Best. Pokemon. EVER. Me and my mom got the date wrong, and I missed the event to get it :( So, it lead to my first ever AR. I have never regretted this guy. He´s fun as hell to use, just switch his forms around if you want something new. plus, look at the guy. He is badass.
Immediately when I started this I realized that the sound effect at the beginning sounded extremely familiar. Then I realized that they used that same effect in Jailbreaker 1 or 2 (or both) for the iPhone.
Hoenn is just the best region for a few very good reasons.
it introduced natures
it introduced abilities.
and most importantly.
it gave us probably the most thematically together and imo best soundtrack, almost every song in Hoenn sounds like the others in a way thats good but not repeticive

what if they made a plot based on all legendaries evolving except mew when they reach level ex while hoding an item except mew. that cold have many objectives like stoping the bad guys from obtaing the items,legendaries, and they could have shadow pokemon. with this idea there could be somany new and great things like a win lose story line where the story is altered if you lose
Sinnoh's soundtrack puts it in first place. Unova would be first except that the music, while being good music, still doesn't come close to sinnoh. Johto I think could be less similar than kanto and kanto has lavender town...

a guy that works in the nintendo company was asked if they were planning on making hoenn remakes. he replied that the original games were important to him and thanked the person for their input. not sure what that all means.....

@joemoe175 Gen 5 soundtrack was basically a Mix of Emerald + Platinum Sondtracks if you pay close attention, i forget which one it is but it sounds VERY similar to the Lake Trio form P/D/P

@ZoroarkSKA They had already run through 493 ideas. And then they came up with 156 more. Even Nintendo's creativity has to dead-end at some point. Considering that, I think they did quite well, just using a slightly different style that caught people off guard.

In Unova, I feel that a lot of the pokemon present are more of filler than anything, and the pokemon and battle concepts were a bbit dulled down. At the same time, some of the things they introduced were amazing, powerful and game changing. Such as, eviolite. Having to look out for bayleef as a defensive threat in the metagame at times is truly interesting.
@THESLIMSHADYFTW Hang on a second. at least unova had a storyline. sinnoh was inquestionably the low point in pokemon history. I mean purugly, a head on an oval and all the starters had no necks. come on piplup was a circle on another circle with two ovals as legs. the fourth generation pokemon had no soul, they were grossly overpowered ( arceus for example) . the music was worse than justin beiber after inhaling helium. Team galactic were a joke. one of them sends out a level 50 wurmple. WTF

Put Unova last because I just felt it lacked... Something. I enjoyed it, but I think something might've been left out... I left Johto out since I never have played G/S yet, but I'm planning to.
for some reason or another, i feel people have jumped onto the bandwagon of "if we say sinnohs boring we will get thumbs up" seriously, look at all the comments saying "sinnoh is boring" without even stating any real points, ive even read a comment saying Sinnohs gameplay is boring, if so isnt every pokemon games gameplay boring?
Favorite region is Hoenn. My first main game was Emerald, though it wasn't as good as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon it just had that unique feel to it of adventure...something that the other regions lacked...

@GrovyleXShinyCelebi The excess of trees, and overgrown grass, the waterfalls in every body of water almost. Yes, there's a lot that contributes, something that no other generation can compare to. Hoenn was truly an experience. Growing up in the times of Gen1 must have been amazing, but if anything, those growing up with Gen 1 should be jealous of us. We don't look back at our childhoods and say it will never be the same again, because with our childhoods came an infinite determination.

