I must say that Bauhaus caught my liking when I heard the first notes of the song Bela Lugosi's Dead. It's the first time I listen to a piece like this. It's really hard for me to listen to new things, but I don't regret listening to them and making an effort to look for their songs.
@watchtower1303 Peter Murphy is the lead singer. This opening song was performed in this way purely for theatrical effect. Peter came out onstage for the rest of the concert :)
@hmmtheseeder But they're not considered a Goth band. Who ever thinks that needs to listen to more music to understand what exactly the difference is from goth and whatever MCR is haha.
@PsychoticVampyreGirl It's true. Some years back. He married a Muslim Turkish lady and they're raising thier kids as Muslims. But he did convert to Islam yes, that's why old songs that he used to sing in Bauhaus that had more 'Catholic' language, he won't them anymore.
@PsychoticVampyreGirl Peter "converted" to Islam when he married Beyhan. His wife is a Turkish Muslim, and his two children were raised Muslim. He has lived in Istanbul, Turkey since the early 90's. A man who wants to marry a practicing Muslim woman must first convert before they can be married in a mosque. Oddly, a woman who is non Muslim does not have to convert to marry a Muslim man. (Peter was raised Roman Catholic, youngest of 6 or 8 children, I forget how many )
Saw Bauhaus around 1983 at Caesars palace Bradford England and they have stayed with me ever since. Pete Murphy and Danny Ash have to be two of the coolest blokes on the planet
At least you got to see them :) I wasn't around when they came out and I just know them a 2 or 3 years now. Most of their fans older then me have seen them so you should be happy with the one time seeing them live.
They opened their reunion tour with this, having missed out on them first time around (I was 13 when they split) to say I was excited would be the understatement of the century. The white face on the TV screen with the band giving it the biggun on stage was perfect. I have to confess a little bit of wee came out but that's between you and me, don't tell anyone else.

