Sehr mutig Frau Flemming! Thank You.
Renee again shows her remarkable voice in the alto range. For a lyric soprano to sing this lieder in this range with such feeling is amazing. Bill Frisell's accompaniment is sparse but perfect for this arrangement. This whole album is superb....Haunted Heart. Could not disagree more with natachu444. Mahler rearranged the Schumann (Clara) original. He would have loved this.
also, Renee's unaccented final e arguably sounds more like an English schwa ("uh" like the a in soda) instead of the correct German pronunciation (an unaccented short e, usually modified in english to "ih" or "uh"). still, she IS renee fleming so i suppose she can get away with it :)

Since Mahler also re-orchestrated other composers' works, he would hardly have objected to getting the same treatment. I like it.

Rene needs to stick to Strauss, in the correct key, the way it was written. What's this hoochie-mama crap?!

@natachu444 Easy there, tiger. This is a great album.

That defines a vanity production for a star soprano without any regard for the composer. Brava!

I do believe if you look at the phoenetic spelling in a German dictionary, and ending e in German is supposed to be a schwa.
