ASCII Media Works announced that the third season, titled Shakugan no Shana Final will air on October 7, 2011 in the July 2011 issue of their Dengeki Bunko Magazine.
I found that in Wikipedia :D I can't wait for the third season! This is so freaking AWESOME!

And one more thing, I still feel that the character drawings of shana is kinda young, I mean the first time till now, for me drawing and looking at the designs of characters, gives me a middle school story feeling, like I mean the characters look like middle schoolers, even though it said that it is a high school story, for ex. such as for the eyes being "too twinckly", and the shape on the faces are sort of round rounder than normal manga character. but whatever, so I dont know, just my opinon
It's sad because if the anime follows the novel then Yuji is going to combine with Snake then become's shana's enemy, there are reasons but i don't want to spoil it.
The only thing is that Yuji is forgotten like if he didn't have a torch thought Shana misses Yuji so she goes back to the misaki city then she encountered him on the bridge.(Watch the OVA)
There the drama begin's in a sad way....
By the way Yuji's appearance changed if it follows the novel.
@GamerFanE102 That's correct and incorrect at the same time. True that Yuji combines with the Snake of the Festival, but in doing so, from my translation of the novels (Which is moderate), he becomes a Tomogara. Yuji isn't necessarily forgotten, BUT there are some people that don't remember him anymore due to "his existence being wiped". The OVA only shows the sneak peak of what will happen in Season 3. So that theory isn't 100% proven. And you're correct about Yuji's appearance changing.

OMG new season hell yeah! i have been waiting for this and it's about time. this anime is in my top five favorite animes right next to bleach i expect great things from this new season. and if it sucks (which it better not if those people know what's good for them) someone is getting thier asses sued (that's not a threat it's a promise)
Finally! This is the only incomplete Anime out of the 'Big Super-Similiar Three' (As I call it) (Zero no Tsukaima, Shakugan no Shanga, and Toradora!, due to the fact that Shana, Taiga, and Louise are exactly the same.)
So I can't wait for this series to end! Maybe a kiss will finally come. :L
@JohnForester15 If you ever seen Clannad you would know that a kiss does not mean that that scene is emotional... they never kiss in that anime and it has been the ONLY anime so far that has made me cry even a little bit...
I still want them to kiss but I won't be disapointed if they don't...
@Spagittified I don't expect there to be a kiss that defines what they've been working for through the whole series or something, like in Toradora! More like a kiss that lets me have a sigh of relief that they've finally accepted their feelings towards each other. :L
And it's not like Shakugan no Shana can be compared to Clannad, Air, Angel Beats!, or Kanon, because those are(Mostly) meant to make the watcher emotional. Shakugan no Shana isn't all about that.
@JohnForester15 ...agreed kinda... I don't really get how Angle Beats! was an emotional anime... also Air TV was one of the biggest disapoints in anime history for me... @Spagittified Angel Beats! had some of the most touching moments with people disappeared, and especially at the very end. Air wasn't that great, I'll agree, but it was sad all the same.

You definently need to watch Kimi ni Todoke, because the second season is going on right now..Bokura ga Ita(I totally mispelled that before) is really dramatic and lots of tense romance, REC has about 7 episodes, but is very comedic and really good, Spice and Wolf...WHUT?! Spice and Wolf is godlike!

The season 3 was announced a year ago. . It's already been past a year. I don't think we are going to see a season 3 at all. It's disappointing because Viz dropped their projects on the Shakugan no Shana Novels at volume 2 and manga at volume 8. So we have no way of knowing what happens after the events of season 2.
@Haiyami ya wrong,, their 4 ova coming out before the 3rd season. 2 Ova came out so far, so 2 more have to come out before the series does. Each ova took about 6 months to come out. So it be like 10 months until 1 year more, before the ova are done. Then be like 6 months until 1year,, before they start the 3rd season.
Stop speculating and guessing everyone. There would definitely be a season 3 as this was confirmed, however there is no set date for season 3 yet! It would be out... when it is done, just like Duke Nukem Forever.

I think there will BE a season 3 of Shakugan no Shana.. because i agree with Goldarby, Kazumi didn't use the thing that Pheles gave her and we didn't know also the answer of Kazumi in Ike's confession, besides Hekate and the others are still alive and not yet been beaten completely. ^_^

i agree 3 seasons woud be good and 3 season of 24 episodes brings to total of 72 episodes not including the ova. yes they neded a season 3 for clima come on the bad guys are still in it and there probs be aot more of a love section in season 3. and yuji is a big brother man wonder whats going to hapen. pleas say when season 3 date is when fined out thanks

I think there will BE a season 3 of Shakugan no Shana.. because i agree with Goldarby, Kazumi didn't use the thing that Pheles gave her and we didn't know also the answer of Kazumi in Ike's confession, besides Hekate and the others are still alive and not yet been beaten completely. ^_^