Aw man, that sucks. I'm jealous that you got to see them so much. I had one chance to see them live and I couldn't go. It was their very last show ever.
@AlmightyScubba The first few times I saw them they were amazing but then I followed them on the northern leg of their "mask" tour and they played pretty much the same set every night, so got a bit predictable.
Still, the music was unique for the time and formed a large part of the soundtrack to my youth.
I saw them play their first gig November 1978 (unlike many books that tell you it was New Year's Eve 1978).
They played to around 20 of Us at Nene College Park Campus before a pretenders gig....they were full of so much energy even then when they didn't have much kit and Murphy was menacing! Off stage though he was a really gentle ,friendly guy !
But yes, Pete Murphy was very menacing at his earlier shows. First time I saw them was at Rock City in Nottingham promoting kick in the eye and he almost hit me in the face with his mic stand. Bauhaus are a fucking great band. Not sure why blokes who are old enough to know better and still live with their mum need to dress like an 18 year old goth. You can still ike goth music without dressing like a twat. Grow up. I did.
I saw Bauhaus at the Sunrise Musical Theatre in Sunrise, FL 9/16/98 and I remember Murphy leaning into the mic during the show and saying 'NO PICTURES". Apparently, I don't think he wanted the annoying flash of the cameras during the show. Bauhaus is in my top 5 shows of all time and I feel fortunate to have experienced this.
Alright it's not like you can really compare the two artists... Bauhaus has its own unique thing going on completely different from industrial. So comparing Manson to these guys is just unfair. I know some one is trying to follow a trend in ashimalicedied here some cute little puppy following the crowd. Sure I wasn't born in this era either however I went and discovered the original "goth" movement for myself did a lot of research and I already had a pretty extensive industrial background.
Alright it's not like you can really compare the two artists... Bauhaus has its own unique thing going on completely different from industrial. So comparing Manson to these guys is just unfair.
Fuck if they were to play at least once more here in Canada.. I would fucking go.. defiantly!! +the lead singer is hot... fuck being 17 sucks.. I never got to live in the wonderful era of the late 70's and early 80's.. To see beautiful music played by such talented people would have been fantastic. and seeing goth for what it was truly... Now a days goth is usually all the same.. from what I hear no one looked the same back then.. it was pear being yourself..
@pawnsacrifice1 Well of course. I mean you don't see the lead singer of bauhaus pole dancing and causing a scandal with disney or posting half soft-core porn on the internet and blaming the media for peeking and spying or some other bollocks.
@pawnsacrifice1 Agreed. I do enjoy some of the music from today.. I also enjoy old music. I actually kinda wish for these guys to return once more.. But if they came to my town, unless people from Toronto and other places came then i would be the only one at the concert.. ^_^
@H2HOtex how are we losers, if we are losers then clearly you are for clicking onto this song and commenting and we can listen to what we want and lady gaga, cheryl cole, gwen stefani and britney spears is the crap music
I always thought the cure to be the orginal "GOTHS". bauhaus are ok but so cheesy. LOL Manson is wearing a cape now to. Alot of people say the cure are the original goths, some say bauhaus are. Catch me if I fall I'm losing hold, I cant just carry on this way. (Faith) great album from the cure
Funny, the really goth likes Bauhaus, Siouxsie And The Banshees and ¨The Cure, it's funny because I like gothic music and I never wanted to kill myself... Such a lost generation, bunch of cowards, who think it's better die than live.... SIGH... These suicide generations makes me sick. Wake up for your lives, instead of being selfish...
You know what's funny is...a friend of mine sold Peter his outfit that night of the reunion....a bit of FYI....yeah I'm stealing the show, but nah.....BAUHAUS is untouched on ALL levels....=)
@00000thatoneguy00000 I was born in 94 and have always thought that the 90's was such a boring decade ... i also see the 2000's as a terrible era with the rise of Hip hop and Dub step ...
One of the few good things to come out of the 90's was cradle of filth though :)
i saw 'em twice - once at an outdoor venue in cleveland, and the second at a college auditorium just north of DC (strathmore?). both were good shows. the strathmore show had more of a spirit from the audience. but THIS footage makes those shows look like it was an afternoon of chamber music. very cool....i think they will bring it on the road once more. do it!
@666deathghost Ahem. I am sick of ubergoth pricks like you on youtube. Yes I am comparing that loser Manson to Bauhaus. (Even though I know Bauhaus is wayyy out of their league.) What, I can't express my opinion anymore? Can't anyone? Why don't you mind your own business?
@ashimalicedied No you can't this is youtube I can ask or say what ever I want and whats your problem you got a bat stuck up yur ass or something? U having your period? BTW MM sucks dick! End of story.
@666deathghost Um fyi if you can ask or say whatever you want than so can I. No I do not have a bat up my ass and last time I checked only women got their periods. I never said I liked Manson, I like a few of their songs but have gotten way sick of them considering my ex was obsessed. Grow up.
To all you lucky bastards who have seen Bauhaus or was @ this show... FUCK YOU with love. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous right now. I've been told for years, they said they would never play again and here is recent Bauhaus. Pete sounds the same. Thank you for the post, lucky bitch:0p

@krallstello marrying in mosque is personal choise in turkey and you do not have any mariage rights if you do that. (no alimony, no inherit etc)
people mary in marrying office normally, which has no religious references.

Most missed reunions in this century, of one of the most celebrated and grownbreaking bands in the post-punk era ever.
Thank you for the music, thank you for the records, so far..
Get the wheels running Peter.. you're not dead yet.

@00000thatoneguy00000 I was born in 94 and have always thought that the 90's was such a boring decade ... i also see the 2000's as a terrible era with the rise of Hip hop and Dub step ...
One of the few good things to come out of the 90's was cradle of filth though :)

i saw 'em twice - once at an outdoor venue in cleveland, and the second at a college auditorium just north of DC (strathmore?). both were good shows. the strathmore show had more of a spirit from the audience. but THIS footage makes those shows look like it was an afternoon of chamber music. very cool....i think they will bring it on the road once more. do it!

ashimalicedied 2 years ago 70
@ashimalicedied Your comparing MM a wannabe industrial 2 a Bauhaus an original Goth Band?
666deathghost 1 year ago
@666deathghost Ahem. I am sick of ubergoth pricks like you on youtube. Yes I am comparing that loser Manson to Bauhaus. (Even though I know Bauhaus is wayyy out of their league.) What, I can't express my opinion anymore? Can't anyone? Why don't you mind your own business?
ashimalicedied 1 year ago
@ashimalicedied No you can't this is youtube I can ask or say what ever I want and whats your problem you got a bat stuck up yur ass or something? U having your period? BTW MM sucks dick! End of story.
666deathghost 1 year ago
@666deathghost Um fyi if you can ask or say whatever you want than so can I. No I do not have a bat up my ass and last time I checked only women got their periods. I never said I liked Manson, I like a few of their songs but have gotten way sick of them considering my ex was obsessed. Grow up.
