Glad I subscribed. I feel bad because I made best friends with my Japanese teacher, but at the same time I failed her class because I had to work at lot. LOL But we mostly speak English, as I would feel funny to continue having her teach me, seeing as I failed. So I learn from you and use with her. LOL
I couldn't hear her parents ): Kansai is definitely different than the way I've grown up with, but my family is from Tokyo and Nagoya so that would make sense
I wish people in America better understood dialects. Americans are so arrogant and elitests. Most think if you don't speak like them you are wrong, instead of accepting a different dialect of the same language.
Hahaha, you got this look on your face like "Oh my good how the hell do I explain this to these morons so they can understand it???" ;). But nice video, arigato!
@Narutosunny: (Part 1 of 4) First of all, THUMBS UP for this VDO clip by ThatJapaneseGirl. Anyway, in response to your queries; speaking from the relatively more traditional Kansai-language “user’s” point of view, it truly depends. To make it brief, e.g. if you just write the word, “IKAN,” I would assume you’re indirectly conveying your disapproval towards something in question. In the hillbilly version (the Eastern/Kantou one), in this sense, people say “DA-ME,”. . .
@Narutosunny: (Part 2 of 4) . . . “DA-ME,” which sounds rude and vulgar to my ears. “IKAHEN,” on the other hand, means that someone tends not to go, etc. Both “IKAN” and “IKAHEN” denotes the PLAIN form, yet relatively sounding friendlier, etc. under those circumstances. Kansai LANGUAGE most likely has been communicated ever since the dawn of Japan -- to draw you a clear pic. – even before the naissance of Jesus Christ (?). . .
@Narutosunny: (Part 3 of 4) . . . Nuances unique to her (the elegant Kansai language) could be found, that which, understandably, might NOT be so as in Kantou dialect, including the Tokyoite one (the standard variety, also possibly heavily influenced by the Kansai language, has been originated from the which had been spoken ONLY by the high-classed people in Tokyo. . .). BTW, the word “NAI” has always been enjoyed in KANSAI region as well; and usually, (except in the standard variety). . .
@Narutosunny: (Part 4 of 4) . . . variety) in Kantou dialects the word “NAI” is pronounced as “NEE” -- which sounds very vulgar to my ears. But that’s another story. . . Historically speaking, if I’m not mistaken, the word “NAI” itself has always been pronounced, usually, so as “NAI,” in both KANSAI region and TOKYO (EDO), while the rest of Kantou region just went, “NEE”. . . I hope this helps. (Pls. challenge in case of errors found.)
Kansai dialect negative form is similar style to Australian english we describe things by how it "isn't".............not how it is, it comes off as sarcastic sometimes to those people that aren't use to it.
I always think I'm doing alright at studying Japanese, then I hear a native speaker speaking normally and I'm like "fml. I'm never going to be able to understand all that..."
@thatjapanesegirl WOW...how did you learn to speak such fluent English then? o.0
I've watched several japanese talk shows, many cant even pronounce english clearly (they are using katagana to pronounce them i understand..)...example LOVE is pronounced as "ra-bu" in japanese.
関西弁メッチャすきやで!! おもろいとおもわへん? I really like お笑い芸人, so I have picked up a little bit of Kansai-ben. Some of the kansai-ben I could pick out in the video: ええわ = いいわ 、 見れるはずやで = 見れるはずだよ 、 なんやっけ = なんだっけ
Great video and very informative! Can you tell me which dialect is used over in the Okinawa area? I'm being stationed over there early next year and want to learn to speak properly while I'm living there.
Konichiwa, i have been subscribed to your channel for awhile, but i haven't seen them lately untill this, and im glad to watch your videos , i am taking standard nihongo language course and its been 15 days so far. and i will keep on learning from you nevertheless because i got a new dialect called kansai , arigato gozaimasu, sayonara sensei
I really, really have to focus to hear Kansai ben. Which is strange, given that I watch ガキの使い all the time. Good lesson! :)

Then your father said "this is just a picture!"?
"this is not a picture this is for Youtube? (or something like that). Then there was something about IMAX? I don't know. I think I need to study more!
