Spain performed last in the line-up in both 1979 and 2009. What a co-incidence that they performed last exactly 30 years apart. However this 1979 entry is excellent compared to their 2009 effort. Spain's 2009 entry was, in my opinion, a rubbish song, better to be valued for its good dance routine than the song itself.

Betty Missiego, always moving her arms. I think she has 6, like Shiva. UNICEF gave Spain a few points that year, otherwise they would have been 7th or 8th. Both Israel and France deserved winning that year.

Magnífica canción, una de las mejores que se han mandado. Creo que el resultado fue justo ganando Israel y quedando ésta de segunda, pues reconozco que la de Israel era todavía mejor (y era difícil). Mala suerte.

Me gusta el festival Eurovisión, lo que no me gusta es lo que se está haciendo con él estos últimos años. Por ejemplo, como es la masa quien vota, con el tiempo las canciones que hayan obtenido los primeros puestos nos harán reír, no como éstas, que siguen perdurando.

They realised that this was kind of gimmicky and put a limit to age a few years later (i think the last child i remember on stage is Israel's 1989 entry). Voy a decir incluso más: en aquel entonces no podía hacer más o menos un juicio de la canción porque en 1979 yo tenía 4 años, pero ahora no me canso de mirarla y no dejo de ver lo hermosa que es. Y más valdría que mandaran canciones con frescura y vitalidad que las papanatadas que están mandando a Eurovisión últimamente, que por eso no me extraña que el festival esté cayendo en picado.

I think this was extremely overrated as you said! I think countries like Portugal, Denmark, Greece, Germany, France, Norway all had better songs! I'm not saying this is a bad song. I'm spanish and I have to say that Franco's grandaughter is not in this chorus. Franco was dead (thanks God!) in 1975 and his unique grandaughter was 28 years old in 1979. By the way, choreography is horrible, I know, but this comment offends me just a little. I know when "a revoluçao dos cravos" was (I make my history homeworks).

Anyway, I love this song. It's great!

I agree, this is a good song - and one that is complimented beautifully by Betty's particular brand of voice and the live arrangement (btw, along with the rest of the Israeli production, we must also give props to the EXCELLENT orchestra). As I said, its 2nd place (and close win) in a year with so many strong entries was indeed exaggerated, IMO, but nevertheless I can understand why the juries loved it so much - which is more than I can say about quite a few high-placing entries...

What was overrated in my opinion was Israel's victory. I have never cared much for their victories entries in 78 and 79. For me Germany,Spain,France,and Denmark were all much better than Hallelujah.And the lead singer in Milk and honey is not a very good singer.

I know that you are a great Je Suis Enfant Soliel fan, but I'm afraid I could listen to this song all day and never tire of it. It's wonderful!