Having every Pokemon game in existence for the gameboys(still my red/blue/yellow work by a miracle since I lost them at one point) and as someone who is playing Emerald right now, I'd like to state that Gold/silver/Crystal were true experiences that emerald/ruby/saphire took a lot out of. Hoenn brought very little to the table, but after you mentioned you didn't grow up on the originals I doubted you'd know that.
@RetroGamerMan64 You have two regions, a classic track list, a decent plot, but beyond the extra regions what are you implying Hoenn lacks? You start with a Pokemon, you beat the evil team(s), get a master ball, face off against the cover legendary, E4, and that's standard with all Pokemon games. Hoenn is MISSING nothing, and since you're too blinded by pure nostalgia you're failing to take into account the quality of any gameplay. Gen I-II were great, but not in comparison to Gen III.
@ProfessionalManlyMan i grow up with gen-I and gen-II but when i played ruby and got into hoenn i was mesmerized by its beauty everything was so vivid it became my fav pokemon Gen untill today , and the gen-3 pokemon were absolutely awesome better than gen 1 and 2 imo but I have to say that the gen's 1 E4 was the strongest.

Basically, Johto needed more things to do, esp. after Kanto was completed. Kanto brings back SO MANY MEMORIES, but was also too simple and overrated, and a portion of the Pokemon looked dumb(the piles of sludge, the exploding Pokeballs, the pink dildo blob, the blonde woman with purple skin and huge boobs)

Sinnoh was much too similar to Hoenn, with the contests. The Pokemon were awesome, but the characters lacked personality, and MOST OF the music was terrible.
@DaMysteryPerson Unova had too much variety in personalities, its like its saying no-one has the same personality and which alot are annoying (Clay, Chile, Cilan, Burgh, Iris, Cheren, Bianca). While Platinum's games had different personalities which some could be annoying to you (Dawn and Barry), Sinnoh also has the advantage of the best antagonist, Cyrus was badass while N contradicted himself

Giovanni was the typical mafia boss for which money and profit is everything. Maxie and Archie were fighting each other for their own absurd beliefs. Cyrus was a deeply messed up megalomaniac. And N is an honest, idealistic, candid and naive lad who's been horribly deceived...

Top 5 Regions IMHO
1. Unova. AMAZING storyline and music, made me cry at the end. Also, Pokemon were awesome. Some were weird though, like Klink's evolutionary line. :V
2. Hoenn. My first video game ever, and I love all the Pokemon in this region with a passion.
3. Johto. Awesome gameplay, and the rush from the Red battle got me going.
4. Kanto. Egh, people make this sound more fun than it really is. Slightly boring storyline, and really dull designs.
5. Sinnoh. Only thing I like is Giratina.

My top 5 regions in my opinon
1. HOENN- Awesome pokemon! These pokemon here were great ideas! Also, a good concept
2. Unova- Beast soundtrack and ok pokemon- but bad rivals ( A hippie, a must win, and bianca...)
3. Kanto- I don't know how this fell this far. The pokemon are great and so is the plot.
4. Johto- Still cool, but I don't like the pokemon ideas alot. I mean look at pokemon like Jumplifff. A dandilion?
5. Overated Sinnoh- Ok plot, ok sound, pokemon ideas not good... but sill cool

1. Johoto (Absolutley bad ass. Probably the best, being able to goto to 2 diffrent regions)
2. Kanto (Same goes for Johto, still badass)
3: Hoenn (Not bad, good region and cool rival)
4. Sinnoh (I think it's fantastic, about 600+ pokemon really long series, and a hole load of epic pokemon to catch. Starters were awesome)

1. Johto (Being able to play in 2 regions, badass rival)
2. Unova (Great main story, extremely catchy tracks and only able to catch the new Pokemon for a fresh start)
3. Hoenn (No complaints, just an awesome region)
4. Kanto (A true classic with one of the best rivals, just not much to do after beating it unless you count FireRed+Leafgreen)

2. Hoenn (BADASS! i love battling steven with his all 80's and the dramatic battle's between archie and maxie)

1. Kanto - The origional red, blue, green, and yellow didnt have the sevii islands, those were introduced in firered and leafgreen
2. Johto (comes before Hoenn) - Was really the first to introduce a strong ass trainer, and they're not dogs, they're beasts.
3. Hoenn - Ok but really not the best, Very atmospheric. The frontier was introduced here in emerald
4. Sinnoh - Also atmospheric, Not the first frontier appearance
5. Unova - Good games, not bad at all

In Unova, I feel that a lot of the pokemon present are more of filler than anything, and the pokemon and battle concepts were a bbit dulled down. At the same time, some of the things they introduced were amazing, powerful and game changing. Such as, eviolite. Having to look out for bayleef as a defensive threat in the metagame at times is truly interesting.

