  • Oh my....... This song is so happy, but about death... MY CONFLICTING EMOTIONS ARE KILLING ME. >.>

  • @TheSegalliBrothers I think the point is they aren't opposite, it's just perspective.

  • This is the prettiest song ever written about death.

  • They completed what Dewey Cox wanted with "Shmusic"

  • I don't know where I heard this song, but I kept on hearing it out of the blue and I've finally found it!!!!!! I can die:)

  • The most beautiful Lips song, by far.

  • @MissGiGiChic Waiting for Superman?

  • @MissGiGiChic In my opinion, the most beautiful Lips song is "Feeling Yourself Disintegrate"

  • Amazing album and awesome track

  • seananners

  • Thank you CX

  • He used to realize...but then I got shot in the knee with an arrow....

  • 85 people must of not realized what button they were clicking.

  • The line: "Happiness makes you cry,"... really does this song justice.

  • make me teary eyed D:

  • this song is phenomenal. the line about the sun going down.... so true. life's brevity is perhaps it's most endearing and beautiful characteristic.

  • Stumbling away from The Police. Mind suffocated by trace elements of neon and an overwhelming, subterranean Bass. Losing each companion along the way. Slowly coming to terms with the facts: I am completely twisted. Andy Summers can't play the guitar and I am alone, under a tree, next to a beer tent, with no ID. I timed my medication too well. My synapses were firing on all cylinders. My mind was gone, though my motor skills remained. The Lips arrived, friends reunited, and all was well.

  • i try to

  • Sigh....

  • 83 people don't realize.

  • I miss my little sister

  • Amazing song!

  • It's an amazing feeling when a piece of music and you connect. From my first listen I've loved this album, and it has become one of my favorite albums. It's beautiful, and I wish everyone could feel this way about music.

  • @cmclay4545 like when you hear a song that completely maches your mood? like some one that feals amped up and listening to rock n roll or some one fealing happy and apperciative of live listening to sigur ros. is that what you mean by connect?

  • Song reminds me of my cousin! He was a American Hero

  • Health.com "10 Most Depressing States in the U.S." article brought me here. Who the hell makes this the state official song....

  • @Gooseman241

You do, ahem, 'realize' this song is the polar opposite of depressing? The 'Lips are simply saying that life is short, so live it, and love generously.

  • Is steve burns still in this band? Either way this song is amazing, it sends chills don my spine

  • vv FYI This song is 100x better and more epic within the context of the album, and it's absolute ear-candy when you hear it high-quality, minus the youtube degradation

  • @wemorris1001 come at me bro

  • such a beautifully mortal song

  • Rape the replay button.

  • Do you realize that happiness makes you cry? Do you realize that everyone you know will someday die?

  • @CoN0R115 Off you fuck to another video, then.

  • my sister and I were with her at the end. We sent all the strangers away and stayed with her. I miss her forever.

  • I sat with my mom last night in her final hour of life and sang this song and "In The Morning of The Magicians" over and over in my head. Today I listened to various songs from you guys and cried my eyes out. This is my favorite song ever. Thanks for writing songs so deeply empathetic to the human condition that bring so much comfort. I let her know I realized. RIP mom <3

  • @PerditionPurged

I also lost my mother this year. It was beautiful. The sorrow lasts forever.

  • Lyrically, this is the greatest song ive ever heard.

  • this song made me wanna die, not in a bad way (is it really a bad way?).. made me wanna leave the body and travels to eternity

  • nanners

  • perfect for summer nights

  • To all out there who doubt what I say: I do realize, life can get busy sometimes and if one last goodbye was really needed then I probably didn't realize. Sorry to all who find this offensive.

  • Apparently there are people saying The Flaming Lips ripped off Smashing Pumpkins with this song. /:

  • @megandoesntlikeyou Do you know what Smashing Pumpkins song/songs that it's alleged to be plagiarized from?

  • @ryebreadstoasted I miss my grandma also... a lot. :( It's been a month today.

  • @ryebreadstoasted My Grandma is dying while I'm out of the country this year... this song also reminds me of the girl I love. Lost her when I joined the army.

  • @steelfright My Aunt (and surrogate mother) just got put into hospice. This song makes the process a little less painful. Sorry about your grandma. :(

  • I kill pink robots

  • adore this song completely.

