I watched about half of this video, and then turned it off. The doctrine of "original sin" is nonsense in my opinion, and this guy is a bigot. This is the reason that I dislike the Catholic church, because of people like him! I don't care about whether he is a cardinal or not, he is fallible just like any of us. He rehashed the line on contraception in this video and attacked gays. Then says, "anyone of good will should understand this?" No, anyone of good will should be tolerant.
Why do you go around to videos by Catholic Cardinals if you already know you are going to disagree with them? Why do you define any person by their sexual behaviour?
Jony, I do not "define" anyone by his or her sexual behavior. I'm not sure what was meant by that comment, but it seems a bit unusual.
However, this cardinal doesn't surprise me, especially considering the fact that Nigeria is a third world country affected by strife, violence, human rights violations, poor health care, and governmental mistreatment of individuals. THESE are the issues he should be speaking out against, but I have concluded that he surely has too much time on his hands.
By suggesting that to be against homosexual acts is to be against the person partaking in them is to suggest that this defines that person.
Arinze has been lauded for his work in interfaith dialogue, which will be an important part of any solution to Nigerias problems, he also played a great role in the relief effort after the Nigeria- Biafa war.
The Pope (though i guess i can not say the cardinal) is never not speaking out against tyranny, human rights and dignity The face that the
The fact the church may not take sides in most situations is attriubutable to the fact that their is rarely ever a side worth taking that will not partake in the same abuses as being purpotrated
In saying that Catholics (Especially those who reside in the Vatican), Protestants, Muslims , Atheists and Agnostics all need to do much more about what is occuring in places like Nigeria.

This is a very bizarre statement. Suppose for a moment that heterosexuals were the minority, and a cardinal or pope came out and said, "it's fine to be heterosexual, but don't act on it." That would mean you'd be expected to suppress an integral part of you, never get married, never date or kiss, never meet the love of your life.
What the RCC is doing and has done for a long time is holding the gay community to a double standard. I also think that church teaching on contraceptive usage are quite absurd, and also degrading to women. It turns them into "baby machines." Suppose noone practiced contraception. Should women just bear as many children as they are physically capable of having? If they were to do that, the world would be so overpopulated that people may die of famine.
"Well this is assuming that people can not control the amount/ when they have sex."
I'm guessing that this reply was referring back to my comment about overpopulation. It assumes that people cannot control when they have sex? Suppose a married couple doesn't want any children. Does that mean they should never have sex? Suppose they have two children, but don't want any more. Should they never have sex again, or use the rhythm method which is known to be unreliable?
The rhythm method. The Catholic Philosophy basically suggests this, though there exists methods which seem to seperate human action from natural consequences it does not remove the natural purpose of those actions in the first place.
Of course you are not going to agree with the churches teachings on conraception it's purpose as something which is always a sign of love between partners and not removed from the natural consequences.
Folke wisdome suggests that not having sex is an impossibility , that it results in people becoming embittered and that sex is a right. The Catholic philosphy views sex as a gift that you both give and receive and that contraception is the result of, and/or will lead to sex without the focus on giving rather then just receiving.
p.s Sorry that my grammar and spelling is completly up to shit. I even just left words out complelty :l
Jibjub my only question i sthough have you ever read the Theology of the Body and understand the arguments, or even the fact that there are philosphical and theological arguments behind Church sexual teachings, that are more than just "Bible sais this...". I acknowledge that you may and probable will come out of this exersize hating the Church even more but i still think it is better then pressing stop when you hear something you disagree with.
Actually, it's contraception that is degrading to women. It portrays a woman's reproductive system as something that is inconvenient and needs to be suppressed.
A couple should have as many kids as they may comfortably and reasonably raise, not be "baby machines", so save the Malthusian doom for another topic.
Ok i agree that arguments against homosexuality are wrong, but i do not agree that they are the result of a personal hatred towards homosexuality, but it is equally wrong to suggest that they are the product of perosnal hatred. As apronising as you may assume this to be.

Man, those are catholic teachings. It's about faith. If you don't believe, you won't like it. That's certain.

My dislike isn't only for this cardinal, either. Akinola (the Anglican bishop) is just as bad.
