Schumacher will never be a myth as Senna, Prost, Mansell, vileneve! It is the shame of F1 after 1994! F1 will never be !!!!!!!!!!!!!! died after 1994! this is fact!
It was an extremely good point well made by Michael. Just look at what happened at McLaren with Prost V Senna and later Alonso V Hamilton. Clearly there has to be a fine line with team orders but you can easily see that without team orders, you have drivers - grown men - acting like insolent babies. Even still though, it's a tough call and a tough sell.
Schumacher could have 30000 world champion, it won't change the fact that he was only 0.2 faster than Rubinho while having all the support of the team ! He would never be great at Senna, and not even great as Gilles Villeneuve for instance.
@GTAGIS Senna was great but he had the super car in those years( mclaren honda power),Schumacher won without having always a super car, also many times he won with strategy and cleaverness, this is story.
@fuster77 This is not history, this is you simple understanding. Senna had only the best car in 1988 & 89. Schum did have it many more. And most of the rest, he had a very good car. Also Senna who was known by all the F1 world years before ( from F-Ford) began in a poor Toleman despite having being tested by Williams, Mclaren, Brabham (& finaly Toleman). Schum who was known by none but Mercedes/Sauber began with Jordan who was for instance battling against McLaren at Mexico in 91 !
yeahh haha funny how things are. Now that he has a team divided at mecedes nico is easily faster than him. at ferrari it was diferent even rubens was working for him
Some people can not realize that Alonso is not 100% guilty, i would say 10% because it was Ferrari that gave the order to Massa let pass Alonso. I'm not fan of Alonso or Ferrari fan either, im fan of Formula 1 and this day was a damn shame.. the money rules everything, and that's the biggest shame of them all.
Sorry, people may not like it, i dont like it, fans dont like it, but thats just way it is, schumi is right on the money, that decision did make a big difference, Alonso would have been effectively out of the championship in Abu Dhabi if it wasnt for this. I dont like Alonso, im pleased he didnt win, but i still understand the decision Ferrari made to protect their championship intrests, thats the way sport is...
@Phoenix1664 The funny thing is, I have some old videos from 92 laying around and in those you can clearly hear Hunt and Walker discussing team orders between Patresse and Mansell and Berger and Senna and they talked about it just like they would talk about any strategy. And nobody complained back then. It was only when the media gave it a bad name and the FIA "banned" it that people thought it was cheating. Its a team effort and like MS said there is one target.
..at the end of the day it was a team order ! So it was illegal. So against the laws and wrong. Simple !!!
This actions are not about the championship. It´s about the MONEY and NOT about the love for the motorsport anymore. Too sad that some don´t wreckognize that.
@JackREst My thought's exactly. Glad team orders have been legalized for this season. There's no sense in hiding a formality that we all know exists. Well, most of us anyways....;)
i am brazilian and a massa supporter, but i agree with schumacher too. people are so emotional it's silly, this is a team sport and the target is the championship. simple as this.
It is in fact a team sport regardless of the criticism, and in the end everyone knows who really won a race in fact I believe it makes the race more rememberable, I mean who will forget the austria 2001 race it sucks that MS won like that but everybody remembers the real winner. But so much effort and resources go into a championship that I have to agree with him.
@pmanngw U are so full of shit, tainted like Kimi's title in 07 i mean WTF are u talking about. Look Hamilton's song and dance about never wanting team orders is just more bullshit into fooling u pommie gullibles into loving his supposed fake (genuine side) even more. Look at what Michael has achieved and then look at Rubens. Look at what Alonso has achieved and then look at Massa. Your supposedly politically correct pommie team i.e. Mclaren will give a driver orders to move over if it means the
I disagree with Schumacher here and agree with Hamilton 100% - what joy is there in a title that was handed to you on a plate? If you miss out on the title by 1 point because you didn't do team orders, so what? It would have just meant that your championship was tainted like Raikonnen's in 2007. Hamilton wants to win the proper way - by beating the best drivers. He gets no joy from winning because someone let him win. Alonso however does not care how he wins (e.g. Germany 2010, Singaport 2008).
@ayrtonsenna1960 Nonsense - did Massa also gift him the place 2 laps after that? What about Piquet a couple of laps later?? They were both faster that Kovalianen at the time!