  • nick diaZ

  • as i said to my mom before she died last week

  • ah, gmail and the status comments

and the fat and the brain

  • circuitry mind.

House of Secrets, Legends and (Lineage)(?)(I don't know think or place to fit something better.

  • There is nothing sad about this song at all. If it makes you sad, I guess you didn't realize...

  • @flangefur That's one way of looking at it. One thing sad about this song, especially when you have lost someone close to you, this song makes you realize now, what you should have realized then while that person was still around.

This song always kinda makes me sad, in an odd and different way. And in general this song makes me think about all of those times I lost sight of what was important and all of those special moments you never stop to think about just how special they really are.

  • ass.

  • do you realize theres 78 dislikers who are pink robots?

  • this song make me feel like... I dont know... something I cant describe!! ♥ I just love it!! :')

  • This song isn't sad.

  • @luvtehcomix Do you realize that happiness makes you cry. Do you realize that everyone, you know, someday, will die. Maybe it's not terrible surprising,. But those statements alone are gripping and sad.

  • @Nozem13 Oh sure, the song talks about death, but it's really more about life, and how we should cherish what time we have with the ones we love. That doesn't make me sad, it makes me happy and hopeful.

  • my favourite by them

  • ah I finally found this song! It was just a vague random memory, but after 20 min of arduous thinking, I finally found it! Best day of my life right now...

  • @casperg148 Yay, love when that happens!

  • I want to listen to this band, but every time I try to get into it, I just think it's hipster crap.

  • @Vladdyboy eh thats just stereotyping. just let go of all those petty labels and then you can just enjoy and understand music and life as it really is

  • @Vladdyboy the flaming lips as hipster crap?? lol...I would advise you to rewrite your definition of hipster crap because the flaming lips doesn't fit under that.

  • @Vladdyboy um this song is actually known by a lot of people. So I wouldn't call it hipster, because hipsters are more interested in music that not many people know about.

  • @casperg148 In my opinion a hipster is not someone who likes music that isn't commonly known it's someone with that pretentious attitude like "you've probably never heard of them" ect.

I have aloooot of bands on my computer that aren't known for jackshit, the main reason is because they don't play the regular kind of music. How often have you heard math rock being played on the radio? or on TV?

  • @Vladdyboy

The flaming lips aren't hipster at all.

They do too many psychedelic drugs.

  • LIsten to the reign of kindo cover

  • For those of you who listen to this music "just for the content of the song" and try to appreciate it solely because it is music, go get high. The Flaming Lips' music will take on a whole new meaning for you.

  • saw these guys at Blackwater this year on LSD for the first time.

    holy shit.

  • saw them live in telluride, colorado. when they played this i just...died. it was amazing

  • heartbreaking

  • so good...depressing...but so good.

  • Perfect song writting. i love this band.

has anyone heard of The Low Suns, they re a bit like the Flaming lips. they re song, Never Gonna Care is big in the far east, but no ones heard of them anywhere else....

    The Low Suns .......anyone?????

  • @roshambo1234567 I know The Low Suns! Discovered them a few days ago and they are so very good. I can't stop playing "So Tired". And you're right, they are a bit like The Flaming Lips. I don't think it will be too long before they get some much-deserved recognition in the music industry.

  • Spiritualized much better, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space is much better.

  • I only came here cause the lead singer was the guy from Blues Clues

  • my ex sed this song reminds me of him good thing i never understood it

  • @jetfueldrinker Sorry for your loss mate :(

I found this song really sadened me. I was so scared that time was passing by so fast. And I spend too much time at work to appreciate my time with my wife and kids as much as I'd like. And then I woke from a dream one night - and I realised - the sun doesn't go down, it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round. Our souls don't die - just our bodies... and death is just a sunset, before another sunrise.

I woke from that dream very happy :)

  • @Healberight That is if you believe in souls.

  • @snakeweirdo Are you gonna tell him he's wrong? regardless of what you call it, you can't prove it doesnt exist. Whether your a dualist, physicalist or idealist, its just a different way of looking at things. Follow your belief, its all you have

  • @Healberight let me know how the soul world is bro

    delusion is bliss, right

  • My God 29 years! You lucky blessed fucker. I am trully sorry she is gone. On a bright note, I believe she will be waiting on a cloud for you.

  • We are a blip in time

  • I want this song played at my funeral

  • Saw these guys last night in SLC! This song was the encore!! So god damn awesome!
