At the end of his life, the deadliest gunfighter of the Old West is given a choice: Hell or redemption. He chooses redemption and God's Archangel transports him to modern day Los Angeles to serve bloody, frontier justice on the worst dregs of society.
yeah the metal songs were annoying...and I love metal. The weird. psychedelic, art, funk, electronic noise of Goblin is the best of anything you could ask for in a Giallo soundtrack. They're the masters. What the hell would you call them anyways? Like genre wise...They're so genre less it seems impossibile... Lol...
Loved most of Argentos movies. Especially "Bird with the crystal plumage", "Four flies on grey velvet", "Suspiria", "Inferno", "Tenebrae", and "Phenomena".
So far Italy sounds like a fine place- hot chicks, a history of awesome writers and directors, good bands, where the best horror movies were made, and awesome wine in the north

@That667Guy italy is a great place, but their sort of lacking in the freedom of speech and expression department. recently an italian singer/ comedian/ performance artist was nearly sent to jail for a comment she made about the pope's discrimination against gay people.

that's what the US is for, Italy is good for vacation and temporary stay, plus the Pope is top dog in Italy so anything against him is like calling Frederick the Entertainer someone who "isn't funny"
This is my first Dario Argento film - I picked it up at Poundland expecting a terrible film for a laugh.. Watched it today and it's one of my favourite films!! The music is fantastic - the main riff that repeats through it is my favourite.
I thought the 80's rock was perfect. The Iron Maiden and Motorhead songs fit so well... I think Mr. Argento wanted to give it a type of creepy/menacing atmosphere.
Got no argument there! The rock songs were so unfitting and broke the film's atmosphere completely. I am aware that Argento was really into metal back then but the songs didn't necessarily make his movies any better.
"the songs didn't necessarily make his movies any better."
For me, its the music in Argento's films that lure me in the most; sure Tenebrae and Phenomena's scores aren't "fitting" but they're so amazing. Suspiria and Deep Red have good music also -- still, I personally think its the unfitting music that made his movies. Listen to the music in Trauma, Phantom, Mother of Tears etc -- cheesy, eye-rolling and boring, they sound like the soundtrack for I Know What You Did Last Summer.
What I meant by "the songs didn't necessarily make his movies any better." was that the Iron Maiden/Motörhead/Steel Grave songs didn't really improve Phenomena and Opera in my opinion. I wouldn't change a single thing about the Tenebre, Suspiria or Deep Red soundtracks, though. In my view, they're as brilliant as horror soundtracks go.
Fair call. Yeah if someone removed the Motorhead and Iron Maiden I wouldnt be fussed but I still think its cool that someone was daring enoguh to do it :)
Negative. The soundtrack is the cherry to the sundae in this movie; its really hard for a horror film to be scary (for me at least) so you might as well have an interesting score for it. Seriously, Iron Maiden playing to a chase&murder scene? Really?? I'm sorry but I think that shit is seriously fucking awesome. More horror movies should have kickarse soundtracks like Phenomena in my opinion -- but not too many, cause then they wouldn't be special like Phenomena is :)
An amazing film and a hauntingly sublime soundtrack. This makes me want to throw in the DVD right now. Thanks for this post. **Added to my Favorites**
great music, but i dont really consider this a goblin album, in either of its two releases. the first was like a true soundtrack using other artist's tracks in addition to the goblin material. the reissue which you posted seems to have more of a compilation feel to it using outtakes and alternate versions of songs. good music none the less. goblin truly are great at what they do.
You can install a YouTube downloader that will turn the video audio into an MP3 file. I only send music personally to my MSN contacts, not to everyone asking, as I said on my channel.
non mi piacciono i film perche' ci sono cose inguardabili che mostrano azioni demoniche ma questa musica ( goblin) mi piace....

Jennifer Connelly looks underrage in this movie but she is gorgeous. I don't give a damn. Must be why Argento shot her in her underwear. Yummy!
Fantastic primal scream of a soundtrack, too.
