I appologize to you all guys fo my previous comments. I just wanted to express my appreciation for Freddie Green, but I've done that the way it should never be done, so again my deapest appology! I took that insane comment away to prevent any other negative reactions here.
@bigbandzusik Everyone is entitled to their opinion but this was a very asinine comment to make, obviously Will is getting the job done, he's held that chair since 1996.
@bigbandzusik: Matthews sounds fine, the problem is that he is mixed too loud in relation to the brass and saxes, and the rest of rhythm section. Green's playing was felt as much as heard, IMO.
@gailfinn Of course they are only just playing Basie music, a good version - but that's all. Basie just got something out of his musicians, to get that sound, precision, power and emotions - which only Basie at the helm could get. But I am happy that Bill Hughes is still leading a Basie music band
People just don't care for jazz like they used to. But I love it!!

videolover61: That was the first incarnation of the band I saw too.
I was 13 years old and they had come to play a concert at a local high school.
It changed my life FOREVER.
