  • Mr. Wong, I LOVE the way you teach! In my experiance, Asian teachers, teach in quite a different way from Western teachers. Each have their own ways and skills. I have lived in Japan for several years and I recognize your way of teaching is just the same as in Japan. I must say that I have learned quite a lot in the most beautiful way and now that I am back in the Netherlands again, I enjoy so much your video's. Keep up the good work!!

    Kindest regards,

    Liz

  • thats single timing, where's the triple action?? u just went from teaching jive triple to jive single, im confused.

  • @XtremeDance10

This is the Beginners level. I always teach beginner students the single rhythm (4 steps) before teaching them the triple rhythm (8 steps). It is a lot easier for them to progress than if I teach the triple rhythm right away. Check out our Bronze level clips and you will see the triple rhythm. Thanks for watching.

  • Just had my first lesson and this video helps me to run through the same steps.

    Great stuff.

  • it's jive i saw "Change of Hands Behind the Back" as a basic step in jive in a dvd

  • Just great

  • yep its boogie

but boogie is often called as an easy version of jive (not completely correct but called so)

and in my opinion no dvd or video can you do really learn right dancing but i think this video is good for people who wants to learn it for a wedding or a level party something like that. in that way, nice and good vid!

    (in professional way... no comment)

  • Good !

  • Great! This is the best dance course we found on the internet! Thanks!

  • thats not jive...

    thats boogie...

i've learned that step in a dvd...

    the changing hands...

  • It's single-time East coast swing. They're probably going to use this basic step to get the total beginner comfortable with a similar action then transition into the tripple action of jive. That's just my guess. True jive is a tough dance for a beginner because it is so fast.

  • This guy is my favourite online instructor but even he can't do much to make the ballroom jive look attractive. It's an ugly dance, even when performed by experts, and is being more or less superseded by dances like modern jive, salsa, West Coast swing, etc. At my dance club hardly anyone now performs ballroom jive.

  • ty for sharing!

  • Thank you for your comment. This is a Beginners Jive instructional video, not a performance video. We always start a beginner with the single rhythm jive (4 steps) before progressing to the triple rhythm (8 steps). We teach the triple rhythm at the Bronze I level.

  • wheres the triple timing... more like jitterbug, low knees... no triple... slow music for single time...but good teaching.

  • If I dance with a friend, how do I know which dance style to be use. and how can make some signal to partner while dancing.

    thanks

  • Here is my answer to your question. In ballroom dancing, both partners must take lessons in the same style in order for them to dance together. For example, it is unrealistic to expect a person who knows international style to simply lead a person who doesn't. There are signals for each variation but the lady still has to know her step patterns in order for the two partners to be in sync.
