Small countrys like Finland, Sweden, Switzerland just tried to stay alive and be on a map. Sweden and Switzerland did great, Finland had to fight first Soviets. 1941 you had to choose side. Cooperation with germany was Finlands only option, because of WinterWar. Even if Finland choosed to fight germans, soviets could backstab.
I think that the Russian people are hostages to the circumstances. No need to blame the Russians. All claims to Georgia, because Stalin and Beria were Georgians on a nationality and were born and have grown in Georgia. All evil deeds and mass executions have been made by order of Stalin and Beria.

The Finns lost any moral advantage when bowing to Hitler later on. The serendipitous by-product of the Winter War was that the Russian army learnt tactics from the Finns which greatly helped in the defeat of Nazi germany.

The US had the same problem as many nations who were involved in WW1, public opinion was against getting involved again. But Roosevelt pushed "neutrality" to the limit in favour of the Western Allies and the US were sinking U-boats well before December 1941 and escorting convoys to the UK well before officially joining hostilities. Read some history!

It is quite justified that there was Allied hostility towards Finland. During the Winter War the US and British supplied Finland, albeit indirectly - Gloster Gladiators and Brewster Buffaloes were two of the types supplied. The Aircobra and Buffalo are regarded as the two worst fighters of the time although the Finns had success with Buffaloes.

Oh the U.S. were "involved in hostility's" long before the sinking of U-Boats in 1941, hell Henry Ford was directly responsible for helping the Blitzkrieg conquer Europe. Without his trucks the German army would have been half as efficient. Oh but it goes farther then that, Standard Oil was helping the war effort as well, their fuel additive was needed in order for the Luftwaffe to bomb Britain. Without it they could not fly that far.

Equipment was returned after the war, even the old WWI junk, to Sweden. Finland lost 12% of it's land and homes of half a million people not to mention dead. The US had the same problem as many nations who were involved in WW1, public opinion was against getting involved again. But Roosevelt pushed "neutrality" to the limit in favour of the Western Allies and the US were sinking U-boats well before December 1941 and escorting convoys to the UK well before officially joining hostilities. It is quite justified that there was Allied hostility towards Finland. During the Winter War the US and British supplied Finland, albeit indirectly - Gloster Gladiators and Brewster Buffaloes were two of the types supplied. The Aircobra and Buffalo are regarded as the two worst fighters of the time although the Finns had success with Buffaloes.

Oh the U.S. were "involved in hostility's" long before the sinking of U-Boats in 1941, hell Henry Ford was directly responsible for helping the Blitzkrieg conquer Europe. Without his trucks the German army would have been half as efficient. Oh but it goes farther then that, Standard Oil was helping the war effort as well, their fuel additive was needed in order for the Luftwaffe to bomb Britain. Without it they could not fly that far.

We didn't start a new war. The war was just stuck to trench warfare. Then we wanted to get back our lands and started an attack. The germans weren't with us, they were only in Lappi trying to capture Murmansk. We asked for peace at 1939, but who anyways wants a war? The soviets started that war with he Mainila's shots. Go learn some REAL history, not soviets propaganda.

Equipment was returned after the war, even the old WWI junk, to Sweden. Finland lost 12% of it's land and homes of half a million people not to mention dead. USSR was helped with 11 billion USD worth of aid. THOUSANDS of tanks, aeroplanes, TONS of food, ammunition, cash, credits. And you are talking about 131 000 rifles? God dammit. Finns fought with bare hands when running out of equipment.

Without swedish material help it could be different outcome in the war. Ordinary swedish people were ready to do a lot. And there was politicians who were ready to send troops also. In public pressure it was also possible to send the voluntairs to Finland.
On the other hand prime minister Hansson really wasn´t our man. He even resisted when the Soviets were expelled from the league of the nations.
Today it´s 70 years when the finnish army faced the big red monster, the 105 glory days.