@pmanngw Yes he was faster than Heikki but watch the replay there is no defence of his position Hamilton was let passed. Team orders end of. No matter what sport that has teams will always have team orders.
@ayrtonsenna1960 No, not 'end of.' There is a big difference between not defending hard against a faster teammate and slowing down to let them past, don't be moronic. Massa successfully defended against Alonso, but had to slow down to let him past. Barichello in Austria 2002 had held Micheal off, but slowed down to let him past. Not risking taking both you and your teammate out when faced by being overtaken by the most aggressive driver in F1 is very different.
other wins the title. That would happen any day of the week, like Mclaren in the same situation as Ferrari in Brazil 07 would do it differently because pommies are so morally superior, go stick it up your man cunt. My god u pommies are reaching the point where your love for Hamilton is turning blind much the same as religious fanatics overdo their love for Jesus or Allah, get a grip pls.
NO U DICKHEAD U THERE TO FUCKEN RACE THE FANS WANT TO WATCH A RACE.WHO CARES ABOUT CHAMPIONCHIP POINTS.WHO CARES IF A DRIVER DOESNT WINS FOR 1 OR 2 POINTS,SO BECAUSE U WANT TO GET THAT EXTRA POINTS U THINCK ITS FARE THAT THE TEAM M8 LETS YOU OVERTAKE THATS FUCKEN DISGUSTING.I MISSE THE "RACING" BETWEEN AYRTON SENNA AND ALAN PROST AND THEY WERE TEAM MATES.SHUMACHER YOU JUST A DOUCHE BAG!!!
Good sounding argument, but if the individual driver can't win the Championship on their own, without help from someone taking a fall, then do they deserve to be #1?
I see where Schuey's coming from, but the person I was shocked to see backing team orders was DC. Coultard was one ex-driver that was always bitching & moaning about Mclaren and team orders, even to the point he was indriectly implying Mclaren kind of ruined his chances of winning oe races. Hilarious watching the same driver now in support of it.
They all do it SO STOP blowing it out of proportion... the fia should scrap the rule as it has NO place in f1... its a team game.... and the driver leading the other by aload of points half way through the season has earned the right to have the whole team behinds him... if it was for 7th you wont be bitching about it... it happens... it will always happen... and it should happen. NO BIG DEAL
(I just wish it was the other way round as i love Massa and hate Alonso)
I understand this is Tactically seen the best choice for ferrari. But if this you would win a championship this way, would you feel like you earned it?
Here we go knocking Schumacher about cheating. All the teams will cheat if they think they can get away with it.As for team orders listen to what David Coulthard said
The only way for this not to happen is for both drivers in a team to get the same amount of points throughout the season. Once we are this far into the season, team orders are understandable. It's a million dollar industry. It's kind of funny to cry foul here when there are teams who have clear monetary and technical advantages. Would you call McLaren cheaters because they have better cars than Force India?
@SPeitsch You are right: It's a million dollar industry. But why? Because of the fans! We are the customers and we are complaining! This kind of action is very bad to this same industry. I am a fan and I dont want to watch f1 races anymore. And I can tell you, here in Brazil, lots of fans are doing the same. And most of them are watching F Indy, instead, where theres real competition between teammates.
i hate team orders. this is just not fare..! If mclaren and red bull were doing the same thing, they will be much further ahead. This is just corrupt. fuck!
used to love this guy but now im SPEECHLESS ,according to him massa should start blocking or even start crashing into the other championship contenders so alonso can win the championship, its in the best interest of the team, hope massa rapes alonso in the coming races
i can understand ferrari's position IF massa had no chance at the championship, but in the old points system, i think mike gascoyne or christian horner said massa was 8 points behind alonso!? that's nothing! ferrari cheated and they bowed down to a whiny Spanish c*nt (no offense to Spanish people, just referring to alonso) who can't handle his supposedly number 2 teammate beating him
Schumacher does make a good point. However, this team order sh*t should never be applied before the other driver is mathematically out of the hunt, nor should it ever be done so plain obviously.
They did it wrong! Alonso were already faster, just put Massa on a fuel saving mode and tell him to save fuel and then Alonso would pass quite easy and THEN throw Alonso on the same fuel saveing setting for the some time and put both back to normal. I don't think FIA could do anything about it then.
What i don't like here is how Ferrari thinks that the fans are fools.
Did Alonso not help secure Massa the lead at the first corner at the start of race ? So is teamwork always cheating ? Massa would have not had a lead if not for Alonso and Sabastian engaging each other yes/no

