  • i loove seeing old videos of knoebels!!!!!!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!1

  • if they get rid of the flyer it would be a crime!

    I ♥ knoebels and

    I ♥ the flyer

  • what was the whirlwind?

  • @irishrage32 a semi loop roller coaster

  • @irishrage32

Whirlwind was a steel coaster almost 50 feet high that had 2 corkscrews. It was a very short ride. It was located right next to the Flyer.

  • I remember going to Knoebels when I was 4 years old. I remember the ride on the Flyer it is such a great ride. I remember going on I think it is called the Roto Jets or something and of course the Paratrooper. What a great classic park better than Dorney and Hershey I will bring my children to Knoebels I go every single year and always still enjoy myself it brings out the kid in me. I can't wait for Flying Turns to be completed and I can't wait to ride it ! I am so excited to go to KNOEBELS.

  • what did they ever do with the old ferris wheel before the one the one they have now days and was old ferris wheel as big as one they have now days are was it smaller and by how much smaller

  • @chris921973 The old Ferris wheel was located in the area where the Italian Trapeze now stands if I remember correctly. It was tiny compared to the current wheel which is 110 feet tall, the tallest in Pennsylvania. If my memory is correct, the Ferris wheel in this video had metal "screens" installed on the sides of the chairs at some point to prevent people from sticking their arms out the sides.

  • This is a great amusement park. thanks for posting.

  • what ride was that at 1:06 ????

  • That was the Jet Star. Purchased from Coney Island NY in 1977, when the ride was only a year old. It was replaced by the Whirlwind in 1993 and sent to Wildwood NJ. I don't think the Jet Star is in NJ anymore.

  • whats that ride at 1:07?

  • Living in Union County my entire 35 years now, I have been going to Knoebels since probably around 1982. I remember the Jet-Star fondly, it was a great ride. You would go down the first hill and snap into a hard right hand turn. In my early 20's, my friends and I would ride the log flume ride and absolutely soak each other thru the tunnel. Knoebels is a real treasure, and I for one appreciate what the Knoebel's family has done, giving us central PA residents a fun place to go for so many years.

  • KNOW-Bels had a flood

  • I grew up in Danville. I now live in Maryland. The closest amusement park is about a 2 hr . drive. It's funny the little things you take for granted. There's no longer the whole idea of waking up on a random morning and just deciding you're gonna go ride some rides for the day. I'm only a state away, and most of my family is still in the area. It will always be there when I go home for summer visits!!!

  • The Jetstar at 1:08 and then in the background shot of the flyers. Too bad they tore that coaster down, it was way more fun then the STUPID Whirlwind they put up. Tore that down to put up the Flying Turns. Hope they soon get it done and running. Been waiting a couple years now to ride that.

  • One question for you. Do you remember the path old smokey used to take? I know it was rerouted at some point.

  • Ole Smokey had a loop between the Grand Carousel and the Roaring Creek Saloon. I think the people boarded on the loop. There was no station or a line area.

  • How far the other way did it go? I remember going there as a little kid and it being different.

  • I miss the Country Bears!(hard luck bears)

  • most days i work on the hand cars. 1:57 that clips is of the 3 cars coming around the last turn and down the straightaway. the turn right there at the tree is the top of a hill that most children get stuck at... if i can see them good enough i could tell you which cars they were riding in. in order first to last car 7, 2, and i believe 5, but im not quite sure.

  • If you notice in the back ground, you can see old smokey and the pony rides. Old smoke was relocated and the pony rides closed shortly after. Also, there was a large giraffe (not shown) which was a height gauge. If you fit under the giraffe, you were allowed on the hand cars.

  • the ride at 1:10 i one time almost got caught in a branch but the ride was moving so fast that i went right through it and knocked the branch over

  • I remember grabbing the pine tree from the Satellite

  • my family has been coming to knoebels for yrs but its sad thye got rid of 2 rides in the past 5 yrs like the whirl wind is gone and that little highspeed coaster is gone to i used to love that

  • my family have been going to Knoebles for 30 years. This vid has brought back many good memories. my hope is that the park retains its small town feel and charm. I know it has to grow to keep up with the times, but I always love Knoebles best in the early morning, when it is just the campers in the camp ground and the park is just starting to come to life. It is more magical than Disney, to me and my family...Just wanted to thank you for posting this.

  • Nice video.

The Jet Star can be found on our loverly ride timeline in the Coal Mining museum back room. The Whirlwind was sold, I believe....can't remember to where. Rather silly short thing though, I always thought. The Flying Turns was supposed to open the end of '06, didn't happen. Beginning of '07, nope. '08...if they're lucky they'll have it ready for the Fall Fun Fest. It's a rather complicated contraption.

  • whats that rise at 1:05?

  • I don't know what the name of the ride is that you asked me about, but its long gone, I know that. I believe the "Whirlwind" rollercoaster was put in its place, and that too is now gone. Knoebels is building their own rollercoaster in the spot now, its something resembling a wooden luge. There is NO TRACK, cars whip around inside what looks like half of a wooden tube, for some length of time. Its due to open this summer I believe.

  • The original metal roller coaster was called the Jet Star. This coaster was bought from Coney Island and opened in 1977. In 1993, the Whirlwind replaced the Jet Star.

  • i couldn't wait till i was big enough to ride the jetstar when i was kid. brings back good memories. great video

  • Thank you VERY MUCH for this video! I was born in 1978, and I've been going to Knoebels every year since I was 2 or 3! To think, I may have been somewhere in this video at the age of 4 is just amazing! I'll be 30 near the end of this month and I still go to Knoebels at least 3 times every summer.

  • what is that ride at 1:05?

  • it is the jet star

  • Almost every thing is the same extect for that roller coster were flying turns is now and that small ferris wheel.

  • I'm sure in about 20 to 15 years u could sell that to the park for there museum!!! (Glad they ditched that Ferris Wheel!!!

  • This is a really nice video!!! Thanks for posting it =)

  • I always loved the Carousel and the train.

  • AWESOME! One of the millions of things I love about that place is that nothing changes :) :)

  • dido

  • very nice to see the park 25 years ago before the Phoenix was relocated there. This park is indeed a true gem. One can only imagine what they have in store after the Flying Turns.

  • Cool! Be there later this month! Thanks for showing what it was like back in 1982!!

  • wow thats really old
