Can an idea kill by itself? Does a gun fire without a user? Does the simple idea of man going to the moon manufacture the space shuttles necessary? No, they don't.
Now, add the human factor to the scenario. Ideas cannot be made into reality until someone or something makes it happen. It is by that same principle that they also have the potential to become dangerous.
For religion: No followers = harmless religion.

I am a Christian and my Bible commands us to "love our enemies, do good to those that hate you and bless those that curse you and pray for those that despitefully use you." Mt 5:44-48. The bible contradicts itself, is scientifically and historically inaccurate and is full of failed prophecies and horrible atrocities committed by a supposedly kind and loving god. There is no greater argument against Christianity than the bible itself.
Tldr: The beauty can be accounted for without gods. The ugliness cannot be accounted for by god.