Did Alonso not help secure Massa the lead at the first corner at the start of race ? So is teamwork always cheating ? Massa would have not had a lead if not for Alonso and Sabastian engaging each other yes/no
well... if at the end of the championship, you realize you lost because of that point, then you need to be mindful that in several races you were not the best, therefore you don't have enough points to be the number 1. It is a sad day to the sport. This is a big middle finger to the fans.
The cue was when Rob Smedley said on the radio to Massa "Fernando is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?" and then after that Massa let Fernando by completely without a fight. Then Rob came on the radio and said "Okay. Good lad. Just stick with him now. Sorry." apologizing to him about having to let Fernando by.
F*ck you Stefano Domenicali, you lying sack of sh*t, trying to act like nothing happened when it is so obvious.
Not dissimilar toRed Bull taking Webbers front wing to give it to Vettell at Silverstone if you think about it, it's all about what's best for the team, not the sport these days, PATHETIC!
- they are Team players - the Team is to be together and help each other;
- everyone does so - but not so directly - they immitate real overtaking, or try other way
- Alonso was faster than Massa, and if he was trying to overtake Massa, and some accident happened, everyone would criticise that - because they would lose their positions, and the Team would lose - so I think Alonso wasn't aggressive only because Massa was in his Team
2000, 01, 02, 03 and 04 - Schumacher won 5 of his 7 titles with the best car and teammates that have orders to let him win. Poor Barrichello, does anybody forget Austria 2002?
Senna won 88 and was robbed in 89 with Prost as teammate. There was not that kind of orders. In 90 he won against an almost equivalent ferrari and 91 he won against a much better williams.
Still, Senna was the biggest cheat in F1 history. No denying that. You can swing it whatever way you like, but 1989/1990 collisions were clearly acts of desperation from Senna, not to mention numerous other incidents.
@schuf1 hang on, wasn't 1989 as i remember all alain prost's fault? senna did it on purpose for sure in 1990 but don't make it seem like alain was all high and mighty, even if it was unintentional. unfortunately cheating happens in f1 and it's those guys that'll do anything to win like senna, schumacher and alonso, although i reckon senna would not have whined to the team to get his teammate to let him through, he'd have gone through himself
Well, the British commentators sure blamed Senna for 1989. I'm not taking any sides, as I know people like to think Prost turned in on Senna. In my opinion he didn't. He simply breaked earlier and there was no friggin' chance Senna was ever going to overtake from that far back. But I'm bored of it, as it's been discussed to death...
Anyway, funny how much controversy Alonso has caused (and in 3 different teams!) in such a short time.
@schuf1 fair enough. everyone's entitled to their opinion. ironically, i'm british. but yea, controversy seems to follow fernando alonso but it's his fault (although i'm not sure on the renault one). it seems that he thinks he's number one in every team he goes to and renault was actually the only case in which that was true. shame f1's like that but it always has been and always will be
The point is to race hard and behave in an honorable manner. "How you play the game" is FAR more important that your sociopathic "Win at all costs" view.
He is right. Formula 1 drivers are sportspeople but above all they´re also workers and they have to obey orders and do whatever is necessary for the company, in this case the ferrari team. So it wasn´t an absurd action at all
Schumacher is seven times f 1 world champion, but i can't see him as a champion for me, he used to be master in this kind manuevers when barrichello used to let him pass, f 1 today is a shame, i used to weak up every morning to see senna, mansell, prost, piquet, berger, now i have to watch this kind crap, antdeportive like today, f 1 will never be as used to be before..
I slept in that part cause in my country it's at Sunday 7am, but just paste in the direction of youtube and you'll watch the repetition, And hurry up cause they delete them

