I used to work building maintenance for the City of Raleigh and all their officers who carry Tasers are required to take training which includes being tasered. I was at the Police Academy one day and they were conducting training and I observed several officers getting tasered. I saw big guys get hit an they were on the ground and it really can take a big person down. They had one smaller guy to get tasered and he never went down but it definetly had him wreaking in agony. Very effective.

From watching the video, it seems that the officer had no other intent than so diffuse the situation safely. Unlike other police videos, this officer remains calm the entire time. This is a very good police officer. I believe he took the proper procedures on properly using the taser. I have seen videos of some officers to where their hands are just itching to grab the taser to tase the suspect. It's true that when words fail, then physical force must be taken. If the officer was less hesitant to use the taser in this video, it would have been fine too. However, this is an example of an officer who doesn't use the taser as a crutch and tries to avoid it if possible.

that's why I hate drunks...they should just ban alcohol...think of all the arrests and violent crimes from people that are drunk...listen to a police scanner sometime and get a real idea of how toxic alcohol is...it's insane

@magnumshifter They tried that in the 1920s and it failed miserably. Prohibition became a failure in North America and elsewhere, as bootlegging (rum-running) became widespread and organized crime took control of the distribution of alcohol.

@LeGette88 .... IDIOT. uc an find millions of videos in youtube showing use of tasers. It does paralyze the person only when he is being shcoked which is only a few seconds. When the shock stops there is NO paralyzing effect at all. so get your fucking facts first. The guy continuously did not do what the cop told him to do and got tasered again and again. . the guy could move well but couldnt control himself as he was drunk like shit. morons like u dont see this and blame everything on cops

@kimx0xx... then u r a total CUNT. what else the would the cop do? He TALKED and explained and the guy didnt listen and then resisted the arrest when it went physical. What else the cop would do? He had no other choice. Thatsa PERFECT example of an arrest and use of tase and shows in what cases tasers can be used as a last resort. but CUNTS like you can never get it.

I used to work building maintenance for the City of Raleigh and all their officers who carry Tasers are required to take training which includes being tasered. I was at the Police Academy one day and they were conducting training and I observed several officers getting tasered. I saw big guys get hit an they were on the ground and it really can take a big person down. They had one smaller guy to get tasered and he never went down but it definetly had him wreaking in agony. Very effective.

@kimx0xx He keeps going because the guy was combative and not listening to the officer's orders. He was told to stay on the ground and put his hands behind his back. He continued tring to get up. The officer had no choice for his safety. The only problem is this officer should have waited for his backup instead of holstering his Taser.

From watching the video, it seems that the officer had no other intent than so diffuse the situation safely. Unlike other police videos, this officer remains calm the entire time. At the end, when the officer tells the grounded suspect to put his hands behind his back and the suspect yells "I can't you fucking hammered me", the officer shows enough restraint to not taze him again.

@alexandro420 YOU ARE STUPID! The taser, according to OUR SUPREME COURT, is to ONLY be used in place of a gun when the officer's life is in immediate danger. It was not. This drunk was no threat to him. He could have used the pepper spray or called for assistace from another officer. The taser is DEADLY, you idiot. Cops are getting sued coast to coast and LOSING! This officer is the true criminal.

This is a very good police officer. I believe he took the proper procedures on properly using the taser. I have seen videos of some officers to where their hands are just itching to grab the taser to tase the suspect. It's true that when words fail, then physical force must be taken. If the officer was less hesitant to use the taser in this video, it would have been fine too. However, this is an example of an officer who doesn't use the taser as a crutch and tries to avoid it if possible.

The taser is only to be used in place of a gun. This STUPID officer was WRONG. If you don't believe me you need to learn to read and follow our country's SUPREME COURT rulings. Lock up this officer and throw away the key.
