  • montagical! Thank you very much for the great help. It worked good for me. Thanks to you i now can see both video and audio. So just wanted to say thank you! :D

  • I just used the bottom two links and it fixed it! :D Thank you so much!!

  • @FuzzyRedPants Well, it kind of worked... it wouldn't really play back, so I tried to download the other two links as well. I installed the second link before the first one, and the first one just uninstalled the second one. Unfortunately, the file is still fairly unusable, so I'll have to look for another method.

  • You can try this way, or you can just convert the AVI files to WMV

  • OK I fixed my problem by installing the x64 version of k-lite codec pack on top of the "full" pack that I had before.

  • I can't find that list of codecs in device manager in Windows 7. It must have been moved somewhere else... why do they always mess with this stuff? :/

  • Do you know how to fix MP4s by any chance? I swear I have all the codecs installed, this has been bugging me for months :/

  • HAHA

    IT WORKS

    PRAISE GODZILLA

  • The Mjpeg one worked for me, but it says it's a demo... thanks though

  • Okay so. My problem;

    .avi has worked perfectly in my SV8. Always. Then I made the mistake of installing SV11 and poof, .avi dies in both. I uninstalled and deleted SV11, mainly cuz it sucked and ruined my .avi. x.x;

Then I installed all that (I already had CCCP & K-Lite), and now my DVD rips work (.avi), but my converted .avi files still show only audio....

  • thx a damn alot dude :D solved my problem x)

  • thanks soo much!!! worked like a charm!!! don't have to convert wohooo!!! you just earned a sub! also i just downloaded all codec links in the description

  • if u have an NVIDIA graphics card, update to the "beta" drivers 290.53 <<<< worked for me

  • work in vista??

  • IT WORKS!!! :O :O

thanks soo much dude!, means I no longer have to convert them to MWV losing epic amounts of quality :)

  • MJPEG Codec MAKE IT WORK!

    THX!

  • works for vegas 7 ?

  • it worked with Div-x!!! Thank you!! :)

  • Did not work, I installed all the codecs above and nothing.

  • Thanks a lot, solved my problem.

  • It did not work for me!

  • When I record a video with frapps and play it in Sony Vegas home studio pro 10 I get an error and it just says Sony Vegas has stopped working. I can't playback the video because the preview window turns red. I also can't render/save/upload any of the frapps recorded parts. It just stops rendering when it gets to it. If anyone has a solution or theory I'd gladly read it. This video has been in the making for over a year and I'd hate to lose it

  • tyvm dude

  • I cant see the CODECS in Device manager, and i allredy download everythink

  • i only see video can u help?

  • What about mkv files? Is there a solution to open them in Vegas? Cuz they won't even SHOW up in the explorer when I want to use them. I end up converting videos to WMV to get it to work...

  • @inustorm Vegas can't work with mkv's. You'll have to get another program, or you can try to convert the file into something Vegas can work with.

  • OMG it works!! Thank you sooo much!! :)

  • so i just have to download all these links your have in the description`??

  • just installed all 4 codecs and it worked fine! thanks man

  • THANK YOU A LOT! You saved me! ^.^ thanks

  • Maybe late but It Worked, Thank You

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • This didn't work for me, but I did find out what did. The AVI file I was trying to use in Sony on a brand new laptop was recorded with Fraps. After trying several codecs and never getting the video to play properly in any program (only audio, or just an error message about directshow filters), I deleted them all and just downloaded Fraps (not sure what made me think of that but I'm glad I did). Now the files play in Win Movie Maker, Sony, and Win Media Player. Hope this helps anyone else.

  • You can just convert the file from .AVI to WMV

  • IT WORKS I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Window 7. Sony Vegas 10. I don't have any video codec except "RealTek High Definition Audio."

  • Marvellous! Thanks a lot.

  • Thank you! It worked! At least for the .avi files I wanted to use, I am not 100% sure if it worked on everyone but it still helped!

  • THX bra :)

  • your videos have helped me so much ! always ! :) I just sent XViD and voila ! :)

  • Great! Thank you very much!

  • I can't see video codec under the tag sound, video and game controller :(

  • I downloaded the MJPEG Codec and the "XviD codec v1.3.2 NEW" + "DivX codec v8.0 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7)"

Now I can get both video and sound on 2/5 .avi-files. The rest is still just audio. Any idea how to fix?

  • i downloaded 2 files and still cant import avi

  • go google enter overdrivetechgrp

search Xvid64 1.3.0 download it and install

    works for windows7 64bit / vista i not tested

now all avi files can be imported to sony vegas with video and audio

  • @AlienCodec Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!! You too Montagical!!

  • Under "Sound, Video and game controllers" (2:17) I don't have "Videocodecs" although I installed everything! I can not see audio nor video -.- It really sucks.

  • HMm I'll give this a try... My videos intermittently render. When I play with vegas too much, random videos will be black [even after rendering the whole movie]. When I right-click on a video, and choose Open in Trimmer, the video will refresh and render in the final output. After playing around in Vegas again - BACK TO BLACK!! I'm going to try rendering all of my source AVI's through a codec... Maybe the source files from my camera are glitchy.

  • DUUUUDEEEE, thanks a lot! i've been years without knowing how ti fix this! i knew it was some codec issue but didnt find out how to fix it :P

Now i can make AMV's and other videos about movies that i couldnt do before!

I cant tell you how much i love you :3 thanks a lot!

  • excelent!!! thanks man!

  • You're cool man!! Keep on it!

  • 2nd link is down!!!! D: help!!!!!

  • it works for me.... thx alot :DD

  • it worked...somehow k-lite worked once and not again LOL

  • now my sound is away :O

  • You're a bloody hero, man. Thanks!

  • I have a problem. I have 5 *.avi videos (my Crysis 2 gameplay, split on 5 files by Fraps), each is 3,95GB weight; and Sony Vegas stops responding only when I click on 3rd video.

When I tried to import all 5 videos in 1 project, I imported 2 first videos and it worked fine, but when I clicked on that 3rd video, it stopped responding...

I thought it's because it's too big (3x3,95GB), so I restarted program, and tried to import only that 3rd video but same happened, it stopped responding. :(

  • doesn't work

  • It didnt work for me. I tried both, and still having the problem. Though it plays some avi files and not the other avi's?

  • I've been to properties in My Computer but in the Hardware section it only had the Audio stuff, there wasn't one thing about codec or even video AT ALL. I'm downloading both of the links now after I searched for the Morgan video coced. Nothing.. Really good video tho but I hope after installing the Xvid codec it will work.. I used to have K-lite but after a several times it started failing but when I reopend it worked again. How come?