IMO, these were mai favs.

I mean purugly, a head on an oval and all the starters had no necks. come on piplup was a circle on another circle with two ovals as legs. the fourth generation pokemon had no soul, they were grossly overpowered ( arceus for example) . the music was worse than justin beiber after inhaling helium. Team galactic were a joke. one of them sends out a level 50 wurmple. WTF

Favorite region is Hoenn. My first main game was Emerald, though it wasn't as good as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon it just had that unique feel to it of adventure...something that the other regions lacked...

@GrovyleXShinyCelebi The excess of trees, and overgrown grass, the waterfalls in every body of water almost. Yes, there's a lot that contributes, something that no other generation can compare to. Hoenn was truly an experience. Growing up in the times of Gen1 must have been amazing, but if anything, those growing up with Gen 1 should be jealous of us. We don't look back at our childhoods and say it will never be the same again, because with our childhoods came an infinite determination.

Having every Pokemon game in existence for the gameboys(still my red/blue/yellow work by a miracle since I lost them at one point) and as someone who is playing Emerald right now, I'd like to state that Gold/silver/Crystal were true experiences that emerald/ruby/saphire took a lot out of. Hoenn brought very little to the table, but after you mentioned you didn't grow up on the originals I doubted you'd know that.

@RetroGamerMan64 You have two regions, a classic track list, a decent plot, but beyond the extra regions what are you implying Hoenn lacks? You start with a Pokemon, you beat the evil team(s), get a master ball, face off against the cover legendary, E4, and that's standard with all Pokemon games. Hoenn is MISSING nothing, and since you're too blinded by pure nostalgia you're failing to take into account the quality of any gameplay. Gen I-II were great, but not in comparison to Gen III.

@ProfessionalManlyMan i grow up with gen-I and gen-II but when i played ruby and got into hoenn i was mesmerized by its beauty everything was so vivid it became my fav pokemon Gen untill today , and the gen-3 pokemon were absolutely awesome better than gen 1 and 2 imo but I have to say that the gen's 1 E4 was the strongest.

Basically, Johto needed more things to do, esp. after Kanto was completed. @ReshiGirl (cont.) and Kanto had great characters, but overall, Kanto felt like a little kids' game, and what's up with that overused meme about Gary? Last and most likely least is Sinnoh. Sinnoh also felt like a little kids' game, with Dawn running around making you look brainless, and all those books and unnesessary trainer tips. Sinnoh was much too similar to Hoenn, with the contests. The Pokemon were awesome, but the characters lacked personality, and MOST OF the music was terrible.

@DaMysteryPerson Unova had too much variety in personalities, its like its saying no-one has the same personality and which alot are annoying (Clay, Chile, Cilan, Burgh, Iris, Cheren, Bianca). While Platinum's games had different personalities which some could be annoying to you (Dawn and Barry), Sinnoh also has the advantage of the best antagonist, Cyrus was badass while N contradicted himself

Giovanni was the typical mafia boss for which money and profit is everything. Maxie and Archie were fighting each other for their own absurd beliefs. Cyrus was a deeply messed up megalomaniac. And N is an honest, idealistic, candid and naive lad who's been horribly deceived...

Barry wasn't annoying to me, but Dawn/Lucas were both, like DaMysteryPerson said, freaks running around making you look like brainless little kids. N wasn't really a villain, he believed in the wrong things, and was stuck in one place his whole childhood, but N... was the best "villain" to me. And by Cyrus, do you mean the man who ran away/hid in a parallel world after being defeated by a 10-year-old?
