Don't take this the wrong way, but you look very young considering you say you are 6-dan. The assistant teacher of my school, here in Kagoshima, has been doing Iai since he was in high school and only made 6-dan this year. He is 34 and is one of the youngest 6-dan in Japan. Here you must wait 5 years between your test for 5-dan and your test for 6-dan, 4 years between 4-dan and 5-dan, 3 years between 3-dan and 4-dan, 2 years from 2-dan to 3-dan, etc.

Oh, it's true. His grip is not properly done. I study Kumdo, but Kumdo and Kendo grips are the same: you hold the katana/jingum one hand almost at the tsuba and the other at the extreme of the tsuka. Why are you gripping the swrod like that?
