We need to build BIGGER tractors as farms all over the world get bigger and bigger. Sometime in the near future, even the Big Bud 747 tractor would be too small for the bigger farms of the future. In other words, as farms get bigger, so should the tractors and implements.

It's true that farms are getting FEWER IN NUMBER but those fewer farms that still exist are getting BIGGER IN ACREAGE  and are more likely to be run by business enterprises than by families. For those bigger farms, I believe tractors much bigger than the Big Bud 16V 747 and their matching implements need to be built to handle the increasing demands of those fewer but bigger farms around the world.

@glenn3rd2004 my family farmed their whole life, and made a living with small and cheap tractors. When my dad was a kid he ran 1850/55 olivers with 3pt hitch implements. We don't want big farming operations to get it because they arent stuards of the land, but seem to like to farm ditches and waterways to get in a few more bushels, we would all be better off if no one farmed over 5000 acres

There are far bigger vehicles used in mines, quarries and construction which can literally "run over the tops of all of those 'big' tractors without feeling a thing". Far bigger farm tractors and implements need to be built to more effectively handle the increasing demands of today's and tomorrow's biggest farms and ranches.

The LeTourneau L-2350 loader will far outperform any of the 'big' tractors mentioned here, even with only FOUR 70/70R-57 82PR tires. One L-2350-based tractor (which is 2300 HP compared to 600-700 HP for the biggest of the big tractors here) can do the job of about 2 or 3 John Deere 9620 4wd tractors. One LeTourneau-L2350-based 4wd tractor would benefit farms of 5000 acres or more with the savings in machinery and man-hours required to do the 'big jobs'.

Not wires coming from the exhaust - that is the "aspirator". The exhaust blows through a venturi, which sucks the dust out of the air intake pre-cleaner. It's pretty neat - the incoming air swirls in the pre-cleaner and the dust gets flung to the outside by centrifugal force. The vacuum from the exhaust sucks that dust out. It works very well, allows you to clean the air filter every few weeks instead of every few hours!! yes, it is a Big Bud.

That is a Versatile Big Roy. I farm here in Manitoba where the tractor was produced (only 3 units ever made). I actually had the opportunity to use one, as my family owned one of them.

The Big Bud 16V 747 was originally rated at 760hp, but soon after was rated at 860hp and then turned up to 960-80hp. I believe the 16V92 Detroit is capable of 1100hp with the proper injectors. Most Buds were in the 350-650 hp arena. Of course like alot of tractors those ratings can be finagled, and were probably turned up beyond fact. rating. Remember the Buds had the frames, and weight, that most didn't. As well as Industrial strength drivetrain comp. Their were two BigBud 740's at 740 hp.

These giant tractors are mainly used for broadacre wheat farming rather than row-crop farming such as corn. Large wheat farms have always used big tractors from the big "steel-wheel" standard tractors in the 1920s and 30s through to "ag-crawlers" in the 1940s and 50s and then 4WD tractors beginning the 1960s and 1970s.

The lastest style is the new QUADTRAC style built by STEIGER (Case-IH) and CHALLENGER (Caterpillar)
