You should thank your country that you have politicians like John McCain and George Bush who will politely but firmly point the way out when you dig yourselves into an early grave by electing idiots like Obama. In the meantime, say goodbye to billions of dollars in taxpayers money as Obama tries to appease every third world country on the planet through the United Nations which is just a thinly veiled stick up artist disguised as an institution of government.
Obama is a socialist muslim whose influence on the world will be next to nil once they realize that he is a puppet of casino bankers and not the messiah.
It only took Disney 27 years (!) to finally update this 15 minute Circlevision film which has played at the Canada pavillion at Epcot continuously since 1981. Nice to see our theme park dollars at work.
so i say a movie is not poking fun at canadians but rather americans in a comedy fashion and u call me a leftist liberal ok buddy for one u must not know what that means and two Id raather have OBAMA than some stupid ass hick whiote trash fucker ruining the world
This was an awesome movie, I was so proud to be Canadian after seeing this. The song was awesome, I hope Eva Avila sings this at the opening ceremonies of Vancouver 2010!
Why get friggin Martin Short to bang on about how good Canada is an how much we should all go and visit, when he lives in the United States himself? Let's be honest, Canada has one of the worst brain drains in the entire world. Anyone who gets famous or a little bit of cash tends to move out of the place as soon as they can.
That's why I think Crosisborg and others like him are idiots. If you're going to piss an whine about how much you miss it, you shouldn't have left in the first place!
Yeah and where do you think he spends most of his time? He became a naturalised citizen of the US. He probably only goes back to Canada for the odd holiday / wedding / funeral.
I don't know why people are giving me negativity, I'm in defense of Canada, not against it - at least get someone who has dedicated their life to place to do something like this, who's proud to still be living there *permanently* despite their fame and fortune. Let's face it, Short upped and out as soon as he got his bit.
If by advocates and achievers, you mean celebrities? Then yes, they do, that's only because the American film industry has created a near, hemisphere-wide monopoly on film entertainment. They come here because they can't further their careers in Canada unfortunately so.
With all due respect to William Shatner, Rush, The Kids in the Hall, Backbacon, Vinnie LeCavalier and all the other GOOD things Canada has given us.....
This is a steaming pile of dog manure!
I makes me want to run SCREAMING to Ciudad Juarez.... especially the lame Celine-esque song at the end.
Wow! Again, many of the clips are from the old movie, so you are all wrong about it being 'updated'. They did update the Calgary and Toronto parts a bit, the the Mountie part is the old opening to the last movie. Again the same.
The Bluenose clip is the same, AND WITHOUT THE STAN ROGERS VERSION OF THE SONG!?!? You have to be kidding me!
Get rid of Martin Short and the movie might be better.
It makes me want to visit other parts of Canada! This was great and I am glad others will get to enjoy the beauty of Canada from watching this. Thanks~
This is a great promotion for Canada in such a high tourist attraction like Epcot. Good on the Tourism company in Canada for promoting our great land. . but the ending was right . u have to be hear to really experience it all . i suggest a train ride across the country on via rail .. i heard those rides were amazing.
I love this new version. It actually shows Canada for what she really is! Martin is great in it and I love that it's funny. If they put more information in it people would get really bored and then where would we be? Hooray for no more afro's!! :D
@CarribbeanLady is your religion, disney? if it is, are you not up to speed with its new media culture - as allowed by its charter from Washington, DC. Disney has a charter like that of a church, 501c: as allowed to what it can preach; before 1938, before ww1, i as a preacher could say: look at all these towers of babel, google it.
Google "1938" "501c charter" "what america stole from canada and the world by 1938" "
The old fim was dated, yes. A new updated and more modern film could have been made following the recipe for success the old film had. Disney is on a kick to get validated by celebrities and sometimes it doesn't work out. This is one of those times. Its still good and still makes my eyes watery when I see it (makes me terribly homesick) but just not as much as the old film.
But that's what Disney does. They're an entertainment company, so they have to use celebrities like Hilary Duff and Miley Cyrus in all their products and services. At least with respect to Canada, Disney was doing something right by updating it to show what Canada truly is to American tourists who know little. I remember in 2000 when the RCMP pulled out of a 5 year deal with Disney because of commercial licensing with the red uniforms.
bldjr7 sounds like a real ass. I don't like the new O'Canada either. I don't like Martin Short. They should put him on The Last Comic Standing and bring out the long cane. Redo the movie the way it was, just go to different locations. Canada did a fantastic job on the first one.
@bearintheair75 uh Disney did the old one without sponsors, now the economy is for sale, and Disney got its new sponsors, f#@% blu ray, F#@% disney, go to a national park and real amusement parks
Inferiority complex? Have you looked in the mirror lately? You act as if you're running for President. These are comments about A MOVIE and you're getting all defensive and calling people names because they don't agree with your feelings? God, GET A LIFE. As for the "lefist hippie faggot" comment, all I can do is LAUGH. You're pathetic. Do get a life. Or better yet, find a nice dark spot somewhere in Canada and fall in.
I agree. The original was all about the beauty of Canada and made me want to go there pretty badly. This just makes me want to run away from Martin Short as quickly as possible. They ruined this with him, and ruined Journey Into Imagination with that dude from Monty Python...what's Epcot coming to?!?
Why are Americans "dumb asses" simply because they like something that wasn't broken to begin with? Canada is a beautiful country. The original movie was fine the way it was. So it's 25 years old. Ok, lets update the video and take us to other places - PEI, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, to name a few. Adding Martin Short is NOT the update people are looking for. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
