MY TOE MY TOE MY TOE

  • what the hell are you smoking Matteau plays for the rangers and idk if he ever played for the Oilers and explain this. "AND THE RANGERS HAVE ONE MORE HILL TO CLIMB BABY"

    ur either retarded or idk

  • @Ironknite9 And the Rangers have no hill to climb, the Edmonton Oilers climbed it for them.

All the Rangers did was paid whatever they had to to stop the league from chanting 1940!!!

  • @11DNA11 Richard is dead, who cares.

  • @mrceebees14 Learn your fucking hockey before you run your mouth. Henri Richard is very much alive.

  • @11DNA11 He is nearly dead, like the Rangers every season.

  • Matteau, Matteau, Matteau! We love you in NY

  • okay now i must be missing something here but what is it he says at the end...I thought it might be this but im not sure. ONE MORE HILL TO CLIMB BABY....GUNNA SMURF VANCOUVER or maybe GUNNA STUMP VANCOUVER

  • ..."But its Mt. Vancouver

  • @drjimmy64 thank you so much haha. now it fits to me... god i must be an idiot haha

  • The Rangers have one more hill to climb baby and its Mt. Vancounver---the Rangers are headed to the finals.

  • Ekimfloom...I hear ya there.

No matter WHAT negativity transpires in my life...this video..and THAT call, will ALWAYS and FOREVER, make me smile.

  • Despite the fact the Blueshirts are not playing well, despite the fact I am getting ready to divorce my wife after 16 years, THIS FUCKING ROCKS!

    I go with the flow...

  • Yeah, gives me chills too.

When I was younger, I thought he said, "MY TOE! MY TOE! MY TOE! STEP ON MY TOE!"

  • @nygblue24 LMFAO !!!!!

  • Where's the video that includes Gary Thorne's voice screaming 1940 Is History?

  • Matteau! Matteau! Matteau! Great call! Sounds like he hurt himself on that call! MY TOE! MY TOE! MY TOE! LMAO! This is one of the best calls in sports history!

  • that always give me chills

yeah matteau make brodeur even more of a baby woohoo
