The Golden globes did the best of the award shows in 09 i really didn't notice until i finally went back and watched them all. The reason why is because all were included that should have been included in an in memoriam tribute.... coughbea arthurcoughfarrah fawceet cough. Plus it was just beautifully done.
No, but at 1:48, the track changes, and it isn't a simple variation of the themes from "The Dreamer"... It still sounds like John Debney's style, though...
@RiverHigurashi. UTFan666 is right. Michael was involved in acting, not just in his Music Short Films (he did work with directors like Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola), but he had bit parts in movies as well (like Men In Black II).
I have to say, the applause grew much louder when his name and picture was shown on that screen! For that, it feels great to hear!
Thanks very much for that waste of an insult but as you can probably see I've already been told his merits. Theres no need to be an asshole when I was just making a curious comment.
i always get weepy at Natasha Richardson, Farrah Fawcett, Brittany Murphy, James Whitmore and Patrick Swayze's...
its sad alot of talented people died in 2009, and even more in 2010...
the sag in memoriam opened up with the beautiful Natasha Richardson saying, "how do i look?" and end with the saddest ending in a movie Patrick Swayze in "Ghost" walking into heaven... i weep at the end...
@ladybuggirl1982 Yes, he certainly was. I never saw him in much beyond "The Shawshank Redemption" and those lawn product commercials, but I love one man shows and my mom and I caught him at Ford's Theater in D.C. about 13-14 yrs ago. I've seen Richard Kiley, Hal Holbrook, Robert Morse (as Truman Capote), Ed Asner, Madeliene Kahn and David Cassidy as well. Wonderful memories!
@ladybuggirl1982 they made a great move by putting up that specific Ghost scene... i don't think anyone would have thought that at the end, he was actually going to walk on that direction... but instead of Demi Moore showing tears in the back, it would be us... T_T
Can anybody tell me why i like these kind of things? is it because I want to see who is dead, or is it beacuse i want to go back to when i was younger and a lot of these people played a major part in entertaining me and inspiring me? R.I.P.
its not rocket science and should be an easy fix for the Oscars, simply DON'T have a live performance. A slideshow like this with music is the way to go. Live performers actually take attention away from the people
I think bea wins the award for the most missed! I was really disappointed with the oscar memorial.. but i think that the sag was pretty good.. two of our four golden girls were honored.. bea had a tribute .. and betty got a statuette.
@endora721 I miss Bea Arthur so much.. I'm a huge fan of The Golden Girls and she's my favourite. I know the Academy is supposed to just honour those who had an impact on film, but still...I was kind of sad she wasn't included... And I miss Estelle Getty too. They're both amazing...
I know how you feel. Whenever I catch a re-run of The Golden Girls its almost haunting to think that they're gone because you see them there. That's my favorite thing about Film and Television, you can always go back and see people even after they're gone.
i think the melody is something from Dreamer - Inspired by a true story by John Debney If somebody find it, please sent me link. I have problem to find that :-) thx and sorry for my english
In every "In Memoriam" clip I've seen(this, the Tony awards and the Emmy awards) Bea Arthur always seems to get one of if not the biggest applause. And the reason for that is because she was...Bea Arthur.
Farah's message from the other side to the Academy: 'so, I was forgotten. What is your excuse? Too many artists kicked the bucket? many having verbal diarrhoea thanking the world for that useless statuette? many having an ego trip? Never mind. My only confort is to know that they will all follow me with the only difference that they will go to hell!!'.
Of all the lines they could have used, who in God's name chose "You're a virgin who can't drive"!? Seriously, the person who chose that line deserves a slap on the face.
Forever on film , god bless them all x