The movie is supposed to be informational. Sure there were a lot of places like Nunavut or Saskatchewan that were not shown. This is only just a taste of Canada. If they want the rest of Canada, they're gonna have to discover it for themselves.
Canada is beautiful. Been there many times. I simply don't like what they've done to this new movie by adding Martin Short. The rest of it is fine. I just miss the Blue Nose ballad and the way the original end song was presented. It has nothing to do with being "stuck in the 70s" or not wanting updates. I'm all for it. I just don't see the need to add Martin Short and his slapstick commedy. There is nothing "informational" about it. If anything, it makes you want to leave the venue.
Clearly you haven't seen him on SCTV with the late John Candy, Rick Moranis, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty, Harold Ramis, Catherine O'Hara, and Eugene Levy. Before Martin was on SNL, he was on SCTV here in Canada on CBC running from 1976 to 1984. Martin was inducted to Canada's Walk of Fame in 2000, and as part of SCTV in 2002.
Clearly, this venue isn't about Martin Short and his life achievements, and I have seen his work many times. What he has accomplished as an actor and commedian has NOTHING to do with him being in O Canada. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't make my comments wrong. You like him in this and I don't - Perod. End of story.
Why are Americans "dumb asses" simply because they like something that wasn't broken to begin with? Canada is a beautiful country. The original movie was fine the way it was. So it's 25 years old. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
I'm from Canada and much of the information in the original movie is so outdated. For 3 or 4 decades Canada has changed drastically when it comes to history, geography, sports, entertainment, arts, and culture. We're not always about Anne Murray and Gordon Lightfoot. Without Canada, you wouldn't have the music, tv, and film industries.
Since the orginal film was done in 1970s, Canada has survived 6 elections, 2 scandals, 2 referendums on Quebec separation, the Meech Lake Accord, the Charlottown Accord, the Oka Crisis, the FLQ crisis, a recession, floods in the prairies, dozens of snowstorms, the War in Afghanistan, several peacekeeping missions in Rwanda and Kosovo, and the formation of Nunavut. Not to mention our dollar is close to parity to US.
They have RUINED this venue. The original was much better. Martin Short tries TOO HARD in this version. I would rather have the music and film and have him keep his mouth shut. I also miss Blue Nose.
What difference does it make if I am American or not? The show is about Canada, NOT Martin Short. He ruins the entire movie with his stupid antics and attempts to be funny. The venue is "O Canada" not "O Martin Short." The original is much better - music, pictures, everything....PERIOD!
i dont like the martin short but maybe if u remeber the orig it showed us living in igloos and riding dog sleds it did not show any citys or the people that live here it made us look like hicks
This is the premeire of the new Canada film.. and listen to the audience reaction. They are bored stiff. When it ends, there are just 3 people clapping for 5 seconds. They could fit a show like the Country Bear Jamboree or the Kraft Kitchen or lots of better things in the same space.
I don't like being negative... but Martin sounds like he's reading a kid's social studies essay in most of this. Again being negative... I don't think many people enjoy the 360 EPCOT movies where they are standing on their feet for 20 minutes. Short kids are frustrated because they don't even get a good view of the screens. Standing to watch something means that the short people suffer. People are closer to the same elevation when sitting.
I like this one better...plus, whoever said "no one will no who Martin Short is in five years," he already has been around for quite a bit (1970s/1980s). It'll be fine.
I figured. My friends said they had seen the Canada film a few years back, and that they remember at the beginning how the Mounted Police rode around the entire screen. It was the same when I saw it.
*Culmination of a dream for all the travelers.* Canada (Canada), My Canada (mon Canada). Sur ta lingne de vie se tracent les miracles de la terre. *On your life line trace themselves the earth miracles.* Canada comme une odyssée à travers les temps. *Canada as an odyssey through the times.* Tu es la fleur et la semence. *You are the flower and the seed.* Canada. Tes montagnes tes villes et tes mers *Your mountains, your cities and your seas* Sont tout ce que j'aime. *Are all that I like.*
The new show does not show the beauty of Canada as well as the old one but it was time for a change. I like the new singer's version of the theme. I still go to this exhibit even if I have to park hop just to see it. It makes me homesick.
Noooooooooo!!! Are you telling me I couldn't watch O Canada! last time I went, just so Disney could install Martin Short and a crappy new theme song. Between him and Steve Martin taking over Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln over here at Disneyland, I fear for what might happen to Spaceship Earth. Will Chevy Chase be hosting that?
Do your research before commenting. Martin Short is from Hamilton, Ontario. And that "crappy new theme song" was the remake of the old song from the orginal movie sung by Eva Avila from Canadian Idol.
You know you better watch what say. I just happen to know a friend from Westdale High where Martin used to go to school in my hometown. I'll tell 'em you said that.
martin short 360... I like the new scenes showing a more update canada. but there should have been more canada and less martin short. It has been over 25 years since they updated this film, and in 5 years no one will know who martin short is. I presented the old movie a million times last year and i kinda liked it better. Goodjob on presenting the new movie Greg
Now that's how we're supposed to be represented! A lot of things have changed since 1979. I loved it when he mentioned Hamilton, Ontario. That's where I'm from.
See this video and more at the tour-of-epcot website. There are loaded of pictures and videos about Epcot at this website.

The theme song's not new, it's the exact same one, just re-recorded.

But it isn't the original one - the original one is FAR better.

What's up with the hair cut? I liked Marty with the shaggy hair! :(

didn't we all? XD
I like the update, and even though I'm a fan of Martin Short, I agree that there is too much Marty and not enough Canada.

martin short 360...