Now they do this on a existing rule? get the fuck out of here, this STINKS.

used to love this guy but now im SPEECHLESS ,according to him massa should start blocking or even start crashing into the other championship contenders so alonso can win the championship, its in the best interest of the team, hope massa rapes alonso in the coming races
MrMalithebest 1 year ago
i can understand ferrari's position IF massa had no chance at the championship, but in the old points system, i think mike gascoyne or christian horner said massa was 8 points behind alonso!? that's nothing! ferrari cheated and they bowed down to a whiny Spanish c*nt (no offense to Spanish people, just referring to alonso) who can't handle his supposedly number 2 teammate beating him
SCD999 1 year ago
I agree Schumacher!
astra606 1 year ago 34
Schumacher does make a good point. However, this team order sh*t should never be applied before the other driver is mathematically out of the hunt, nor should it ever be done so plain obviously.
So a wrong move on Ferraris side.
schuf1 1 year ago 2
They did it wrong! Alonso were already faster, just put Massa on a fuel saving mode and tell him to save fuel and then Alonso would pass quite easy and THEN throw Alonso on the same fuel saveing setting for the some time and put both back to normal. I don't think FIA could do anything about it then.
What i don't like here is how Ferrari thinks that the fans are fools.

Did Alonso not help secure Massa the lead at the first corner at the start of race ? So is teamwork always cheating ? Massa would have not had a lead if not for Alonso and Sabastian engaging each other yes/no

well... if at the end of the championship, you realize you lost because of that point, then you need to be mindful that in several races you were not the best, therefore you don't have enough points to be the number 1.

Orders are order and you must obey them. Other question if those orders were right or not in that kind of situation....
Skinas26 1 year ago
It is normal because:
- they are Team players - the Team is to be together and help each other;
- everyone does so - but not so directly - they immitate real overtaking, or try other way
- Alonso was faster than Massa, and if he was trying to overtake Massa, and some accident happened, everyone would criticise that - because they would lose their positions, and the Team would lose - so I think Alonso wasn't aggressive only because Massa was in his Team

TimSkoldJ11 1 year ago
@TimSkoldJ11 Please dont compare him to Senna.
Schumacher and his Ferrari killed Formula 1!
tgbdc 1 year ago
@tgbdc
Still, Senna was the biggest cheat in F1 history. No denying that. You can swing it whatever way you like, but 1989/1990 collisions were clearly acts of desperation from Senna, not to mention numerous other incidents.
schuf1 1 year ago
@schuf1 hang on, wasn't 1989 as i remember all alain prost's fault? senna did it on purpose for sure in 1990 but don't make it seem like alain was all high and mighty, even if it was unintentional. unfortunately cheating happens in f1 and it's those guys that'll do anything to win like senna, schumacher and alonso, although i reckon senna would not have whined to the team to get his teammate to let him through, he'd have gone through himself
SCD999 1 year ago
@SCD999
Anyway, funny how much controversy Alonso has caused (and in 3 different teams!) in such a short time.
schuf1 1 year ago
@schuf1 fair enough. everyone's entitled to their opinion. ironically, i'm british. but yea, controversy seems to follow fernando alonso but it's his fault (although i'm not sure on the renault one). it seems that he thinks he's number one in every team he goes to and renault was actually the only case in which that was true. shame f1's like that but it always has been and always will be

Let me add this: Having the most point at the end of the year does NOT make you a "Champion."
Champions don't cheat, and they don't order their lap-dog team mates to roll over and play dead.

The point is to race hard and behave in an honorable manner. "How you play the game" is FAR more important that your sociopathic "Win at all costs" view.
